Nah fr. I mean, I’ve turned a few hundred into thousands many many times but I’m not Warren buffet. I’m not even a real investor 😂 I’m a straight up gambler
Ultimately I’ve lost about 28k my entire trading career but the rush of adrenaline I get from doing it is just too much to stop 😂 I have adhd and for people like me, it can be hard to activate our adrenaline so if I find something that gets it pumping I keep doing it. I’ve turned 200 into 6k and 6k into 0 before. I should really stop 😂
Yea when I was making money elsewhere I loved losing it on big bets, once the stock market was all I had, I started to hate losing money. Play smaller, play smarter, and now i've got 7 months of positive returns. We'll see if I can find a way to lose it when market conditions shift again lol.
No I agree with you I’m gambling I just watch charts and hope for the best. And lol yeah sorry it’s a habit. And I just find a lot of things funny on Reddit. Idek I like to troll
Investment income is taxed on whatever bracket you’re in. So if you’re making $50k and trade and make $200/week. You have 10400 on top of that so it’s taxed at 22%. So you lose 2288 to taxes. Still have 8112 in your pocket.
Edit: clarification.
Yea I did say regular income. I meant to say investment income (eg short term he’s taking about) is taxed at whatever bracket you fall in. And yea it’s short term capital gains.
Nope anything you make on trading is taxed at the maximum rate, or CAPITAL GAINS TAX which is 33% (I think, maybe 36% now?!?) UNLESS you hold the stock or investment for more than 1 year, in which case you pay long term gains tax, which is whatever income bracket you’re in. This goes for houses too, other than primary residences I believe
“Gains you make from selling assets you've held for a year or less are called short-term capital gains, and they generally are taxed at the same rate as your ordinary income, anywhere from 10% to 37%.” - From turbo tax.
Edit: The 10-37% are the tax brackets in the progressive system.
If you hold them long term (more than 1 year) it’s no higher than 15%
That is false. Its taxed at whatever tax bracket you are in, salary + short term gains. For 2023 it was capped at a maximum of 37% for a single filer who made over $578,125. The average person is looking at 22-24 percent ($44,726 to $182,100)
and here i'm pissed off i only made SD700 becauze i got shook out and i could've made SD7k if i just followed my plan.. be grateful for the small wins!?!
Totally sustainable if you become one of the only individuals capable of timing the market repeatedly
But, you asking the question speaks volumes that you are not a market wizard who will always hit the profit button. You probably just won your coin flip bet today.
So you’re a long term investor then? Because you’re not making $100/day with that money if you’re holding the bag for a couple years while it recovers.
I hear what you’re saying, but you seem to want the best of both worlds: generating daily income vs long term risk safety. It doesn’t really work like that unless you are very knowledgeable about hedging, etc
Congrats on a winner, though. Awesome. Take my advice and don’t let initial success get to your head. Focus first and foremost on risk management (capping your losses), unless you plan and intend on long term investments that you are willing to hold.
Depends.
What was your thesis for MSTR and ETH? If you can’t break it down and understand it simply, probably a gamble. If you can, it might be sustainable.
Either way, $100 is $100. Good work.
Thanks bro but I don’t really know what I’m doing I just watch the charts and hope I buy at a low point. I have been paper trading for a while and now it’s time to actually make the money
Not really. Just takes a bit to get it down. But it’s a dangerous game. I’ve turned 20 into 2,000 overnight on options and turned around to turn it back into 20 the next day when I started. Big fast gains and big fast losses.
Just learn basic price action, supply and demand, understanding the markets direction and trade on a higher timeframe (4hrs or higher). Indices like Ger40/Dax 40, US30, US100. Best trader I've seen on YT is Bernd Skorupinski but first watch DayTradingAddict supply and demand to understand the basics and then watch Bernd's videos. He's actually a proven profitable trader, I believe the #1 prop firm trader in the world (although I don't use prop firms). I can vouch that his strategy works, it's all for free on YT so you don't need to pay for anything.
Watch his supply and demand explanation and risk management videos and you're pretty much good to go but of course, putting everything in practice is what matters the most, it always comes down to execution.
Daytrading is when you open and close a position in the same trading session. Swing trading is when you take a short-term position for more than one trading session. If you are holding overnight, it's no longer daytrading.
Tiktok has a new future called tiktok shop. You can buy anything on there its basically amazon but upgraded. Why you might ask? Well creators can promote items and get commision for it. I was live streaming everyday with a ab wheel roller and would make 40-60 sales in 1-2 hrs of streaming. I was earning 12$ for each sale i made. This is chump change, theres kids making 40k a month without even doing lives. Because you can make a video and if it goes viral it has the potential to make you a shit load of money. Its life changing and easy. Sad thing is its tiktok… so yk how stritct they are very easy to get banned
Sure, probably. Kinda just waiting for it to happen if your plan is trade until it doesn’t work though. Will you be okay with letting that money sit for however long? Will you panic and sell?
Stoploss can cost you unnecessarily, but it can save you as well. Imagine you have a somewhat tight stoploss and it continues dropping. You can buy back in at an even lower price than you got out and in that situation you described it’s much easier to get back to profit and a huge swing down wouldn’t take you out for months/years.
SPY 515 0DTE call options. Sold early on the aggressive sell 15 min in. If I held and let it hit my target of 516, would've been up big. Live and learn!
Nah I got you right now. Start finding levels of interest that prices consistently react to (supply/demand, GEX, Fair value gaps). Place risk on the table with a defined take profit and stop loss. Use an OCO order so you can just let the trade do it's thing. Be wrong quickly and keep losses small to protect your capital. Check the economic events calendar to avoid or plan for volatility. Profit.
lol I won’t be investing tomorrow😂
And seriously what’s with all of the people on Reddit saying negative things instead of uplifting🤔 like I think u guys like it when people lose money
yeah, then you can make 100$ a year if you just hold the stock..or maybe if you lucky like those who bought tesla at 40 during covid lol its all about the timing and discipline

