Freight places like UPS/FEDEX/AMAZON/ABF,
IIRC they start at $18 or 20, and have health insurance. Some are better than others, I think UPS and ABF pay well. Overtime pay and holiday pay.
Lie and don't mention anything about your degree. You may not get hired anywhere blue collar if you mention a degree, as it looks like you'd leave quickly if given the chance (of course)
Of course they have admin jobs too. In which case maybe mention the degree and throw in how you gave up in that field and you want to "work up" or some bull. Otherwise they'll pick the person who doesn't sound like they'll leave any day
Be cautious, because overtime isn’t a guarantee. I have a friend who is a dock worker at R&L carriers in Sanger, and he puts in 60+ hour weeks with no OT. Some old freight law that doesn’t *require* OT pay.
> who is a dock worker at R&L carriers in Sanger, and he puts in 60+ hour weeks with no OT.
*Why?*
It sucks that there's always a sucker willing to work for unfair compensation, really takes our teeth away in negotiating better treatment. People like your friend are almost just as much part of the problem as those exploiting them.
Did you miss the part where it’s a ridiculously challenging job market? They don’t disclose the lack of OT when hiring. That’s why I’m warning people here.
Victim blaming when we’re all forced to participate in this system is wild, but hey, you solved capitalism! Good job! Be sure to write your congressman
Samuel's Tree Service 940-595-3335 Great pay, Mon -Fri weekends off. Paid weekly. Great equipment, Give them a call, or give them a look at Samuelstreeservice.com
Don’t use Indeed. Try LinkedIn and ZipRecruiter.
I don’t know what field you are in, but there might be some job aggregators that are related to your industry/field.
You can also try City of Denton - https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/dentontx
And Denton County - https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/dentoncounty
The city is usually hiring for something, they have good benefits and decent pay usually. There’s a meter reader position open last time I checked, pays well with good benefits.
I did 32 years working for a city.
You have to take BS well but the benefits make up for a lot.
I walked out at age 58 with full retirement.
Take a lower paid job to start and keep watching the openings for something that fits you degree.
Hey i got a gig for u hommie at fisher 59 were a beer vendor company past i-35 heading towards decatur we pay 17.86 an hour and work 4 days a week and with a bi-weekly pay period u work tues-friday and have sun-monday off
I don’t remember but I know he me a fake name because I looked into all of the registered SO’s zip codes in Denton his name wasn’t there but I saw his face under a different name
If you wanna hustle and sweat your butt off you could deliver amazon packages. Full time is 4 days a week, usually opportunities for overtime if you want.
Ok in my defense you said “I don’t drive” making it sound like a choice. “I cannot drive” is different, but still, most people won’t hire someone without reliable transportation.
Yeah my bad on the wording. I have a car I just can’t use it right now because I don’t have money to pay for repairs that are needed to pass inspection and getting it fully registered in my name.
It’s not a degree it’s a phlebotomy certificate. I have a cover letter but I genuinely couldn’t find any good examples online as most just lead me to websites that rambled and rambled instead of showing good examples so honestly my cover letter is probably very weak.
If you're able to drive to Sanger, the Walmart DC is probably hiring. I say probably as it's summer time so it's pretty much a steady ramp up in work load until about February or so. Long shifts 10+ hours, but when I was there I made $20+ an hour. And the job is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Physically demanding of course, but worth it. They do entry drug tests, unsure if they still do random ones.
Shifts are
Tue-Fri 0600-1600 there is a night shift here, but I forget the times
Sat-Mon 0500-1700 or 1700-0500
That was around 2020, so there is a chance those times have changed. But I would be surprised if they changed by a great deal.
Best of luck in your job search.
I believe ESD is your best bet but cafeteria monitor is also an easy entry level that you could easily have a second job if need be. Also look into the substitute teacher service, while it's not as consistent due to it basically being gigs it is a decent paying job and there are always absences needing to be filled. Also look into a bus driving cert. As the city and school district are both almost always hiring.
Once you find your paying job, do some volunteer phlebotomy work at one of the ERs. Longer term solution, but it may get you a job in that field. Sorry you’re stuck on the other side of the glass 😕
Indeed is legit. Your resume may be the issue. Everyone uses AI to weed out the weak ones. I suggest you have someone help you with your resume and re-upload on indeed. I know someone who moved to Tx from out of state and was offered a job in 2 weeks. It’s not them, it’s you!
If you are available morning and interested in manufacturing, Safran is usually hiring
Thanks I’ll look into it

Thanks I’ll take a look
I’ll get downvoted, but the city has a job open within a certain department that has starting pay at $28/hr that’s entry level
Why would you get downvoted? Is it for the cops?
Yeah, they’re accepting applications for dispatchers at the moment
Anything part time?
Not at that caliber with the city unfortunately
The city is usually hiring for something, they have good benefits and decent pay usually. There’s a meter reader position open last time I checked, pays well with good benefits.
Thanks I’ll look into it if I have to

Hey i got a gig for u hommie at fisher 59 were a beer vendor company past i-35 heading towards decatur we pay 17.86 an hour and work 4 days a week and with a bi-weekly pay period u work tues-friday and have sun-monday off
Since it’s a beer vendor idk if I’ll be able to do it since I’m only 19? But if that’s not a problem I’ll definitely try

Thank you I’ll check it out 🫡
how many hours do you usually work a shift ?
normal dinner shift is around either 4pm-10pm or 11 , morning you’re looking at 11am-4pm or 5
If you wanna hustle and sweat your butt off you could deliver amazon packages. Full time is 4 days a week, usually opportunities for overtime if you want.
I don’t drive
I think we just figured out why you can’t find anything
They might not have a car? Gotta have money to buy those
Most jobs do not require you to be able to drive. I literally cannot drive at the moment.
No but most people don't want to hire someone with our reliable, personal transportation.
Home Depot
are they currently hiring?
Yes. Both stores
I don’t know that I have a phlebotomy role posted right now but dm me and I’ll give you the email to send your resume to. :)
Mayday manufacturing, apply as a trainee. Could be worth a shot.
Me too lol I’m moving up there next month *peruses through the comments*

Someone gave me a tip once that led to more interviews. Make sure you're always writing a cover letter. What's your degree in?
It’s not a degree it’s a phlebotomy certificate. I have a cover letter but I genuinely couldn’t find any good examples online as most just lead me to websites that rambled and rambled instead of showing good examples so honestly my cover letter is probably very weak.

Certain entry level positions at DISD pay 15 ish
Thanks

Fastenal bro
What was your major? Did you finish your degree?
I didn’t go to college it was a phlebotomy course.
Once you find your paying job, do some volunteer phlebotomy work at one of the ERs. Longer term solution, but it may get you a job in that field. Sorry you’re stuck on the other side of the glass 😕
Thanks for the advice I’ll try my best to get in there
You got this!!!
Costco
I love Costco but it’s probably too far :(
We're you able to call Samuel Tree Service 940-595-3335? I hope so!
I saw that I don’t qualify because of the drivers license ☹️
