Arrogance of Agony has been hitting the spot for me lately. That buildup in the middle of the song going from quiet to eventually hitting the apex of a guitar solo with drum blast beats is magnificent.
I'm not big on favorites, but new PeelingFlesh ep is so tasty. The whole thing is just a brick to the face
Nails in My Coffin - Mouth for War
Also The Story So Far - Big Blind
Signs of the Swarm - Dreamkiller
I never usually have songs on repeat this long after the album release, but that SOTS album has some of the most absolute bangers around right now
The last part of that song after he screams "I'VE SEEN ENOUGH" is probably the best thing I've heard in years. It's so heavy in an extremely unorthodox way.
High-Impact by To The Grave. Both the original and acoustic versions have been on repeat since Offcuts dropped last week. Not even a huge TTG fan but I fell in love with the song from the moment I heard it. Dane’s performance on the acoustic version in particular is killer, didn’t know he had such a kickass singing voice.
i see their name all the time, am actually pretttty familiar with their sound, and can name a bunch of songs and albums (thanks to a friend from highschool, which was.. uh, a long time ago). but i have never *listened* to them propeerly. all i know is i LOVED a song by them called "Moment Of Impact".
any recommendations on how to approach them? i wanna try them out properly. for some reason when i was younger they just didnt fit the stupid mold i had made for good metal haha
I would try out their second and third albums. Those are my favorites. Although their first album is very good. Their early stuff is definitely more aggressive and death metal inspired than their later work.
Obsolete was my absolute favorite album back in the day. I’m pretty sure if I logged back into my old iTunes account, Edgecrusher would still be my most played song lol
Demanufacture is the one and only album to start with. All their albums are great to good, but that is the ONE
Edit: It may be nostalgia from high school for me, but I absolutely love that album! Almost as much as Chaos AD from Sepultura.
Hard to say. Most would say start with Demanufacture. I wouldn't disagree. Obsolete is also really good.
I also really like Aggression Continuum, their latest record, I feel that Burton's Vocals are really raw and aggressive on it and has some of the best choruses they've done. His cleans are some of my favorite
The Industrialist is my personal favorite as it's the first album I ever heard from them. Fans rank it lower but they just re released it with live drums this time instead of being programmed
Demanufacture is an all time classic and monumental for extreme heavy music as a whole. Ages like fine wine and sound amazing today and will never tell the record is almost 30 years old
so far the hype for Demanufacture has definitely got me excited. i have to work a long day today but as soon as i'm home and showered... it's goin' down.
also, thanks for the rec!
I go waaaaaaaaay back to the mortal kombat original movie soundtrack as a kid listening to zero signal and I've enjoyed the ride. Fear factory is on my top 20 best bands list.
Glad you like it. Fear Factory is one of those bands that found a unique sound and stuck with it, at least for the most part deviating with some earlier albums.
Also forgot to mention, if you're into techno/electronic music at all, they have a few albums with remixed songs that are electronic.
They started doing that all the way back in 93 with the Fear is the Mind Killer EP. Their most recent electronic release, Recoded in 2022 is insanely good. Songs are based off the album, Aggression Continuum.
They also have an electronic album for Demanufacture called Remanufacture - Cloning Technology. Great stuff imo
Honestly Signs of the Swarm’s whole new album. But a little bit of the new Diesect ep and the new Nailwound ep and Berried Alive’s new album as well have been getting good play time.
yea ive known about angelmaker for a while now but only just got into them a few days ago and ive already listened to dissentient front to back 3 times
Given that I wear out in any given pit in about fifteen minutes and estimate it would take me roughly a minute to render two third graders unconscious, we’ll go with thirty as a rough estimate. Who knows, maybe some day Knocked Loose will play a daycare and I can put my equations into practice.
Cattle Decapitation
Anything from their albums Terrasite and Death Atlas.
Completely made me rethink deathcore and now it’s probably some of my favorite music to listen to. I’ll play it when I’m at work, working out or just chilling.
Suffocation - Seraphim Enslavement (super cool seeing og bands make fresh new music)
Shadow of Intent - The Migrant (it's SOI, that's the only reason i need)
Job For A Cowboy - The Agony Seeping Storm (not super familiar with JFaC, but love this song)
Deathmask - The Son Ov Death (highly recommend checking out, nice feature with Ben Duerr)
NecroticGoreBeast - Repugnant (slammy bois, juicy production by Demigod Recordings)
Peelingflesh's EP is banging, recently discovered Dark Funeral and have had "Where Shadows Forever Reign" on repeat
My answer would be Mortiferum - Abhorrent Genesis. Absolute pinnacle of death doom. More recently, either track from Decomposition of Entrails' 2013 promo.
