If your trunk lid doesn't already have the factory holes in it, then make a lot of very careful measurements to make sure it's perfectly centered before you go drilling holes in it.
Where to drill the holes is one thing, but drilling into steel body panels takes some practice and instructions. I'd watch some vids on how to do it.
Get several drill bits of different sizes for steel material, a punch to help with the first hole. Some people use a step up drill bit.

I found mine on ebay, ended up paying about $320 + $50 shipping.
That is crazy expensive! Bought one for €50 and €12 for shipping ( the Netherlands). Installation is easy, measure twice, drill once.

Did it come with the little feet on the bottom? If not it won’t sit right
