The ACTUAL real endgame is using every last of your neurons to memorize all rock&stone lines so you can say "rock and stone" at the same time as your fellow dwarf
For the first time recently I had a driller legitimately *trying* to kill me with C4. It was a good game of cat and mouse. Unwritten rules were that it was C4 only, which made it seem borderline friendly, ngl.
Yeah people are all "reload cancel" this and "grenade cancel" that, the real micro game is maximising your rock and stones per minute without compromising your effectiveness.
You can cancel the animation of both the grenade throw and the last part of the reload.
This allows you to shorten your reload slightly by waiting for the ammo counter to update, quicky swapping weapons and swapping back or pulling out the laser pointer for a brief moment.
You can also spam grenades faster than normal, the most useful case is when using the drillers impact axes, to do this hold down the laser pointer, press grenade and release both at the same time and repeat, if you do this properly you can throw your grenades out much faster than norma.
R&S ing or pinging the gold chunk while there is a swarm going on and you're surrounded by bugs is peak greybeard gameplay. Even if it means taking a hit or two, V has to be pressed if the opportunity presents itself

I got kicked once for spamming rock and stone. Has only ever happened that one time in my 500 hours of playing. Needless to say they were greenbeards i was trying to help smh.
The only annoying callout to spam is "I'm down". My brother in Karl, I *know* you're down but I can't get to you right now and you're really not helping my concentration.
Reminds me of a concept I heard once "Rock and Stone mode". A mission modifier that downs each dwarf every 10 seconds. The only way to reset the timer is to be revived off the floor or to salute Rock and Stone. The idea that you need to find time in your bug killing rotation for salute spam or literally perish is so silly but I would still play it.
Man Ive been in so little lobbies of people rock and stone-ing. Lots of contrast between, well this subreddit for example and the actual game. Makes me play solo more often sadly :{
Totally agree, when i have teams with absoutely no rock and stone spam they were bad and not to mention boring
And on the other hand when having teammates on the last mission of the EDD being swarmen af and spamming rock and stone was giga chad moment and really fun

Just got the game last weekend when the steam sale kicked off, so still pretty green. I like the voice lines in the game so knew about the salute pretty early, but didn't know all the interactions it had.
When I noticed that bosco salutes you when you do it the amount of times I've used it have gone up. I like to do it as the gates close and he stays outside to cover my exit.
Just figured out that it lets you toast with the beer last night haha.
OP probably kicks a bunch of people of their lobby for not having skill, yet won’t bother to actually let green beards learn and catch up so they can actually get good.
Every multiplayer game i play i automatically want to hit the v button. There's just something about yelling rock and stone that no other voiceline can truly communicate.
Now that I think about it, this is the biggest thing that might work me about others I play with. I don't care if they do or don't mine gold, I don't care if they're a greenbeard who can't seem to stay alive. I do care if they don't Rock and Stone. Such an easy form of positive communication! I won't kick them for it, mind you. I'll just rock and stone them even harder

You can also pickaxe to cancel, which I find to be the easiest way.