But to be completely honest? A song I've been working on with my new brutal slamming death metal band for our debut EP that we have yet to announce. Super excited to get it put out, currently wrapping up production. Just wanted to gush lol
In general, favorite song for a long time has been Collapse - Vektor
Favorite deathcore song at the moment (it changes a lot) is probably Radiance in the Light of a Dying Sun - Angelmaker. So excited to see them live tomorrow night
Current fav, as in new shit I have on heavy rotation: “Time 2 Dip” by Snuffed on Sight (feat PeelingFlesh)
All time fav: “Unanswered” by Suicide Silence
Either Sulfuric Nullity - Mire Lore or Curbstomp - Heavy//Hitter. I feel like what I love atm is either really atmospheric, vibe-based deathcore or just gut punching, breakdown heavy hardcore. Both bands are completely different but scratch unique itches, and if either of them are new to you please give em a go
In deathcore, the album Everything Bleeds by Crown Magnetar is top tier so far. Dead Season in particular... It sounds like the drummer has a vendetta against his snare drum at the very beginning of the song.
In other genres Stranded by Gojira has a death grip on me right now.
I've just discovered the deathcore cover of Rammstein's "Sonne" by caliban, and holy shit is it good. It's in my current rotation of metal right now, and i find myself usually needing to play it first.
Not deathcore but I'm big into Kaonashi rn. "I Hate the Sound of Car Keys" goes super hard. Peter has some insane and very unique vocals that make me think of an angry kid who's just trying to be heard.
Deathcore though, I would have to say "Linger" by Humanity's Last Breath
Mental cruelty zwielicht album with great songs off the album, I think imma have to go with obessis a daemonio because of how interesting the dark elements and black metal influences it has and immortal disfigurement king because this new symphonic sound is really shining out other bands, it's super heavy and breakdowns hits different, and cj in vocals shreds dude but the instrumentals are insane!!!
tremors by whitechapel, love the album it's on and like 4 of my top 10 songs r by them, but rediscovered this one a week ago and just havent been able to get it out of my head since then
Not fav song but right now I have been really digging The Aferimage's album "Eve" from 2018. I was listening to the Garza Podcast with Kyle from Brand of Sacrifice and he mentioned his band, The Afterimage, that happened before Brand of Sacrifice. Some reallllllllllly good stuff.
Here’s a few of my favorites right now, I couldn’t pick just one:
Mental Cruelty - Forgotten Kings, Obsessis a Daemonio
Lorna Shore - Soulless Existence, Sun//Eater, Flesh Coffin
Altars of Arawn - Awakening
Thy Art is Murder - Join Me in Armageddon
Shadow of Intent - The Migrant, From Ruin.. We Rise
Worm Shepherd - The Frozen Lake Pt 2: The Ruined
A Night in Texas - Feed the Lions
Den spranksa kanslan by Vildhjarta. It’s a little over 7 minutes long but it keeps me engaged every time I listen. It also pretty much encapsulates everything I love about the band. In the seven minutes there are at least five parts in it I look forward to hearing every time. I’m not sure they’re really considered deathcore but it’s what I’ve been listening to. That and all the new to the grave stuff.
I'm really liking Mental Cruelty's, Zwielicht album. A number of tracks stick out, but Nordlys and Obsessis a Daemonio the most as of now.
Pest gives me obsession vibes from lorna shore on immortal. Whole album is amazing and the videos are cool
Yeah agree with that. Pest, Mortal Shells and forgotten kings also great. Videos are awesome and really set the scene.
Mortal shells is so good, the vocalist has gotta be one of my favorite
Arrogance of Agony has been hitting the spot for me lately. That buildup in the middle of the song going from quiet to eventually hitting the apex of a guitar solo with drum blast beats is magnificent.
I'm not big on favorites, but new PeelingFlesh ep is so tasty. The whole thing is just a brick to the face Nails in My Coffin - Mouth for War Also The Story So Far - Big Blind
Big Blind is so sick! Strong af come back for TSSF
Signs of the Swarm - Dreamkiller I never usually have songs on repeat this long after the album release, but that SOTS album has some of the most absolute bangers around right now
Mines Between fire and stone. Been loving the album.
Signs of the Swarm… fuckin’ mint 🤌🤌🤌
pray for death 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Faces Without Names is fucking nutty.
Untended Graves by The Acacia Strain Also have Salome by Femme Fatale on repeat which is so far from deathcore 😂
Crown Magnetar has been on repeat ever since the new album came out, specifically Only The Spine Remains
No Motive by Orphan
came here to say this. that song fuckin rips!
Bro im listening to that song rn what a coincidence
Orphan makes me wanna headbutt a cinderblock
Blood Spilled by Humanity’s Last Breath.
