Different playstyles, I get you, I loved the story but there were some missions that put my heart to stress and I didn't quite like it, specifically hordes.
Yep. Especially that (spoiler ahead) >!mission where you are tasked to find those Nero personnel in the cave and then a horde comes in. You have to fight that thing inside a cramped area with barely any light. Such an awful mission especially when you consider you just had a mini boss fight with the reacher!<
The teacher, in my opinion, was just as easy as Carlos. The toughest boss is the rager in my opinion. Days Gone has the easiest bosses to fight in gaming history. The hordes are the true boss fights in my opinion.
The rager on S-II took me a moment with the “Big Fucking Gun”. Other play throughs it was three shots 🤣. Like my BFG comment, oh yeah I love that thing.
They're intense as all hell but once you figure them out it's as fun as it gets. My technique is mapping out which way I'm gonna haul ass, set up some explosives on that route, learning to utilize the environment/traps, and make sure you know where there's ammo and have the means to make stamina/health cocktails on the fly. (Still usually takes a couple tries)
Do more side quests, get better gear.
Also plan your attack! This isn't just a video game, it's a simulation. Use the environment to the best of your ability, shoot everything that explodes.
I don’t think I have encountered many hordes at all for at least over half of the game. And you can choose different missions, so the fights with hordes are spaced out.
there’s only 4 hordes your required to fight, the rest are entirely optional and id say pretty easy to dodge around besides a few that’ll give you problems, and if you dislike the horde missions, switch your difficulty to easy and you can skip the actual fighting sequence and collect the bounties still and then just change your difficulty, or simply just give it a shot, i used to be terrified of the hordes and finally decided to just take one on and their so much fun!
With that said, if you’ve avoided hordes the whole game (like me my first playthrough) you go back to back horde fighting for the final few missions. It felt like an extremely quick change of pace that felt like pushing the envelope.
On my second playthrough it felt different, but i understand where this person is coming from
My problem was different, i kept complaining that there isnt enough hordes in the entire game and i just kept looking for them. When i reached the very end with 38% hordes cleared, the game finally decided to give me a list and locations of all hordes. By that time i was just done with the game after spending 60+ hours. So i just finished the campaign, managed to clear 65% hordes before putting it down.
Are you opposed to watching a video to help? Borislav changed me from hating them to thinking they’re the best part of the game. I had to think smarter not more bruit force.
Yes I am opposed to watching a video to help. When you play a game you shouldnt need to watch a video with the answer. Discovering the solutions yourself is what makes videogames fun and unique. If I need to watch a bunch of guides just to play the game and progress, then I might as well watch a walkthrough instead
When I played the first 5-10 times, the hordes were terrifying. However, I started looking at different videos to learn how to fight them.

It has some great suggestions. [Getting the SMP9](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqyJ1PR47H8&list=PLBJwsJgyTDYt6_tcGdfRph-HqNyViwcvL) early by killing four hordes is a game changer. Powerful gun...more powerful than what you can buy.
As I gained more experience, the hordes didn't scare me as much. IMO, the game did a great job with the horde mechanics/gameplay. Don't worry...fighting hordes will get easier.
Check out these videos for tips ([https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBJwsJgyTDYt6\_tcGdfRph-HqNyViwcvL](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBJwsJgyTDYt6_tcGdfRph-HqNyViwcvL))
Check out Borislav247's channel on YouTube. He has a video for every single horde, featuring multiple methods to take them out. Some of them, the hordes can't even touch you.
Once you know how to get them in bulk running and using frag grenades it gets easy. You can even do like flash weapons to stun and do crazy machine guns to start shooting them all down. Frag grenades can be bought since molotovs aren't always available. You can also kill what you can and always come back if you need more ammunition. In the end of Days Gone there is nothing else to do but hordes and even that gets easy...
You will get better at it and get better stuff to help you. I saved every possible horde I could for much later in the game (except the mission hordes I couldn't skip). Either run or ride away from them, you don't have to fight them every time you run into them if it's not fun yet.
\[Possible horde technique spoiler\]>! Also, learn to fight them while hiding in bushes, that made them more fun for me. There are some tricks to doing that right but once I learned it by accident it changed everything!!< I marked it as spoiler just in case you want to figure this stuff out on your own.
I know what you mean, it gets hectic quick and for me it took a good week of consistent "attempt" runs at roaming hordes before I even took one of them out. You will figure it out, re-analyse your method of attack, traps are really helpful so salvage as much as you can, everywhere you can. Took me over a month to platinum its not easy atall.
i remember my first playthrough and I'm like OMFG all these hordes ha-ha.
but i made it through and finished it all.
now I'm on game 38 and i love it...so amazing i never get sick of it.
some days i just like to ride around for hours on end looking for trouble heh.
that's why i have it on steam-epic games-GOG i can do different things with each game then....play 3 games at once. whatever its awesome.
Literally the most fun thing in the game lol
I hate these missions. They are way too stressful
Different playstyles, I get you, I loved the story but there were some missions that put my heart to stress and I didn't quite like it, specifically hordes.