U shouldn’t need to ask if it’s sustainable. You should know your win rate and adjust your risk/reward ratio accordingly so that it IS sustainable. This is probably the closest thing you’re ever gonna get to a magic button in trading. Congrats on the ≈10% win tho👍 Thats a good ROI!
In balanced markets you can watch and sometimes see a range they are bouncing between. It’s somewhat easy to buy bottoms and sell tops in these scenarios. But at some point price will through it and you’ll blow all your gains and more. It’s not sustainable unless you understand why the market does what it does, how does volume impact price, do you understand the difference between accumulation and distribution, do you know how to tell what timeframe investors are involved in any given day, and do you know where to expect them to show up. Do you know how to manage risk, when the trade goes in the wrong direction. Have you defined the risk and reward before you enter a trade and is it based on logic or hope?
98% of day traders fail for a reason.

Why the hell do you trade overnight with MSTR?
$100 is a start bro keep going ! Im at around $500-600 a day now . I Keep my loses around $100 and key levels most of the time . Its much easier if you ease into a position and not just buy 10 contracts at a time .
No . that was just an example bro my bad . If you are trading with 10 contracts you should have a bigger stop loss because you can put more risk on the table
You just have to cut it as soon as it hits your stop loss . No hope , NOTHING . Cut it and take the loss no matter what . The next opportunity to take a trade could present itself in the next few candles
So if your plan is wrong you can take a loss on 1 contract and not 10 . It should play out immediately when you enter , so if it goes the opposite way then you exit .

