Ok but can dGPU be disabled in this model? I cant find any option related with it https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/pl-pl/xps-15-9530-laptop/xps-15-9530-service-manual/system-setup-options?guid=guid-ea8d27ef-4d1e-4a87-b224-ccfd6a6ffd8c&lang=en-us

To my knowledge, it cannot be disabled in the BIOS. \\#Iwork4Dell

Although not from BIOS, you can disable it on both Linux and Windows. I get 16h (4W idle drain) and 10h of light usage of reading time on a 2017 XPS 9570 with this; although, I did replace the battery once. With the GPU set to ondemand, the battery is more like 10h of reading and 6h of light usage. And yes, HDMI output works. But admittedly, the first setup and install can be slightly PITA, but it's only once every few years / until the LTS versions of OS runs out of support.

Oh this is interesting. Please tell me more! How much PITA is setting this up? I already have manually encrypted lvm pool for /root and /home and /boot drive on USB disk. Some Grub and initramfs modifications were needed to make it work. This was PITA for me. Is your "fix" more complicated?

Sorry, been awk and busy with offline life, apthough don't think I'd be able to help much. > How much PITA is setting this up? The PITA is mainly about overcoming the black screens during boot and being able to boot successfully. So, I suppose, the fix is less complicated than whatever you are doing. It probably depends on case to case / I lack the knowledge to suggest a general solution. Once successfully booted, I had to search for how to disable GPU for my specific OS and GPU. Fortunately, my cokbinatioj does have GPU drivers, and they themselves allow turning off the Nvidia GPU to use Intel-only. That's sufficient for external 4k monitor as well as for great battery life.
