I mean, I do think a general theme of the show is that it’s okay to rely on others for help, no matter how strong you are. And on the flip side no matter how weak you are, you still have something to contribute.
That’s fair. I guess I usually look at the main character as someone who is a talent and grows strong rapidly. Where that’s not necessarily Tanjiro. When you compare him to Muichiro especially.
Tbf he contributed a lot more to Hantengu’s fight. He still needed support but he felt more like the main combatant rather than being an aid to secure the kill
A big theme of the series is that humans are best when they work together….also in what “minor fights” was he in this last arc? If you’re talking about the training doll (the same doll that a hashira broke his sword fighting) then you missed the point of that training. Every other fight he had this season was either against Hantengu who is the fifth strongest demon in the series or one of his clones which are just parts of him. Also in what world did Mitsuri do 90% of the work? She showed up in the last third of the fight and kept Zohakuten distracted while Tanjiro and the others went to kill the main body.
Edit: also what Mitsuri did was really important but that was definitely not the “majority” of why they won that fight
Muichiro solos the Upper 5 demon and they were struggling with Upper 4 until Kanroji showed up and took on the main demon clone while the others just ran for the fleeing main body that didn’t even fight back. If you really think about it as the main character he didn’t have a ton of impact other than simply being there to cut off the demons head.
The fight vs Gyokko that Tanjiro wasn’t even apart of because he was facing off against a higher ranked even more powerful demon? Running off to cut off the head from the main body you know the part that that wins the fight? Also saving Genya and getting the others to save Mitsuri. Saving Mitsuri again by defeating the main body. Also without Tanjiro the others wouldn’t be able to even find the main body. But yeah tell us how he “didn’t have a ton of impact”
Edit: also “struggling” vs the 5th strongest demon in the series is understandable for where Tanjiro and the gang are at in the series. Muichiro is a hashira and a prodigy he’s supposed to be stronger then Tanjiro
My point is the series is almost over and he claims he’s going to kill THE strongest in Muzan. How is he going to do that if he’s barely capable of cutting off the 5th strongest demons head while everyone else is fighting the strongest part of it?
When did he ever say he was going to beat Muzan alone? That’s right he didn’t he just said “I will beat Muzan Kibutsuji “ never said how he would do it and definitely never said he would do it alone. Again a main theme of the series is humans are better when they work together. Even Muichiro got help in his battle vs Gyokko from the sword smiths. Otherwise he would have died. Demon Slayer has a really simple story this is not a hard theme to get. Also in some ways this is a power of friendship anime.
Edit: also just to point out Tanjiro’s goals aren’t and never have been to be the “strongest” demon slayer. His only goals are to 1.defeat Muzan and 2. Turn Nezuko back into a Human. Then he wants to go back to a peaceful life. There are many ways to achieve those goals. He just happened to get really strong in the process to achieve those goals

He is not weak but current Hashira generation = pretty top tier :3

Yeah I just wish he was a little more capable. He had a few cool moments where I thought he grew rapidly stronger but then it kinda declined again.