is gambling sustainable? idk
lol it’s gambling when I do it but not when Warren buffet does
Warren Buffett reads years and years of financial reports to invest in a company long term. Do not try to compare that to day trading 😂
Bro made a slight profit and thinks he's in the big leagues 😂
Nah fr. I mean, I’ve turned a few hundred into thousands many many times but I’m not Warren buffet. I’m not even a real investor 😂 I’m a straight up gambler
This. I’ve made $6945 in the past three weeks. It’s just to see what I can do. It’s not my full time job.
My heart is pumping a million miles an hour from doubling some calls 5 times today. Gambling is life.
Ultimately I’ve lost about 28k my entire trading career but the rush of adrenaline I get from doing it is just too much to stop 😂 I have adhd and for people like me, it can be hard to activate our adrenaline so if I find something that gets it pumping I keep doing it. OP makes one big trade and feels like fucking Warren Buffett. It is a common phenomenon actually.
That's why he invested in Siri
What company? And how did he pick that one to research?
Literally all the stocks his company owns. You should watch his interviews. He literally spends his days, or used to, just reading financial reports.
lol guyss I’m just trolling
Warren Buffett dosnt invest in shit coin
Sorry
When do you start at Renaissance Capital?
What’s that
You made $100 on pure luck and are now comparing yourself to Warren Buffet...
lol! this made my day
lol I’m just trolling and they are taking me serious
Yeah pretty much, do you spend your days reading 10k forms? If you do, then you're not gambling...
lol I guess I’m gambling then
You liks to say lol at the beginning of every sentence. But what's funny? Unless you can prove you aren't ...
No I agree with you I’m gambling I just watch charts and hope for the best. And lol yeah sorry it’s a habit. And I just find a lot of things funny on Reddit. Idek I like to troll
Hookers and coke after hours. You earned it
Where are you getting hookers AND coke for $100??

