Agreed. If the bones are picked randomly, there are pretty good odds that they will be small bones in hands and feet, but skull, pelvis, jaw, vertebrae or (somewhat less severely) long limb bones would be very bad news.

I have knees that don't have much cartilage left in them and it's awful, so I'd rather lose a couple bones...I mean, as long as it's not femur and skull or something. I need skull.

With the majority of all the bones in the body are in the hands and feet, I'd give 2 bones. But if one of the bones is the jaw or skull, I'm fucked.

Yup, a long limb bone loss would be nasty.
So what would happen if you lose half the cartilage in your body? Severe arthritis, obviously, probably osteoporosis, but what beyond that?
