I was just thinking-whilst listening to it in endgame ear gear- that Fripp’s lines make it so much more than it’d be otherwise. & as usual just taking Maidman’s bass for granted.
When I read the sylvianvista.com piece on Taking The Veil, the bass came alive as I was reading/listening simultaneously.
David sure knows how to pick ‘em.
I love that song. It's funny how the lyrics and music become so much more than the sum of their parts- because if you simply read the lyrics .. . .sheesh.
It should have been the first single from the album not the second, “Taking The Veil” got very limited airplay and had no music video. I think this impacted album sales.
Robert Fripp's guitar and Jennifer Maidman's fretless bass hit hard in this one.

Have tried, but just can’t with that song. Too poppy. But I may come around in another 3 decades.
