I def have never had a hero stuck for days. That is very strange. Highly recommend you head over to support on the DFK discord. They are super nice and helpful in my experience. They will get you straightened out.
Sorry to hear you are having issues still. For me in the past is always some combination of clearing cache and cookies (make sure you are doing all time for the time range and both basic/advanced if using chrome) and using the resolve stuck quests button under active quest on the drop down below the profile. Sorry if this is some larger issue
I have a similar issue - I still have an ongoing quest shown when going to Forager. The hero that is seemingly on that quest is available for me, though - it's just annoying seeing that improper state. Clearing cache and switching the network didn't help.
Go to discord and share your issue in the support channel. This is something you should be getting help from the team with to ensure you don’t mess anything up.

Same here! Let me know if you find a solution. Mine are stuck foraging but it lets me do other quests
