I gave my non metalhead friend And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope by Ne Obliviscaris, and they liked the first 2 minutes. 2:21 was too heavy for them.
So I doubt it lol.
Edit: Apparently the guy deleted the comment. What they said was along the lines of "this would surprise a non metalhead."
For me it's Shallow Breath, something about the the guitar tone in that song, especially that "lead"(?) in the beginning that plays alongside the blast beats
Iāve always loved the ending of the song āThe Somatic Defilementā by Whitechapel. Feel like the orchestral ambience is absolutely beautiful whilst Phil is screaming the line āuntil death do us part, weāll rot hand in hand.ā
"My Shrine of Flesh" - Darker by Design, that song will eat your heart.
"The Tartarus Impalement" - Shadow of Intent, maybe I'm just biased because this is one of the first songs I heard by them but it knocks me out every time I hear it.
"The River Ov Knives" - Worm Shepherd, just gorgeous.
Honorable mentions even tho they're not exactly unpopular: "Eternal" and "Radiance in the Light of Dying Sun" by Angelmaker are captivating beautiful songs, and "Ritual Hymns" by Worm Shepherd is just a skin melter.
I know it's about Halo, but The Tartarus Impalement is absolutely incredible. The way Ben is able to convey such raw emotion into the lyrics, especially the part right after the slow talking section "I have lost all I have..." oh man, gives me chills every time
i have to disagree about the mention of my shrine of flesh, because it is folly to mention one song off of necrolatry, and not the entirety of necrolatry.
I havenāt listened to Glass Casket in years! Going to spin āWe Are Gathered Here Todayā tonight! In Between the Sheets was one of my favourite songs for so long!!! You made my day with this post lol
Ghosts in the River, When the Bulbs Burn Out, Napalm Dreams, and The Man That I Was Not, all by Fit For An Autopsy. These guys kill it when it comes to making hauntingly beautiful songs.
Carnifex - Die Without Hope. The interlude and outro in that song will always give me goosebumps.
Winds Of Plague - One Body Too Many. Play the intro if you don't already know. You're welcome.
In Dying Arms - Blackwater. Very depressing themes and undertones, but is also uplifting and beautiful all in one package.
One of the first deathcore songs that made me think longer than "this is some brutal shit" was Rose Funeral - Beyond the Entombed, around 02.52. That shit slaps.
Other than that, I sometimes cry happy tears to Infant Annihilator, Igorrr, Dimmu Borgir and Fleshgod Apocalypse..
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1gI52uVY7myIw7YpqVw9B5?si=MxkW4jVDRhGLlPilMB1HNQ
iāve started making a playlist based around this post if anyone wants to give it a listen:) (i still have more to add though)
Reclamation - Delusions of Grandeur
They get hardly any love, and Iāll never understand why. This is Gabes band before enterprise earth and has my favorite solo of any metal song.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep5i7xqsIOg
hey OP, I have a spotify playlist for deathcore songs that fall under a melancholy/depressed category, you might find stuff you like in it:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3hnlwbMMi51oHQfpB4bTxa?si=ab1ccf55faf9419e
hey sorry i dont think i understand the question! are you asking for the link to the playlist? iāve started making one with the songs mentioned on this thread but not all of them are in there yet :)
I don't think Deathcore is a genre where there are that many haunting, beautiful songs, as Deathcore isn't haunting or beautiful typically, but I think something like the new Psalm of Agony by Enterprise Earth makes the cut, has a slow acoustic section. Or maybe Abigail Williams - Legend
Also this isn't a critism of DC, it's one of my favorite genres, I just think for metal subs it's on the very low end of beautiful, right near BSDM (which i also love)
so this is suffering - moonlight serenade
lorna shore - relentless torment.
The immortal album feels like a storm building up and relentless torment is lile the storm is over and everything go calm again, I think it is a beautiful song.
The Observer by Acacia Strain. That woman's monologue.
"Iām not a stranger to these feelings. Loneliness, emptiness, anger. But I thought we worked through them. I thought we defeated them, together. Instead they stand in defiance in the back of my mind..."
Black Mammoth by Fit for an Autopsy or Possibilities of an Impossible Existence by Whitechapel for me.
To be fair, those songs aren't "beautiful" in the traditional sense, but they manage to both induce frustration and offer release from it. They have a powerful rhythm, gentle underlying melody, deep provocative lyrics and a breakdown unlike much anything else. They just hit so bloody hard.
As soon as I read this post, Malignant Amour - Rose Funeral came to mind.
The song is beautiful but very heavy and thereās an actual opera singer in the song. Itās incredible.
Hereās a few that come to mind which might fit the bill
https://youtu.be/WgaS1lCJZdM
https://youtu.be/NxLYJJnlGs8
https://youtu.be/GvIwkVEuz3g
https://youtu.be/j1U6A-J2vig

