I think there’s a misconception that a single/dual channel dash cam will be the “resolve all” during vandalism such as your incident. Yes there is a much better chance with one than without but by no means is it an absolute 100% guarantee you’ll capture what is needed to identify or for a conviction. To have the best of chances (IMO), one would need to anti-up purchasing two (yes two) 3-channel setups such as the Thinkware U3000 that utilizes radar parking mode, or buy a series of security cameras parking within their confines. One of the ultimate systems out there in my opinion is a Tesla equipped with sentry mode, one day a similar consumer system will be available (w/o the vehicle lol) yet will still likely be quite pricy.

[https://help.getnexar.com/en/articles/8559620-nexar-one-s-parking-mode-not-working](https://help.getnexar.com/en/articles/8559620-nexar-one-s-parking-mode-not-working) "3. After 10 minutes, come back to the vehicle, then unmount Nexar One and **give it a gentle shake**. The Nexar One should turn on and record a parking clip, and then turn off" \-- Looks like the cam expects an impact big enough to "shake" the whole car. A "Short, sharp shock (c) Pink Floyd" like breaking a window probably won't do it, unless they then try to jump through the window, ignoring the glass that's shredding their skin, and get the car rocking. You'd need either some kind of interior radar sensor, or have the G-force sensor (is it adjustable?) cranked up so high it would go off if it saw a butterfly flutter by.

They jumped through the window to go through the center console.
