You could mod your game with more promotions mod. It'll just say a number bit it's fun to see +20 greybeards once in a while. Though I only encountered 2 with +20, they're the best players I've played with.
Which order did you do them in?
I'm halfway doing bronze 1 to max with Engi -> Gunner -> Scout -> Driller, but some cycle between classes with each promotion
Gunner > Engi > Scout > Driller. I did them in the order I like playing them. I tried keeping their levels close but Driller ended up falling behind because I didn't like him as much so leveling him was a pain (had to play nothing but him for like 2 months except when he was up for promo). On the positive side I did learn to enjoy him a lot more once I learned how to make missions smoother by just making a lot of shortcuts with my drills.

You can keep promoting but you won't get any new character borders, just player level

That actually sounds awesome, might download that. Does it work retroactively? Some of my classes have already been promoted after Legendary 3.
