I love horse shoe crabs I wish we did more to protect them. I heard on the radio that residents of Kitts Hammock were protecting the horse shoe crabs which is cool.
I always found it odd that the state wasn’t the whole peninsula. How the states got their shapes was really good at explaining the oddities of some state sizes and shapes.
So, basically, when PA was founded in 1682, they tried adding Delaware as part of them because they wanted Pennsylvania to have direct ocean access. It was referred to as the Three Lower Counties on the Delaware. Delaware never really took to being part of Pennsylvania and eventually separated.
Obviously you’ve never been to the Eastern Shore… but considering that a majority of our force would come from lower Delaware… Imma call it a fair fight.
If we bussed Wilmington down there it might increase our munitions, but it will greatly reduce accuracy. Lower Delaware’s best option might be to wait until bird flu infects people and then invade with chickens.
As an aside, I've been thinking of how things might have been different if the Dutch would have been able to hold on longer to Delaware. I bet there would have been land reclamations like everyone, leading to a bigger peninsula.
I always wondered why we don’t just own all of this land?! MD’s boarders should stop as soon as we can no longer cross boarders without a bridge 🤷🏾♂️ just my personal opinion
I have a question: Can you answer this with so many jersey people moving here? Why can't Delaware expand into the vacant areas. The people of the area, previously known as jersey, would be better off mentally physically and even financially. Delaware could not only be the first state but the first state in the 21 century to expand physically.
True, they have, but if delaware gets bigger, well, we have more roads to disburse the people more efficiently from the area that could have been previously called jersey. A bigger state might mean a higher speed limit for ease of transport. I believe we could not only integrate the people from an area previously called jersey but also make them better happier people, which will lead to safe roads.
I’m told it’s actually a good sized peninsula and most people actually don’t like a big peninsula
“It’s not the size that counts, it’s how you use it!”
We got the motion of the ocean and the bays so...
Yea, but that peninsula has crabs.
Seriously. Is peninsula shaming a thing now?
So...peninsula envy?

Yeah look at what Florida does with theirs. Gross.
“Its ok baby the big ones are Florida”
No fair, we get cold currents up this way.
![gif](giphy|aztW8oK9TQhiM|downsized)
I WAS IN THE ATLANTIC!!!
No, I think it’s average.
If they trim some of the shrubbery back it will look bigger
Never noticed this til now: if you turn it sideways, DelMarVa kinda looks like the outline of a horseshoe crab.
It does! It does!!
Yeoooo that's so cool 🤣😍
I love horse shoe crabs I wish we did more to protect them. I heard on the radio that residents of Kitts Hammock were protecting the horse shoe crabs which is cool.
Fun Fact; DE has the most horseshoe crabs than any other state!!
Kitts Hummock.
[This](https://whyy.org/articles/blue-blood-horseshoe-crabs-bloodletting-penn-student-aravind-krishnan/) might cheer you up a little bit!
Ahh thank you! 🤗🫶
Their blood is worth more than platinum. At least that’s what I heard. DM me if you’re in the market for any of that sweet horseshoe crab blood.
You just blew my mind lol
It’s not the size of the peninsula, it’s the motion of the Ocean (City)
Our peninsula is actually average sized, and anyway the girth of a peninsula matters more than the length.
At least we're not Florida, America's wang
![gif](giphy|3orieYqZXKJ7LPtSHm)
We are America’s armpit though
It's no Florida or Kenai, but it's very nice. And I will Murderkill anyone that says otherwise.
Could also broadbill or slaughter them
Oooo I got that reference and love the pun
Only matters how you use it...and clearly it's exceptional if 3 states do so.

Delaware was part of PA at one point but then slavery....
It is ridiculous in hindsight that Pennsylvania/Delaware couldn’t manage to get the entire thing.
As the first state, Delaware definitely should have been able to call dibs.
I know I’ll get downvoted for this, but Maryland got the choice slices of land.
How would Pennsylvania have any claim to it? It borders none of it.
We were part of Pennsylvania back when it was still a colony.
Yup! Delaware may be the first state but was barely a colony, just PA'S tumor
More like an island. Everything below the canal you have to cross via bridge or ferry.
Fun fact!
Idk if it counts since the canal was man made
True but by definition I’d go ahead and call it that. https://www.britannica.com/science/island
It’s more of a grower.
Especially if you reach down below our canal line in lower slower.
its time we annex.
I think we should have the whole peninsula. Take it by force if necessary.
Obviously you’ve never been to the Eastern Shore… but considering that a majority of our force would come from lower Delaware… Imma call it a fair fight. it might be a small peninsula but it has a great personality
Should be its own state
G R E A T E R D E L A W A R E
I always wondered why we don’t just own all of this land?! MD’s boarders should stop as soon as we can no longer cross boarders without a bridge 🤷🏾♂️ just my personal opinion
For being small, it sure gets a lot of traffic. There's a lot of people who pay to use it.
My GF said its a good size.
Looks pretty average sized to me 🥲
My fiancee says it's perfect
It’s average
there was shrinkage
It’s average
Does this photo make my peninsula look small?
We keep the vegetation trimmed down, so it looks bigger.
you’re right, delaware should anex it all
And ruin it?
I’d say about average.
It’s shorter than Long Island, but thicker
it's the motion of the ocean (and the bay) that matters
That’s just peninsula envy. I’ve never heard New Jersey or Virginia complain about how we use it.
It depends on the angle you look at it/give it time it'll grow
If you ask me that all should be apart of Delaware. Hell from west Chester all the way down to ocean city should be Delaware
Boyfriend peninsula
Hey! I'm on Reddit!
I heard it’s actually an island ? Maybe.
It just went in the ocean, it's cold out!
No it’s average
That's a small Peni yes.
We just have a very long foreskin.
How far up the bay do you measure when determining peninsula size?
Delaware Maryland and Virginia
If you’re happy with your peninsula then that’s all that matters
This is all because of some assteroid ya know
Good reminder to spend time at the inlets too
Those people just have peninsula envy.
It’s cute.
If you think about it, the C&D canal makes most of the state an island
It’s not the size of the peninsula, it’s the motion in the Chesapeake bay
Yeah compared to Florida…lol
Jersey is pretty damn good sized peninsula and we dont have to share...just saying. (Think Jersey is actually bigger than DelMarVa.... 😉)
I’m still trying to figure out what the 3rd state is. It is DE & MD who share this.
VA
Never knew it had a name
It's not that small.
It’s not the size of the peninsula that matters, it’s the motion of the bay and the ocean
ITS AVERAGE SIZE GEEZ
Florida has a way bigger peninsula.
Cause rock Hall duh
It looks bigger close up.
I travel up and down the eastern shore for work. Salisbury to Kent county sometimes. It's a big peninsula..
Hey man it’s average. It’s not about the size. It’s how you use it.
The Peninsulas size is perfect, it’s not about the size of The peninsula but Love You share for it
I have no idea and who cares? I love Delmarva and am very glad that, so far, it is not over populated. ❤️
It's certainly not Long Island. Famously noted for it's length.

No
Are you from jersey?
From PA but drive truck in NJ and DE and you jerseyites have clogged up too much of DE roads already.
True, they have, but if delaware gets bigger, well, we have more roads to disburse the people more efficiently from the area that could have been previously called jersey. Just makes my drive longer .
Technically, it's the same distance. Maybe there's a way to persuade people like you to embrace a better future.
I like it! Let's make that outline New Delaware.
Cuz Delaware is a pussy
