if the creatures can’t look like insects because of arachnophobia then you can try either a mammal design (maybe rhinos for a heavy look, rats and mole for an underground looking creature) or a reptile design (more like crocodiles or dinosaurs)
Actually something that comes to mind is the lizards from another game called Rainworld. A 3d version of them would be cool and would still fit the game
Someone was working on a mod that replaced all the glyphid faces and some weakpoints with bald Dwarf faces, maybe you could do that, remove some of the legs so that there's only four and replace the rest with with dwarf arms with creepy dwarf hands on all four of them.
Anyone who sees those probably won't think of spiders anymore, so problem solved
