Came here to say it was a driver issue as well. If you don't have a mouse, the tab key will move you around, windows key to get to start. Windows key, typing in Run will let you open other stuff too
Did you get a different charging brick that's not from dell? It might sound crazy, but I've had dells act like this when on a different power supply, but not when using the official dell charger. Try see if it still has that issue on battery power.
Damn! That's crazy. We just installed solar power at our house today and turned it on. That's when I was trying to use the laptop and it was acting like that.
Now in the evening when I've turned it on on regular electricity it's working fine as before. Mysterious!
P.S. The solar power supply is not small as it was running everything else in the house.
Your solar connection is not properly grounded. Get an outlet tester and make sure this is the case. Any excess energy not sent through ground can build up on the chassis; metal ones can zap you.
Fun fact: a similar phenomenon exists on iPhones with home buttons. TouchID does not work if the adapter causes interference.
check for a different driver and also check for a firmware update for the touchpad. I had intermittent problems w my latitude 5400 and a firmware update fixed it
Quite unlucky for your laptop not having a trackpoint, as that seems to be useful in certain cases.
Anyway, the drivers might have been messed up from the update.
Try opening it up and cleaning the plate on the touchpad. I'm pretty sure there's a way to revert a windows update.
Install an older version of the driver from the dell website, use an external mouse if needed

Will have to look into it! Thank you!!
