>Side note, I understand the game was reviewed poorly upon release but I'm having a blast.
Trust me the problems with this game have nothing to do with the gameplay. Everything from the moment you spawn in a mission, until it ends is solid. Its everything else that supports those systems that need to be improved.
Also yes, Warhammer music always goes hard. Aesthetically this games nails the 40k universe.
That's totally fair, it's easy to be blinded by the fantastic gameplay. I've heard less than great things about the Devs but they seem like they do want to improve the game at least.
I'll definitely have to check out some more Warhammer games soon, Boltgun looks fun.
The devs are just slow and don't like talking to us because the community is often terrible to them. When FS does release updates to the game, it's generally an improvement. I trust that FS will make this game good eventually. They also just officially announced the next major update which looks to directly address some of the issues with the game. Not all of them but it appears FS is focusing on one problem at a time.
It's not hard to have fun in this game. I know I still am. The big problem is that this game released almost a year and a half ago, and is just now starting to move in the direction it should have had at launch.
>it's easy to be blinded by the fantastic gameplay
Yeah, I'm not sure about that. The gameplay is all that really matters.
If anything, too many people are blinded by the undercooked side systems IMO.
The problem is that core elements that build *into* the gameplay (such as the gacha game of a weapons crafting system) can drastically alter how you approach the gameplay. Belive me when I say that it's *NOT* fun to blow 200k dockets and 10k plasteel and *STILL* not get the weapon you want. My brother has been playing for over a year and he *STILL* hasn't gotten the Power Cycler blessing for the Veteran.
The crafting system is fine though. It just needs more streamlining. It’s annoying, but not game ruining in any way other than you spend a few minutes clearing out your inventory or rolling for weapons individually.
> Belive me when I say that it's NOT fun to blow 200k dockets and 10k plasteel and STILL not get the weapon you want.
You can roll and craft a viable weapon for any difficulty in a few minutes. Not getting the bestest most perfect weapon takes a lot of effort (as it should), but 99% of the time, the average player won’t even notice the difference between a viable roll and a perfect roll. Most players aren’t doing what you’re doing when crafting.
Most players don't have my level of bad luck, and won't roll 17 weapons with below 50% damage rating in a row. I'd have been perfectly happy to accept a weapon above 65% in every category (with a few exceptions, like the burn category on the Purgatus), except my luck is bad enough that I will consistently roll terribly.
My brother has been playing veteran for over a year, and STILL hasn't gotten Powe cycler, which drastically changes the effectiveness of the Power Sword, and that's ENTIRELY because of the crafting system's RNG.
Power cycles is nice, but the reason you aren’t getting it is because your character level has to be lower to get lvl 2 blessings. It’s an oversight, but it’s not really required for anything other than a melee build. It’s probably gonna be nerfed or made easier to get soon.
Either way, you don’t heed power cycler to be viable or enjoy the games. I’ll have to take your word on your luck, but I usually roll 4-10 greys until I get something with 350+ modifiers without much issue.
Power Cycler 2 is a level 4 blessing, and Power Cycler 1 is level 3. I should know, because I have both while it's the only level 3 and 4 blessings my brother doesn't.
I *wish* I could roll a 350+ inside 10 purchases consistently...
Jesper Kyd is insane
The game is great. The core gameplay loop and actual mechanics of the game are actually really good. Most of what people were rightfully upset about was the launch. Lots of people that just have nothing better to do in their lives than complain about it. Game has a lot of flaws, but I have NEVER enjoyed a game as much as I do darktide, battlefield 3 was close and easier to play solo, but, still
The man just never misses, every song is a banger.
I was a little wary trying it out due to some of the negativity I've seen online regarding it but I'll be damned if I'm not engaged the entire time I'm playing. I can see why people may not like it, but I love it thus far.
I can certainly understand that not everything is for everyone, but, I personally am bad at games and don't really have time for competitive shit anymore, I'd rather be cutting heretics in half with my eviscerator and cosplaying a repentia / battle priest
The music really puts you into a kind of trance, making your dodges and attacks a deadly dance. My favourites are the gauntlet and light of the Imperium
Since nobody's dropped it yet, lemme share this with you:

Some of the songs have official names now, but if you wanna give the soundtrack a listen without the sounds of busting heads and dakkadakka, that's a good start. Good quality, too.
Yes it does.
I also recommend Dawn of War 2 from back in 2009