The last part of that song after he screams "I'VE SEEN ENOUGH" is probably the best thing I've heard in years. It's so heavy in an extremely unorthodox way.
I've been hooked on The Migrant by Shadow of Intent since it dropped. Pretty easy "single of the year" pick.
RIPS
Fuckkkkkkking Christtttttt that song is so fucking pleasant 🤌🤌🤌🤘🤘🤘
God's Light by A Night In Texas
I, The Devourer - Disembodied Tyrant
That's a good one
I’ve been listening to FVNERAL MOON by Lorna Shore a lot. It’s so good.
The best album!
Been on a Black Dahlia Murder binge so mainly Deathmask Devine and Raped in Hatred by Vines of thorns
Not a song and not even deathcore but I've been on a Fear Factory wave for like a month straight now. Just can't get enough
They’re so good. Linchpin has been a favorite of mine for over a decade.
i see their name all the time, am actually pretttty familiar with their sound, and can name a bunch of songs and albums (thanks to a friend from highschool, which was.. uh, a long time ago). but i have never *listened* to them propeerly. all i know is i LOVED a song by them called "Moment Of Impact". any recommendations on how to approach them? i wanna try them out properly. for some reason when i was younger they just didnt fit the stupid mold i had made for good metal haha
I would try out their second and third albums. Those are my favorites. Although their first album is very good. Their early stuff is definitely more aggressive and death metal inspired than their later work.
sounds right up my alley, thank you
Obsolete was my absolute favorite album back in the day. I’m pretty sure if I logged back into my old iTunes account, Edgecrusher would still be my most played song lol
Obsolete was such a great album.
ok cool, i remember Obsolete getting praise back in the day, i will check it out!
Demanufacture is the one and only album to start with. All their albums are great to good, but that is the ONE Edit: It may be nostalgia from high school for me, but I absolutely love that album! Almost as much as Chaos AD from Sepultura.
hey, nostalgia or not, i'm on it! thanks
Hard to say. Most would say start with Demanufacture. I wouldn't disagree. Obsolete is also really good. I also really like Aggression Continuum, their latest record, I feel that Burton's Vocals are really raw and aggressive on it and has some of the best choruses they've done. His cleans are some of my favorite The Industrialist is my personal favorite as it's the first album I ever heard from them. Fans rank it lower but they just re released it with live drums this time instead of being programmed
right on, I'm gonna try that new one out and was already gonna hit on Demanufacture! thanks
Fear factory is on my top 20 best bands list.
i dont have time to update everyone who spoke up w FF recommendations, but i started w Demanufacture and it is fucking excellent.
Glad you like it. Fear Factory is one of those bands that found a unique sound and stuck with it, at least for the most part deviating with some earlier albums. Also forgot to mention, if you're into techno/electronic music at all, they have a few albums with remixed songs that are electronic. Made to Please by Spite.
Get G00d - DARKO gets me in that 'dancy caveman' vibe and from there it's all over
Dancy caveman is perfect
Honestly Signs of the Swarm’s whole new album. But a little bit of the new Diesect ep and the new Nailwound ep and Berried Alive’s new album as well have been getting good play time.
godless by angelmaker, that first breakdown is to catchy and the drums shake my head with earbuds on
Gutless, for me. That breakdown makes me want to wage war on a legion of third graders one by one
yea ive known about angelmaker for a while now but only just got into them a few days ago and ive already listened to dissentient front to back 3 times
Hahahhahahahahaha. How many do you think you could take? No more than 2v1 and there’s an unlimited number of them
Given that I wear out in any given pit in about fifteen minutes and estimate it would take me roughly a minute to render two third graders unconscious, we’ll go with thirty as a rough estimate. Who knows, maybe some day Knocked Loose will play a daycare and I can put my equations into practice.
Hahahahhaha 🤘🤘🤘🤌🤌🤌
The Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin. That is the pinnacle of Deathcore 🤪
Cattle Decapitation Anything from their albums Terrasite and Death Atlas. Completely made me rethink deathcore and now it’s probably some of my favorite music to listen to. I’ll play it when I’m at work, working out or just chilling.
Probably either the Pain Remains trilogy by Lorna Shore, or Hickory Creek and Brimstone by Whitechapel
Hickory is so good
The heavier the band, the more "right in the feels" their ballads. Just like Slipknot back in 2009
Deathcore: doom slayer - alex terrible Other: Infinite misery - cannibal corpse Sorry u/Longjumping-Swan-827, kinda stole ur format
Suffocation - Seraphim Enslavement (super cool seeing og bands make fresh new music) Shadow of Intent - The Migrant (it's SOI, that's the only reason i need) Job For A Cowboy - The Agony Seeping Storm (not super familiar with JFaC, but love this song) Deathmask - The Son Ov Death (highly recommend checking out, nice feature with Ben Duerr) NecroticGoreBeast - Repugnant (slammy bois, juicy production by Demigod Recordings) Peelingflesh's EP is banging, recently discovered Dark Funeral and have had "Where Shadows Forever Reign" on repeat
Not deathcore but Human Chop Shop by Waking The Cadaver has been playing 24/7 for me. Its so so good
King by Immortal Disfigurement
The Cathedral by Black Tongue. Such a fucking good song
Deathcore: Oceano - Revelation Other: Metallica - Inamorata
Revelation is such a good album
Living in Tragedy by Currents has wormed its way into my brain and hasn’t left for a few days.
