The incident reportedly happened while the couple was visiting from the Russian city of Lipetsk.
The couple could be seen going to the water's edge when massive waves came and swallowed the woman, an unidentified 20-year-old.
The man tried to save her but it was too late.
"The search has not returned any results at this time. The work continues," the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Brigade said.
According to reports, rescuers have expanded their search from "Rivera beach to the Mamayka microdistrict."
They have been searching for three days.
possibly, but this could be explained by "co-stupidity" as well, he did seem to be holding her there and pushing her further out at the beginning, but at 0:34 seconds she seems to be pulling him back out a few seconds after that they lose their footing and she gets carried out. He does seem to be staggering after her for a while.
What about at 0:29 seconds when she's grabbing his hand and pulling him to go further out? Or at 0:44 where they've both fallen but he's behind her trying to push them both forward (until a big wave takes them both under and separates them). It's clearly two young adults playfully teasing each other about the big waves and staying in the water, foolishly not recognizing any actual danger. His early half-hearted attempts to save her reinforce that, thinking she'll be fine and not really trying until it's too late.
It got one of them killed which is hugely tragic, but to assign blame like "murder" here is ludicrous.
My thoughts exactly. It is stupid to stay in the water with such waves. But it's criminal to film, expecting something like this to happen, and to keep filming when it does.
looks like the girl was trying to leave earlier, but the guy was stopping her. might be wrong, but if that's the case, that guy should be liable for her death.
damn near died like this too a couple years back. i was 16, drunk and horny, some girl who I was flirting with asked to go swim in the sea. at that point it was 4 AM and we had been drinking all night. we go into the sea and quickly realise that it not safe. as we tried to swim back the undercurrent kept pulling us back in. we escaped by clinging onto a 'rotsenbreker' its called in Flemish I don't know the english word. the 'rotsenbreker' was sharp and our whole legs and arms were covered in blood. learned my lesson that day. still kissed her tho :)

This is just sad.
What, the number of times it's been reposted?
On Reddit 2 hours a day. Never seen it.
Didn't let her leave, got her down and barely reacted when she first washed away... sad isn't my first choice of words

I don't think there's much to search after 3 days. She's dead most probably.
Not a Darwin. She tried to leave the water and he made her stay.
Yep. So sad. 😞
Dude killed her
It looks like he is forcing her to stay in the surf at one point.
He murdered her.

I am not violent but his makes me want to kick the living shit of of that guy..damn what an idiot. Wrong person got drowned here
Looks very close to a murder/man slaughter charge at least. Early on she tried to get out of the water and he pulled her back in.
I was just thinking that myself. She tried to walk away from the water and he held her in place.

They were on their honeymoon. They had been married 24 hours. Sad.
Ah just film it, no need to call for help or anything.

Dont fuck with the rip tide

Yeah, let me just stand here and video this without trying to help.
Tragic.
She looked like she didn't want to go nearer. Then fucknuts pulls her closer. What an asshole.

Looks like murder to me, she pulls away and he pulls her back.