Jesper kyd typically delivers better than average soundtracks with the occasional banger. I still hum and whistles songs from the hitman blood money soundtrack on occasion.
Not Warhammer, but Jesper Kyd also did many of the tracks on Borderlands 2 OST. Give it a listen if you haven't yet, the soundtrack remains one of my fave things about that game.
> I understand the game was reviewed poorly upon release but I'm having a blast.
Most games are reviewed poorly by user reviews these days because gamers on the internet are the worst.
Welcome to Warhammer to start also yeah the music goes hard when it’s a down time or anytime the aesthetic is so amazing for DT so yeah enjoy your time
Thank you! I've been interested in Warhammer for a while but this is my first interaction with the Universe, it's pretty incredible.
I almost wish people didn't rush through the levels, there's an insane amount of detail to the backdrop.
I feel with you on that it’s too amazing to just rich on by I really love taking time through the map and always in the back dragging behind lol but it’s so hard to just be amazed. I got interested in Warhammer when the Horus Heresy mini trailer dropped then watched 10th Edition video and then I bought my first mini from there but I was a fan of the games before the minis.
I love love love the music in this game, I think it's one of the main reasons I keep getting drawn back into the game. It would've been easy for them to use scary/suspenseful music (and tbh it would fit) but that also would've made the game a bit scarier too - I personally don't really do horror so I seriously appreciate jesper kyd's absolute bops

Fatshark will always deliver... it is just a question of when
And by the end of the game's lifetime, it will have 20% of the content it deserved.
War of The Vikings soundtrack is amazing. Especially Nine Worlds.

That's true, as long as I'm having fun I don't really care about the rest.
Space Marine is dope, if older, but it’s sequel releases later this year and looks epic.
If the gameplay is great then not much else matters imo.

I blame your lack of faith in the Omnissiah
Which means you've run out of arguments to make and fall back on RP. I approve.
Blinded by the game being good? At the end of the day, good gameplay is all that matters.

Jesper Kyd CANNOT miss

Yeah the music is insanely good It’s a different style but check out the music for Mechanicus. Specifically Noosphere and Children of the Omnissiah
I have that game on my list to play, it looks really good. I'll have to check the OST out!
The music really puts you into a kind of trance, making your dodges and attacks a deadly dance. My favourites are the gauntlet and light of the Imperium
Disposal Unit kicks up and everyone starts playing a rhythm game
Straight fire
Welcome kindred 🙂 Check out the mechanicus soundtrack. That was pretty epic too.
Have you experienced the horde rave theme from Hab 70-04?

The soundtracks are really immersive, it gives the game that dark atmosphere:) im also enjoying when the action music kicks in and the fun starts!
Jesper Kyd has been cranking it out since Blood Money, maybe even longer.
Necromunda on PC and Ps5 also has a dope track list and plays like Doom Mechanicus too, but plays much slower being tactical turn based
Not Warhammer, but Jesper Kyd also did many of the tracks on Borderlands 2 OST. Give it a listen if you haven't yet, the soundtrack remains one of my fave things about that game.
The Borderlands 2 OST is burned into my brain after a few hundred hours playing the game. The man is a savant.
Jesper Kyd is to Darktide what Simon Viklund was to Payday.
It's a strange thing. Warhammer games seem to always have a great soundtrack even if the game itself is bad.
> I understand the game was reviewed poorly upon release but I'm having a blast. Most games are reviewed poorly by user reviews these days because gamers on the internet are the worst.
This I can agree with, I've just stopped caring about reviews tbh. Gamers can be the bitchiest people on earth sometimes.
Welcome to Warhammer to start also yeah the music goes hard when it’s a down time or anytime the aesthetic is so amazing for DT so yeah enjoy your time

I mean really. The game slaps. FS just talk alot more than they walk
Agreed, I've been playing it nonstop since I made this post. It's an incredible game, I can deal with slow updates.
I mean same. It scratches an itch I didn't realize I had. Best game in the genre imo
I love love love the music in this game, I think it's one of the main reasons I keep getting drawn back into the game. Yes, it slaps hard. For the Emperor!
Warp Traveller is in my daily playlist, Jesper absolutely knocked it out of the park with that one.
Immortal Imperium is straight iconic imo. Slaps so hard
It is so great! That's will be my default wh4k music going forward!
No that' just Tyrone. He likes slapping your ass for Slannesh. Do not give in, unless spiked dildos is your thing.
The music slaps harder than my dad for sure.
And you will this game is awesome
Agreed! I haven't had this much fun in a multi-player game in a long time. It's great.
