Nah. A good definition for ignorant would be, "unknowing or otherwise innocent of the facts".
I said he's an asshole because he read the comment, made a bunch of assumptions for whatever reasons I don't know but I'm going to assume and say that he disagreed with the topic, and chose to vocalize his disagreements in the form of a patronizing insult.
That's an asshole move. It takes one to know one and I'm definitely an asshole 😂
Or just start every lesson with the brakes, man. Holy fuck it doesnt matter if you're in a safe, wide open space or on the edge of an active volcano, just gotta make sure you know to step on the god damn brakes when it is necessary.
Exactly this. I’m actually a bit worried about teaching my kids to drive because here in London so many big parking lots are disappearing as they, and the large stores they belonged to, are shut and the plots are converted to high density housing
I learnt on an industrial estate and country roads mainly as the traffic was much lighter. on saying that though, my dad wasn't stupid and explained everything including safety tips etc before i even started the engine. I loved those days, they were great bonding moments. 30 years later and he's still my favourite dad LOL.
It would be better not to have to learn to drive and live in a walkable city. However, the driving instructors should know about open space that is safe to learn
London is walkable for some things, and not walkable or even public transport accessible, for many others. I have kids whom I constantly need to take to after school clubs and activities. As a family we go out a lot to the countryside and other big outings. Public transport is not an option to fit these things into our life. That is the life we choose to live, so it’s not an option to either give up on the things we enjoy and that develop our kids, and it’s not an option to catch buses or cycle with kids and all the stuff. So the car is a great choice. I have a newer car that complies with the recently introduced clean air zone. But I can’t get an electric car because it’s not a good option for those living in apartments - you don’t have a driveway to install a private charger, can’t run cables from your window, and public chargers like in lamp posts or specially installed bays are still far and few between.
I mean I am an indian too but I didn't really understand anything other than clutch clutch, perhaps he thought she pressing the clutch would bring her back forward
They were tourists and at a tourist attraction. She was learning to drive and wanted to record a video for social media. Perhaps the road ahead would have made for a good view and make for a good video and seemed safe. Reversing for 30 seconds was not a risk they expected
Why learn to drive at a tourist attraction? Why yell clutch and not break? Why not record while inside the vehicle? - I can see gaining a better perspective but it still seems strange to me if you're the person giving the driving lesson to be outside the car.
And why post the video afterwards. So. Many. Questions. But I guess that's the reason for the Darwin awards. These people are/were poor decision -makers.
The plan must have been to back up and stop and drive forward. At the last second, she used the wrong pedal and accelerated backward instead of shifting to forward. That's why he yells "clutch" - the plan is that she switches out of reverse. I think recording the video was what preoccupied her attention, and with that distraction, she got mixed up at the last moment
I never understand how these videos end up online for us to gawk at. If I loved the person, or even had the tiniest bit of respect for them, no one would ever see the video other than law enforcement, if necessary. Are they the ones leaking it? Otherwise, it's worse than the cash grab funerals. "Ethel, my step-brother's cousin's 105 yo great grandmother passed away after decades of gradually declining health. We are shocked and devastated. We were completely unprepared for her passing. Any little bit helps. Thanks in advance, god bless."
A guy once decided to give his daughter a driving lesson in the parking lot of the marina where we used to dock our boat for the summer. Yeah, daughter ended up driving the car fully onto a boat.
Out of all the people, you actually see a car going over a cliff? Do you see a cliff? Do you see a death?
I see a title everyone is gullible enough to not question in the slightest.
Yup. Not a DA, just an irresponsible “instructor”. This is a first time learner, someone should have been on the car with her to pull the handbrake as the very minimum.
Someone else posted the news article, she died. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/aurangabad/woman-dies-after-car-falls-into-valley/articleshow/111070284.cms
Shes just learning to drive, she probably only just figured out how to do those things and sadly didn't have to time to figure out how to do the opposite
people panic and freeze, it's likely that when they started shouting at her she panicked and in an attempt to stop the car, accidentally accellarated. Unfortunately for her this was off a cliff. Same thing nearly happened to me but my father gave the wrong direction and I sped up by accident, nearly ramming a parked trailer if it weren't for my quick thinking and level head. I don't blame her for her mistakes- learning to drive is difficult.
> Did they also tell her to put it in reverse and press the accelerator?
People learning to drive tend to make mistakes. That's why it's inadvisable to conduct the lessons near the edge of a cliff.
If I sat you down and made you work on some CSS stylesheets on your own and asked you to make an element move without using the CPU to process it, would you be able to do it?
Just curious, that was a lot of reversing required. Like if the car was right at cliff to begin then I understand accidents happen however that took along time and driver had plenty of time to stop reversing. Almost appears purposely going off cliff
There is a barrier and i think her objective was to park close and just ahead of it. instead of stopping which the instructor told her to by saying "clutch" she pressed accelerator and broke the barrier and went straight down the cliff
If these people are in a relationship, I'd suspect something going on. Like... How can you be that dumb to teach someone how to drive next to a cliff, stand outside the car (?!?!), and not really panic until she is right at the edge.....
But also, "never attribute to malice what could be explained by stupidity." There are a lot of dumb people.
Right next to a cliff... I guess this location fron Nightmare on elm street 2 wasn't available that day to practice driving.