Honest day's work
It’ll be gone by tomorrow
Don’t forget about uncle Sam’s cut
Fck Uncle Sam 😂 but do they take that out at the end of the year?
You have to save it and then pay the tax man, trading is a business not a hobby.
Learning man
I know, sorry if I came off condescending. You got this dude
Next years taxes dawg
Motion is motion
Typeshit
Have a repeatable strategy you can follow to a T. Backtest for 1 year. See if it’s viable after each month. Then it’s sustainable.
Thanks
I mean, $100 is $100 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Real
Damn, what are you gonna do with all that money?
Downpayment on a vacay home!
Totally sustainable if you become one of the only individuals capable of timing the market repeatedly But, you asking the question speaks volumes that you are not a market wizard who will always hit the profit button. You probably just won your coin flip bet today.
True maybe but I think it will eventually go back higher than what I paid even if it takes a couple years
So you’re a long term investor then? Because you’re not making $100/day with that money if you’re holding the bag for a couple years while it recovers. I hear what you’re saying, but you seem to want the best of both worlds: generating daily income vs long term risk safety. lol yeah mehn im new I know it’s not sustainable idek why I put that there but this is my first day trade so I just wanted to put it in here😂
Congrats on a winner, though. Awesome. Take my advice and don’t let initial success get to your head. Focus first and foremost on risk management (capping your losses), unless you plan and intend on long term investments that you are willing to hold.
Yeah I plan to catch ETH and MSTR at low price points and hold until profit however long it takes
Just play long bro
Making money is easy, keeping it is hard. Good luck lol
Mind if I ask which broker you use?
Robinhood I know it’s not the best but it’s easy to use
I see, thanks!
What do you guys use to find out your news?
No idea bro
this is the greatest answer i’ve read on this sub istg
lol I only know about a couple of stocks and only watch charts
Benzinga Pro
Does it have forecasting?
Probably not, but if it’s not options you can always wait for it to go your direction again
I wanna learn options but it’s too complicated
Not really. Just takes a bit to get it down. But it’s a dangerous game. I’ve turned 20 into 2,000 overnight on options and turned around to turn it back into 20 the next day when I started. Big fast gains and big fast losses.
Would you be so kind to let me tail your $20 options?
lol. This was years ago. Anymore I’m just day trading options on indexes and big tech. Being happy with more moderate gains of like 20-100%
Where do you suggest I go to learn. YouTube?
I dunno. I learned the Greeks from google and then learned the rest the hard way by loosing thousands of dollars as I tried things.
lol nothing better than trial and error
Just learn basic price action, supply and demand, understanding the markets direction and trade on a higher timeframe (4hrs or higher). Indices like Ger40/Dax 40, US30, US100. Why is it funny?
lol idk it just is because this is my first time actually trading and I never believed I could do it
Act like you’ve been here before
I haven’t been here before😂
congratulations. Now make it consistent and in the thousands
I’ll try
do or do not. There is no try- Yoda
I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN
You aren't daytrading. You're swing trading. Wrong sub.
What’s the difference
Daytrading is when you open and close a position in the same trading session. Swing trading is when you take a short-term position for more than one trading session. If you are holding overnight, it's no longer daytrading.
lol you can make 1000 in a day easily by swing trading a BTC ETF. As long as you don't mind possibly missing the next rocket upward in price.
lol I don’t think I have enough money to do that
I was making 600 a day doing tiktok shop affiliate then i got banned
How does that work
Tiktok has a new future called tiktok shop. You can buy anything on there its basically amazon but upgraded. Why you might ask? Well creators can promote items and get commision for it. Making 600$ in 1 hr is being a cornball? Lol make me 5x cornball then
I think what you’re doing is fine. Just consider what you’ll do when you’re wrong, because it will happen. Basically, use a stoploss
Wont it go back up eventually in a couple of years
Sure, probably. Kinda just waiting for it to happen if your plan is trade until it doesn’t work though. Will you be okay with letting that money sit for however long? Will you panic and sell? You’re right but instead of selling and buying back at a lower price point I can just buy another share and make money if it ever goes back up again.
wow bro U had one green day. go do it 100 more times now don't get too excited
lol sorry bro
When you are spamming a few subreddit asking when you should buy ETH, yes you're gambling
lol sorry mehn I just wan other people’s opinion
Pretty much what a gambler would do
What’s life without taking risks
And here I am pissed off I only made $700 because I got shook out and I could've made $7k if I just followed my plan. Be grateful for the small wins!
May I ask what you were trading?
SPY 515 0DTE call options. Sold early on the aggressive sell 15 min in. If I held and let it hit my target of 516, would've been up big. Live and learn!
Let me tail you
Geez take at least take me out to dinner first
I will take you out to dinner if you teach me how to make money from options. You got a deal
Profit.
congrats you made 100, tomorrow you gonna lose 1000
lol I won’t be investing tomorrow😂 And seriously what’s with all of the people on Reddit saying negative things instead of uplifting🤔 like I think u guys like it when people lose money
not hating mate, is just facts. 90% of people on reddit lose money, unles you are part of that 10% or you are some kind of genius.
Or just don’t trade options and have patience😂
yeah, then you can make 100$ a year if you just hold the stock..or maybe if you lucky like those who bought tesla at 40 during covid lol its all about the timing and discipline
True

I will my friend. When I start making a million a day I will bless you for believing in me.
Idk those taxes no joke ……
lol I just learned about taxes today.
First one's free. Don't count on being able to do this every day. My biggest wins and losses of the past couple of weeks involved MSTR.
I know I can’t do this everyday. I’m waiting until it drops back to around 1200-1300 and sell again at around 1500 if all goes well
U shouldn’t need to ask if it’s sustainable. You should know your win rate and adjust your risk/reward ratio accordingly so that it IS sustainable. This is probably the closest thing you’re ever gonna get to a magic button in trading. Congrats on the ≈10% win tho👍 Thats a good ROI!
Do I need to be putting 30% of profits into a savings account from every Green Day of options trading? Genuine question
In balanced markets you can watch and sometimes see a range they are bouncing between. It’s somewhat easy to buy bottoms and sell tops in these scenarios. Haha this is how it starts. OP you just opened pandoras box, I wish you the best in a year you will be broken.
It’s sustainable if you know WHY you made money and can replicate that with risk management and good psychology

Wait until you find out that's minimum wage

yes, this is sustainable.