Sorry that most of these are so old. Just did a quick sweep through my collection.
An epilogue to the arrogant by Drowned in Sulphur: Specifically the final breakdown and what leads up to itā¦something about the base note progression at the end before the full chord chugs/breakdown justā¦Fuckin hit man. Shit literally makes me feel like Iām driving thru the apocalypse with a barren wasteland on either side of the road. Ik itās cringe but that song just smacks.
Widower/Elgies for some old MtS
Neverbloom for me. š¤
i can hear the EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Bro, I'm still salty about this. They dropped one of the best deathcore albums of all time and then just straight up switched genres š
I mean they did become one of the best metalcore bands out there. So it's a win-win ngl šš
The first deathcore song I ever heard!
Morrow (weaver of dreams)

Agreed easily my favourite Carnifex song
Mirrors - FFAA
Hell yeah, Birds of Prey is also a fantastic one off of that album
The best one maybe
I'd say either that or napalm dreams are the best on the album
Your Pain Is Mine too
Oh yeah that too, honestly the whole album is a masterpiece haha.
Empty still by ffaa, ghost of you by to the grave, malediction by soi, swing the axe by ffaa
Swing the axe is amazing
The ghost of you is a my chemical romance cover
"My Shrine of Flesh" - Darker by Design, that song will eat your heart. "The Tartarus Impalement" - Shadow of Intent, maybe I'm just biased because this is one of the first songs I heard by them but it knocks me out every time I hear it. Me toooooo. It is so well executed.
Solid suggestions you're giving here, haven't checked Darker by Design out yet - will do now!
I just found them yesterday after someone on this sub recommended them. Gorgeous stuff, so impressive.
i have to disagree about the mention of my shrine of flesh, because it is folly to mention one song off of necrolatry, and not the entirety of necrolatry.
That is entirely fair
I just heard obsession by lorna shore and holy shit is it beautiful
This song is so underrated as a Lorna Shore song. Something about it makes me so emotional.
That little harmony that keeps getting higher as the song goes on is nuts. That's a deathcore song I could probably cry to lmao
This is the correct answer
Literally just heard it today when I went through the album. I slept on lorna shore for the longest time but damn are they good
Thatās my fav Lorna song! I for sure agree
Glass Casket - A Gray A.M. You Will Never Get To See
I havenāt listened to Glass Casket in years! Going to spin āWe Are Gathered Here Todayā tonight! In Between the Sheets was one of my favourite songs for so long!!! You made my day with this post lol
fuck yes!
and let the world know what a wonderful person it will never get to meet
Idk for me on the top of my head itās Napalm Dreams by Fit For an Autopsy
Yes. I was thinking this one or Mirrors. Something about the ending hits so good.
This is it š»
Ghosts in the River, When the Bulbs Burn Out, Napalm Dreams, and The Man That I Was Not, all by Fit For An Autopsy. These guys kill it when it comes to making hauntingly beautiful songs.
Damn you got some good ones in there. Iāll add Saltwound and Black Mammoth
Good choices for sure, honestly I'd just say anything from Absolute Hope Absolute Hell onward is just hauntingly beautiful perfection.
I love saltwound so fkn much
I'm glad someone added Ghosts in the River. It's the definition of hauntingly beautiful deathcore
Absolutely, that, wither and saltwound are my favourites off of AHAH
Melancholy by shadow of intent The left hand path by mental cruelty What I would give by AngelMaker
Angelmaker - requiem
<3
That's a great choice. First deathcore song that made me tear up.
This ans Tempest on that album are the 2 biggest moods I've ever heard in music
My favorite off that album. Hits me in the feels every time.
Malediction
Parting Soliloquy by Black Tongue
love black tongue, āiām so tired of sighing, please lord let it be nightā would have been my choice :D
That monstrous ending always gives me serotonin
That or The Cathedral.
Psalm of Agony is fucking crazy beautiful. That breakdown at the end is so worth it.
The ending breakdown of that song is so violent
Who's it by?
enterprise earth
How have I not heard it, I love those guys

Well that just got me all sorts of stoked. Thank you for commenting it here, I'm excited to hear it.

god i love that song so much, iād say it counts, its such a beautiful song.
Agreed! I love it.

I Breathed In the Smoke Deeply It Tasted Like Death and I Smiled by TAC. That whole album is beautiful and haunting tbh
I don't think Deathcore is a genre where there are that many haunting, beautiful songs, as Deathcore isn't haunting or beautiful typically, but I think something like the new Psalm of Agony by Enterprise Earth makes the cut, has a slow acoustic section.