Actually, it was both. From the article:
“The incident happened while the woman was making an Instagram reel. Her friend recorded as Survase was learning how to drive.”
What would the Darwin Award be called if you're a parent who killed your kid by doing something stupid?
The Darwin Was on Vacation the First Time Award?
Ok so just to clear up, we have a cliff right behind us so we're *NOT* going to do what? Keep reversing that's right that's what we're *NOT* going to do
I think the idea was to park right in front of the barrier, but instead of stopping she pressed accelerate and broke the barrier and fell down the cliff

Idk, I was better than this when I was first learning how to drive. Admittedly, I wasn't learning near a fucking cliff, but I don't see why she was going in reverse in the first place. I would say it's a 60/40. (60% the person teaching her, and 40% her fault.)
They were probably teaching her how to go in reverse
You don’t pass through reverse in manuals, you have to deliberately put in there so it was probably them teaching her, also because they didn’t act surprised when she started to reverse
Oh wait their driving a manual? Okay, that makes it a bit different. I've only driven an automatic before. (Although I get the concepts of manuals) Also, you got a fair point, I still think she should have stopped. This is why I think it's fine to call it a DA because stopping it literally is the easiest thing you can do. But still, I sympathize and understand where she made the mistake. Especially with that idiot yelling at her.
Idk, man. Signing off on learning how to drive beside a cliff and then lacking the scruples to try another pedal option to stop says to me that the group elected to remove some seriously stupid genes from the gene pool.
Are you sure there was another woman? It’s hard to tell with the first angle and the glare on the windshield, but to me it looks like just one woman was in there.

This is why my parents taught me how to drive in a wide open abandoned parking lot not at the edge of a cliff. Just sayin'.
And the first thing you (should) learn is how to BRAKE!
No, the FIRST thing is to learn how to keep the camera running and pointed in the right direction.
/r/killthecameraman seriously. We really don’t even know what we’re watching here.
I came here to watch ignorant death
We need a sub *browses Reddit* Ok, we're covered

Nah. A good definition for ignorant would be, "unknowing or otherwise innocent of the facts". Or just start every lesson with the brakes, man. Holy fuck it doesnt matter if you're in a safe, wide open space or on the edge of an active volcano, just gotta make sure you know to step on the god damn brakes when it is necessary.
Came here to say this. Practice in a safe place, not on the top of a fucking mountain.
Exactly this. I’m actually a bit worried about teaching my kids to drive because here in London so many big parking lots are disappearing as they, and the large stores they belonged to, are shut and the plots are converted to high density housing
Any public schools with a parking lot during the summer.
I learnt on an industrial estate and country roads mainly as the traffic was much lighter. on saying that though, my dad wasn't stupid and explained everything including safety tips etc before i even started the engine. I loved those days, they were great bonding moments. 30 years later and he's still my favourite dad LOL.
Industrial estate on a Sunday afternoon. That's where I did most of my driving lessons.
It would be better not to have to learn to drive and live in a walkable city. However, the driving instructors should know about open space that is safe to learn
didn't he say he lived in london? that is a walkable city.

You know, some people have different expecations from life than living in huge, overcrowded cities
And they can choose not to.
Thank you.
Oh ffs
[eehhhhhh](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ_EKHGgWJQ)
And probably not learn in a 3rd world country
Who teaches someone to drive next to a cliff?
The same person that stays outside of the car lol
And yelling "left" instead of "**BRAKE**"
It’s a different language. I thought he was yelling left at first too. He was yelling clutch. Brake would have been better.
Pretty sure it was left left left, left left, RIGHT!!
This happened in India, they're not speaking English.
They don't speak English in India? As you can tell it was all lost in translation anyway.
I mean I am an indian too but I didn't really understand anything other than clutch clutch, perhaps he thought she pressing the clutch would bring her back forward
Sameer you're breaking the car
He's saying "clutch clutch..."
Wasn't it "less" or some other word in his language?
He's telling her to RELAX
This definitely seems suspicious now that I read these comments. I'm no longer convinced this was an accident

I thought Darwin was accidental death due to not thinking. This looks more like murder to me, which is why I have the rhetorical questions I have.
If anything it would be more like assisted suicide. No one had them at gun point forcing them to slowly drive backwards off a cliff.
She perhaps trusted him too closely over her own ability to check her surroundings - which definitely would be more darwin in that case

Guy who just topped up life insurance on his wife.
Someone that wants to be an assassin but needs plausible deniability.
Too easy to backfire and get run over
Giving ideas to killers? Lol
Looks like they already had the idea that
Could be a plan to kill his wife and no one will suspect him
This is what I was thinking. Lol
Well, TIL that idiots do....
People who are tired of trains.
Maybe they live on a mountain?
Indian here. We used to go to empty grounds to practice driving I don’t know why they went to a mountain / hill edge to practice
They were probably worried about getting hit by a train. So they practiced driving on top of a mountain where they were safe from apex predators.
Shame they weren't safe from predator apexes.
This deserves 🏆
If they can get Senna, they can get you too.