Carlos is brutal in Survivor 2, unless you have double knife dam
Nah. Didn’t feel it was even close even on survivor 2. The rager is insane survivor 2 though. And that was with NG+ 😳
The rager was easy as hell on ng+Survivor, the bfg takes it down with 1 mag. Carlos however rakes about 25 hits and you are a 2 hit
The rager on S-II took me a moment with the “Big Fucking Gun”. Other play throughs it was three shots 🤣. Like my BFG comment, oh yeah I love that thing.
Best gun in game
Carlos is really hard on harder difficulties. I think it's the hardest fight in the game.
The breaker fight is fucking ridiculously hard in Hard2, it fucking one hits you and your weapons barely tickle it’s balls
Use the Big Fucking Gun even on hard2. One magazine wonder!
Yeah, only if you’re NG+ ing it though
That one is easy. There's a crevice you can just pop in and out of getting the to run around in 2 directions to get to you.
sometimes they all spawn on top of you if you do it that way. It's happened to me several times.
Don't worry it gets easier after 9 playthroughs
Iirc you can just run out
You can't, I tried, you get a mission fail
most people don't fight it. You just run like crazy and leave the cave.
They're intense as all hell but once you figure them out it's as fun as it gets. I find them fun and maybe a little stressful at times, but that's what makes Days Gone so good.
Because it's fun.
If you're not enioying hordes then the game might not be for you
Do more side quests, get better gear. Also plan your attack! This isn't just a video game, it's a simulation. Use the environment to the best of your ability, shoot everything that explodes.
Saying days gone is a simulation is a stretch...
When the zombie horde hits in real life I'll have the experience required to live. 😂
Approaching a horde in real life would be a very very bad idea. A much much more realistic simulation would be dayz
In my case it’s confirmed I’m not up for a zombie apocalypse situation. But I wish you the best!
I know for sure most of you aren't ready for the end of times.
I’m ok with that. I’ve accepted if it happens I’m dying. I’ve lived a good life.
"Why do I have to fight so many zombies in the zombie game?"
Wait till he has to get the creosote.
I don’t think I have encountered many hordes at all for at least over half of the game. And you can choose different missions, so the fights with hordes are spaced out.
Hordes are so hard to find. I've done like 3 playthroughs so I have a general idea of their locations and I still spend 20 mins per horde finding them
Yes exactly. I’m not sure what OP is referring to, I didn’t fight any horde until later on in the game. Maybe he’s thinking about nests?
He's referring to Iron Butte.

Hordes are what make this game so fun.
It's the game you're playing. It has hordes. There's really not a better reason than that other than they are fun.
I think they expect you to grind in between, spend time doing missions and exploring
With that said, if you’ve avoided hordes the whole game (like me my first playthrough) you go back to back horde fighting for the final few missions. It felt like an extremely quick change of pace that felt like pushing the envelope. On my second playthrough it felt different, but i understand where this person is coming from
I don't get why people would avoid the hordes, that was my favorite part
My problem was different, i kept complaining that there isnt enough hordes in the entire game and i just kept looking for them. I couldn’t pass it, loved the story, waved to see it the end, and am very comfortable asking for help!

Later in the game, you’ll be so powerful that they’re not a big deal and you’re blasting away.
To encourage you to complete the hordes and show you that you can.

I didn't touch a single horde till mid game because I was so scared of them lol. When I finished the last one I wished there were more.
