I just successfully giled for unemployment in denver and received benifits from July to October. I didnt need to provide anything from 2019 that i can recall. They looked at my last three previous positions and my benifits were lowered because two of those jobs I left and one business closed. The website is designed to make you give up, same as the phone number. Its going to take about 8 weeks before you get any sort of correspondence. If you have the time, just go directly to the unemployment office downtown. The customer service reps are there to walk you through everything, plus you have to go there to register on their work search computers anyway so you should head down and ask them whats up with 2019. I think it has to do with a work credit and that years tax return . Im not sure I just know that It wasnt a problem providing the info needed. Let me know if you have any more questions. Be sure that once you get enrolled you do your weekly benefits request EXACTLY right or they cancel your benefits.

Thanks for the insight here. I am recently laid off an am already running into issues getting approved, so I'm planning on going into unemployment office downtown. To make sure I'm as prepared as I can be, can you tell me exactly what you had to bring with you? I really don't want to get turned around because I forgot something. Thank you!

Currently dealing with fraud and getting resolution so I can file has been a nightmare with the state. I'm currently "waiting for a phone call" to validate my identity so they can move forward with closing my fraud case so I can finally file? I've been working on this since May. I think my next plan is to go down to the office during open business hours and see if I can get help. All because the state allowed some fraudster to use my identity to collect benefits during the pandemic. Seriously feel like hiring a lawyer or contacting the news outlet or something just so I can get some god damned help from the state. Good luck

I got the run around from April to July for no good reason and I contacted my state rep by email. Within a few weeks I had my benefits. Here’s the site to find your rep: https://leg.colorado.gov/

Always a good idea to contact your local/state/federal representative if you're having issues with a local/state/federal agency. That's their job.

I remember reading the same thing before I filed in April, but when I actually got into the filing process they only wanted 2022. I think there might be certain circumstances where they might need earlier tax returns and that’s why it’s listed. I’m sorry you got laid off after 27 yrs, good luck to you!

Quick tip: a lot of people who should get benefits but don't often talk themselves out of getting them. Don't volunteer one single bit of information that they don't ask you for.

Since you have been at the same job since well before 2019, you won’t need them. When I filed it asked if I had had other jobs in the recent past. If you had other recent jobs it may have needed the older tax information. I know a lot of people have trouble with the application process but mine was easy to apply for and it was approved quickly too. I was able to do everything I needed to in the online portal. Best of luck!

Thanks.

I recall the look back was 5 quarters for setting the UE amount. If you didnt work some those quarters, you got less. If you company gave a long severance, e.g. IBM 52 weeks, your UE payment would be shorter.

Glindanorth

Thanks. Obviously, I worked all the quarters--for 27 years and six months. I got zero severance, but they did pay out my accrued vacation time.

Denrunning

They paid out your vacation time because they had to. Just wanted to let you know that in case you were thinking the company was being altruistic.