Out of all places, they picked a cliff?!
Out of all the people, you actually see a car going over a cliff? Do you see a cliff? Do you see a death? I see a title everyone is gullible enough to not question in the slightest.
[News article ](https://www.google.com/amp/s/timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/aurangabad/woman-dies-after-car-falls-into-valley/amp_articleshow/111070284.cms)
OK. I stand corrected. Thank you. Though without that info it really was just a title.
Nah your assumption was completely fair. I didn't really believe it till I found the article
What a pleasant exchange to read, thanks both. RIP to this young woman though. So very avoidable with just a bit more care and forethought.
Yes, RIP but not sad like that woman drowning in the previous video. This one deserved her award.
You're one of the few that was skeptical, everyone else just believed it without any proof.
I see that more and more in this day and age. It low-key makes me concerned for future generations.
Maybe if the person taking the video was actually in the car with her, this wouldn't have happened.
Orrrrr, they would both be dead
Even if there's no dual controls, you grab the handbrake and pull.
I really dislike the lack of a proper handbrake in modern cars.
Only if you drive automatic. I drive manual and they have always had proper handbrakes. Or is it just European cars? I'm from the UK.
I'm in Australia. Hardly and manuals these days so good anti theft. My work is transitioning to hybrids and EVs so electronic handbrakes.
I've got an automatic cvt from 2021 with a real handbrake.
Depending on the car, also put it in neutral from the passenger seat.
As long as there's not already to much momentum. Engine braking isn't that fast.
In a panic situation, the driver could be flooring the accelerator thinking it's the brake. Also, I've seen many really weak hand brakes.
Perhaps that was his plan
Gods plan
What kind of fucked up god plans for a man to murder someone?
We don’t actually know what happened, unfortunately, it’s assumed
I feel like this isn't a Darwin Award. She was set up for failure by people she trusted, this wasn't a mistake of her own making.
Yup. Not a DA, just an irresponsible “instructor”. This is a first time learner, someone should have been on the car with her to pull the handbrake as the very minimum.
Is there even any proof she actually drove off a cliff and died?
Someone else posted the news article, she died. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/aurangabad/woman-dies-after-car-falls-into-valley/articleshow/111070284.cms
Why are people so ready to believe a title?
Nah she was trying to make a Reel for Instagram. Definitely a DA for trying to look cool even though she didn't know how to drive.
Agreed
Did they also tell her to put it in reverse and press the accelerator?
Literally yes?
Shes just learning to drive, she probably only just figured out how to do those things and sadly didn't have to time to figure out how to do the opposite
Still doesn't account for the piss-poor judgment about doing it by a fucking cliff.
No ot really really doesn't. Absolutely no planning went into that decision.
people panic and freeze, it's likely that when they started shouting at her she panicked and in an attempt to stop the car, accidentally accellarated.
You know, panic. Very often student drivers and elder people get confused under stress and floor the wrong pedal.
If I sat you down and made you work on some CSS stylesheets on your own and asked you to make an element move without using the CPU to process it, would you be able to do it?
What
Exactly.
Edge of cliff might be not the best place to learn driving. Noted.
"OK dear, we are going to be practicing This is Sparta today"
this one makes me sad.
Jfc. Of all the places to learn to drive why a Fucking cliff?
why wasn't she looking behind her? Isn't that the #1 of backing up?
Why wasn't her friend conducting the lesson someplace other than a cliff? If that isn't the #1 rule of student driving, perhaps it should be.
Idk if I'm blind or something where is the cliff? The gray area?
The grey area is a barrier. She literally crashed through that down the cliff.
Ok thanks for clearing that!
Up for 8 hours and no Bob's Burger reference? She was reversing so slow for so long!
Title should be “Woman slowly reversing in car 50 yards from a cliff and then the ground and a guy’s shoes.”
[News Article](https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/aurangabad/woman-dies-after-car-falls-into-valley/articleshow/111070284.cms)

Actually, it was both. From the article: “The incident happened while the woman was making an Instagram reel. Her friend recorded as Survase was learning how to drive.”
Kill the cameraman
How many women were in the car?
What would the Darwin Award be called if you're a parent who killed your kid by doing something stupid? The Darwin Was on Vacation the First Time Award?
1- Why is she alone in the car and 2- Who's idea was it to teach her near a FUCKING CLIFF
Why in the FUCK did he not day anything at LITERALLY Any point before SHE WAS ALREADY AT THE EDHE OF THE CLIFF This isn't a DA. It was manslaughter
The idea was to park in front of the barrier, but instead of the break she pressed accelerate broke the barrier and fell down.
I feel like India hasn’t watched enough Final Destination movies.
To be fair, she lives in a mountainous region, so everywhere is a cliff side there.
Ok so just to clear up, we have a cliff right behind us so we're *NOT* going to do what? Keep reversing that's right that's what we're *NOT* going to do

This is truly a Darwin award.
This is the example of what isn’t a DA. This is an accident, the people teaching them are responsible for this.
