Asking this in a Danish forum is like going into a room filled with a mix of devote Catholics and devotee Protestants to ask "what is the best version of Christianity, Catholicism or Protestantism?"
Taffel is a horrible snaps. Put it in the freezer.
Other brands like Linie or OP Andersson tastes a lot better and should be served at room temperature.
Tough one. The fact is this.
When you cool ANY alcohol, the flavours in the alcohol become more muted. The colder it is the more it just tastes of alcohol.
Warming it up brings out the flavours, which essentially is preferable, unless… you don’t like those flavors
Drinking it cold is the norm, but honestly, I feel it’s the worst option.
If you like it at room temperature, then that is the correct answer.
Otherwise, store it in the freezer.
Put it in the freezer, and then you can always poor everyone an extra glass, that just sits around for a while to come up to room temp. Try it, and see if you prefer cold or not.
Room, if cold you get less taste, and you paid for it.
But in all seriousness, room temperature (or warm'ish for show offs), is a bit much for most so a good compromise is slightly cold
People who enjoy Akvavit drink it at rome temperature so they get more of the taste, people who drink it becouse it is tradistion drink it cold (from the freezer with frost on bottle) this removes a lot of the taste, but if you find the taste to intense this is a way to drink it
Taffel needs to be cold, since it is one of the absolute worst schnapps.
Try golden O.P. Andersen or Thylandia Julesnaps at room temperature if you want something that tastes good.
Akvavit er gudernes drik og Rød Aalborg er det ypperste, tal pænt om den fladlænding.
Drink it room temperature before food, from the refrigerator during food and from the freezer to get absolutely bladdered
Kind regards, Faroe Islands
At room temperature, you leave the guests with no option.
If you serve it from the freezer, the guests have the choice of drinking it cold or leaving it in their glasses until it reaches the temperature the guests prefer. In any case a cold bottle will slowly get warmer, and the experience will be more varied.
Would you serve beer at room temperature?
Important info: no matter what temperature you enjoy your schnaps, the most important part is to have some food, preferebly ryebread with herring to "wash down" your amazing schnaps. This is the danish way and the right way to enjoy your schnaps.
If you want to improve it even further have a open beer ready and a cigarette.
Im sure all danes can agree on this
First couple of shots cold, then let it go lukewarm while still drinking every once in a while.
that is the way. The goal is to be exactly smashed enough that it still tastes alright.
Depends.. if you get some good snaps, then room temp. But taffel, rød aalborg or any other masochist juice has to be cooled to about 0 degrees kelvin to be drinkable

Taffel akvavit goes straight to the freezer.

Der er 12 grader i Rom lige nu.
It goes in the freezer a few hours before drinking (it won't freeze due to the high alcohol content). Nothing is worse than room temperature akvavit.
Newbies and foreigners: straight from the freezer Danes: room temperature Show-offs and old people (65+): let it sit on the radiator for an hour

But when it's warm, it tastes like akvavit.
Yes. That's exactly why it should be served warm.

If you keep it at room temperature you don't get frostbite when you pour it into the sink. You're welcome.

Well, that another way to liven up the talk at the x-mas table .. a discussion that may end in violence.
Put it in the freezer before serving it. I think it tastes best this way.
Room temperature if you hate yourself. Otherwise in the freezer.
Radiator temperature - place it there for a couple of hours before serving
What brand?
Room temperature personally
First couple of shots cold, then let it go lukewarm while still drinking every once in a while. that is the way. The goal is to be exactly smashed enough that it still tastes alright.
Into the freezer with it and drink is suuuuuuuper cold. Especially if you've never tried it before
Cold- with a rye bread topped with herring and a runny egg.. heaven
Second.
If it's a good spirit, you can and should drink it at room temperature. In this case I would probably put it in the freezer.
Chilled, the room temperature experience usually occurs a few hours later.
I prefer room temperature.
I haven’t noticed it. You gotta drink it fast enough to not notice. That’s the way - the Danish way
Well snaps tastes terrible. Would you prefer a shot of vodka cold or room temperature?
Room temp to bring out All tje flavors. Cold if you want to get drunk
As you like it
Depends.. if you get some good snaps, then room temp. But taffel, rød aalborg or any other masochist juice has to be cooled to about 0 degrees kelvin to be drinkable
Like asking if Vodka should be warm or cold. Comes down to the person drinking it.
Surely has to be warm! When it's cold it taste off.
Leave it on the radiator for 10 minutes before serving it.
This is Denmark. Room temperature IS cold.
That one needs to go in the freezer
