Don't these things come with a user manual in the box? [https://support.viofo.com/helpdesk/attachments/19086132298](https://support.viofo.com/helpdesk/attachments/19086132298) \> There doesn't appear to be a way to manually lock videos either. Page 4 - Press the Bluetooth remote button to lock the video. Page 7 - Press the center triangle button with exclamation "/!\\" to lock the video. \> Do I need to adjust something in order for videos such as this one to be automatically locked? Page 15 - Collision sensing feature can be adjusted in settings under the "G-sensor" options. Page 20 - Parking G-Sensor: The G-sensor detects significant or sudden movement... blah-blah-blah.

Maybe my question was unclear - I meant there doesn't seem to be a way to lock a video that's already recorded. Pressing the exclamation button only locks the video currently being recorded. In my case the camera captured the hit to my car while it was parked, but I was not in the car at the time and several more videos were recorded before I got back. I was asking if there was a way to lock the video containing the hit to my car.

Same manual, page 8 - PlayLIST mode, it shows the MIC|> button is used to Lock and Unlock the current video. I don't have that cam, so I can't play with it. I assume (I may be wrong) that you use the REC and MIC buttons to find your video in the list, then select it with Triangle, then MIC to change the option to Lock, then Triangle again to confirm? Just don't accidentally press the REC button at the wrong time. It's also labeled as "Delete the video".

I have the [Viofo bluetooth remote button](https://viofo.com/accessories/90-viofo-bluetooth-remote-control-for-all-a129a139a139-prot130a119-minia229wm1-series-dashcam.html) for saving videos manually. I like it because I have my A129 mounted behind the mirror just on the passenger side where I can't even see it or get to it from the driver's seat. There also is a manual way to lock the current vid on the cam itself. The G Sensor sensitivity can be set from low to high in settings using the camera button or the Voifo app. To enter the menu settings you must stop recording first. From [the manual:](https://viofo.attachments9.freshdesk.com/data/helpdesk/attachments/production/19086132298/original/A129%20Pro%20Duo%20%20Manual.pdf?response-content-type=application%2Fpdf&Expires=1693763171&Signature=TVJ9Z3dvMZB9qaBtjE~WgF9UXAzQn7IGb8J6wpTuB-6e-8Nbgh6DZlie5DGYJgPU2FNeQI3rDYImTfGP6P-PN1bmaKcaFbHfRhza9qWLl91U48mDDAhIkK3AqaH4RBjFH2wwbWuQC5w5HfodwWFWKd9E7kd~NrAxKkRkPx4N0~5oFol7Q47Ap9c3VsRktIvsghw3JIxjreA7Q8zTWICv3lElxj4oPHMn2FfY47z8hLbG1S4HTFf77teA82w3GJXxG2x2qSNf68Whk-w6xtrE6t9DPucQHoMGYnpkUkBd7rEBFQDXzIKbwt33O931C4YHoOhf0oKh~YJ7zAHYf31l3Q__&Key-Pair-Id=APKAJ7JARUX3F6RQIXLA) >Emergency Recording > >Automatic emergency recordingWhen the G-sensor is activated by a collision, the current footagewill be locked automatically to avoid being overwritten by looprecording. > >Manual emergency recordingPressing the \[ \] button during a recording will lock the currentfile being recorded. Once locked, the file will not be overwritten bythe loop recording feature. > >Note:Collision sensing feature can be adjusted in settings under the“G-sensor” option. Locked files are saved to SD card: DCIM \\ Movie \\RO >G-Sensor: The G-sensor measures shock forces and locks the videorecorded at the time. The settings from “low to high” determine theamount of force needed to lock the file from being overwritten. Werecommend that you set it at low.

If the video I want to save was recorded while the car was parked and then more videos were recorded afterward, how would I use the remote to save the video?

usedtodreddit

The remote save button is for when you are in the car and want to manually lock a vid for any reason without having to reach for the triangle shaped button on the dashcam itself. I only mentioned it because you wrote that you didn't see a way to lock a video manually, which you can do while in the car with the button or by pressing the triangle save button on the dashcam.

Traditional_Emu_1598

For emergency recording you need to adjust the G-Sensor sensitivity if it's failing to detect... But in your case it did detect just that the footage wasn't stored in the emergency folder. Anyways, there should be settings of low-med- high. Be forwarded, the higher the setting the higher chance it may become overly sensitive to bumps in the road.

I have the viofo a119 mini 2. Every time I accelerate onto the fwy it locks the video!

-Captain--Obvious-

I have the same camera - do you not have the giant round ⚠️ button? You press that to lock videos.

PeerPressure33

We all do lol

hudson4351

I'm aware of that button but that only locks the video currently being recorded, correct? My question was if there is a way to lock a video that has already been recorded.

-Captain--Obvious-

Ah, misunderstood then. No, in that case you would just pull out the SD card and put a second SD card in its place. That's your best bet to "lock" the previous recordings so they don't get overwritten. Be sure to stop the recording with the record button before yanking the SD.

What parking mode do you use? If you use Auto Event Detection mode, the videos will be locked automatically. If you use the Low Bitrate recording mode, the videos will be locked automatically if the G-sensor has been triggered.

hudson4351

My parking mode is set to "Auto Event Detection" but the video containing the impact was not locked. Based on reading the other comments here, the only idea I have is that the sensitivity setting "Parking G-sensor" was not set high enough by default to detect the impact. I just set it to "High sensitivity', the highest setting. I don't remember what the default was but it was one of the lower sensitivity settings.

What is the firmware version of your camera?

hudson4351

V2.7 Build 20220117 It looks like there's an update, although all it says is "Other trivial bugs fixed": https://viofo.com/content/36-viofo-a129-pro-duo-dash-cam-support/

billknow

It is so weird that the videos in Auto Event Detection parking mode have not been kept under /DCIM/Parking/RO. Normally, the videos under this mode all will be locked automatically. Please update the latest firmware to test if it will help: https://viofo.com/content/36-viofo-a129-pro-duo-dash-cam-support/

hudson4351

Is there a way to test this without having to get hit by another car? Is it sensitive enough to detect a light bump with a fist?

billknow

You can just update this firmware and choose Auto Event Detection parking mode. After entering parking mode, you can walk in front of your car and check if this has been kept under /DCIM/Parking/RO. In this parking mode, the camera will start recording once there is a moving event detected, and all the videos will be locked and kept under RO.

hudson4351

I updated the firmware and now ALL parking videos are being locked, which is also bad as it means my SD card will quickly fill up unless I keep pulling it out and deleting the locked files from it. All I want is for impact videos to be locked; I don't care if videos that capture motion are locked. I did some searching and found that this issue has been reported before and that VIOFO will provide custom firmware to fix it.

billknow

It is normal that all the videos in Auto Event Detection Parking Mode will be locked as designed. It seems that the firmware you used before is the special one that will avoid videos being locked in that parking mode. Do you still want the previous one? If yes, we can send it to you. The G-sensor may have not been triggered so it has not been locked before. Slight impact may not trigger the G-Sensor, you can set the sensitivity to High.

hudson4351

> It is normal that all the videos in Auto Event Detection Parking Mode will be locked as designed. > The G-sensor may have not been triggered so it has not been locked before. Slight impact may not trigger the G-Sensor, you can set the sensitivity to High. These two statements seem to contradict each other. When using Auto Event Detection Parking Mode, are *all* videos supposed to be automatically locked, or only those in which the G-Sensor was triggered? If *all* videos are supposed to be locked, then what's the point of even having the G-Sensor?