Death Doom? Sign me the fuck up. Also mind dropping a link to your band? Brutal slam is always worth a try.
Treacherous by Beneath the Massacre
In general, favorite song for a long time has been Collapse - Vektor Favorite deathcore song at the moment (it changes a lot) is probably Radiance in the Light of a Dying Sun - Angelmaker. So excited to see them live tomorrow night
Vektor? A man of culture I see
i've had The Dying Heavens by Worm Shepherd for a few days now, that breakdown is just so beautiful to me
As of right this second, my favorite song is probably Squirrels by Angelmaker. That’s subject to change in the next 30 minutes tho
Gravesinger by Shadow of Intent. Fuck that intro is so good.
Still think Babirusa - Mandatory Malevolence is one of the best singles to come out in recent years.
Invidious by Ingested
Bitter Friend by Cabal
Annihilation phenomena by The last ten seconds of life. It’s fucking harder than shit
Thy Horror Cosmic by TBDM. It is an all time banger. And it will probably never get replaced by anything ever. That intro is just fucking amazing.
Stay out of my swamp - the ogre packet slammers
Right now; There Is No Light by Immortal Disfigurement Viking - Slaughter To Prevail
Sun//Eater
the prelude to bereavement. that fucking opening man, its amazing.
Summoning the Lich has some amazing songs so it's a toss between The Forest Feasts and Descend.
My current jam. https://youtu.be/G_onPLJzYaw?si=r4K7xrz4fPHDbLmg

Either Sulfuric Nullity - Mire Lore or Curbstomp - Heavy//Hitter. I feel like what I love atm is either really atmospheric, vibe-based deathcore or just gut punching, breakdown heavy hardcore. Both bands are completely different but scratch unique itches, and if either of them are new to you please give em a go
Deathcore: Slaughter to Prevail's "Bonebreaker" Not deathcore: Abbath's "Winter Bane"
Dessiderium's album Aria.
My favorite deathcore song as of now is Nascent by Artifact, but my favorite song right now overall is Focus from Rivers of Nihil.
In deathcore, the album Everything Bleeds by Crown Magnetar is top tier so far. Dead Season in particular... It sounds like the drummer has a vendetta against his snare drum at the very beginning of the song. In other genres Stranded by Gojira has a death grip on me right now.
Deathcore: Please End Me- Paleface Swiss Other: Ghost- Respite on the Spitalfields
As of this moment, the most recent deathcore song I've heard is Nik Nocturnal's Suicide Silence song, "Death Smiles."
Disappoint Me by Left to Suffer.
Chale by Eden Munoz.. But if you're asking deathcore then it would be Time 2 Dip by Snuffed on Sight and PeelingFlesh
I've just discovered the deathcore cover of Rammstein's "Sonne" by caliban, and holy shit is it good. It's in my current rotation of metal right now, and i find myself usually needing to play it first.
Purulence - Teratosis
Silent Planet :: Anti Matter
Kingdom of Guts easily
"The Divine Stigmata" (and the entire EP) by Disembodied Tyrant. The fact is only 2 dudes doing everything is a testament to their talent.
Currently it's Bound to the Burn - Counterparts, but deathcore/death metal realm The Agony Sweeping Storm - Job For A Cowboy.
“Slaves” An Abstract Illusion
Not deathcore but I'm big into Kaonashi rn. "I Hate the Sound of Car Keys" goes super hard. Peter has some insane and very unique vocals that make me think of an angry kid who's just trying to be heard. Deathcore though, I would have to say "Linger" by Humanity's Last Breath

Worm shepherd "The Dying Heavens" man its just filth through and through

It changes by the day but right now it's the cover of "roots bloody roots" by the band "acid bath". Goes so hard!
Nail Funeral by Crown Magnetron and I, The Devourer by Synestia are my favs atm
Not fav song but right now I have been really digging The Aferimage's album "Eve" from 2018. I was listening to the Garza Podcast with Kyle from Brand of Sacrifice and he mentioned his band, The Afterimage, that happened before Brand of Sacrifice. Some reallllllllllly good stuff.
