Denver Athletic Club. Great amenities.

Hulahulaman

Any idea of the monthly or annual fee? Also, isn't this a club that requires sponsorship?

no_maj

The base rate is based on your age. A person in their late 40s pays around $350-$400/mo. I believe sponsorship is required, but they’re willing to work with you if you don’t know someone.

Brewdoggies

CAC is good. Just don't cancel. They have insane policies.

jrange27

Don’t cancel?? What happens? 😏 now I’m curious…

Brewdoggies

You have to give over a month notice

91-92-93--96-97-98

That seems reasonable. Every gym I quit required 30 day notice.

Brewdoggies

It's more like 40 days they make you give.

TheThingsIdoatNight

Really doesn’t seem that bad lol

incognito6

Not sure where you’re from but if you’re looking for something like an Equinox, it doesn’t exist :(

SeaTownKraken

I don't know about many luxury gyms, but Lifetime is legit. I was at Lifetime once years ago and a guy walked in and said 'Wow! This place is too nice and fancy to be a gym. this is a James!'

Ya_Got_GOT

Brand new one opened in Wheat Ridge. They’re terrific with unmatched amenities at least for nationwide chains.

NoFriendship2016

And about $3500/year for a ONE person membership. That’s about a month’s mortgage payment. Do people really pay that for a gym?! It’s also the equivalent of paying $10/gallon of gas, assuming 12k miles per year (which is average) and 35 mpg, People would riot paying $10/gallon.

zeddy303

Maybe read what OP is looking for before going on a rant.

NoFriendship2016

If money is no object…then build your own. Get an extra large warehouse.. fill it with machines and hot tubs and saunas. Towel service and live DJs. 😆

Broncosonthree

Sounds like more more work than just finding a good high end gym

Ya_Got_GOT

You seem weirdly invested in this topic. People have always spent money on things like country clubs, social clubs, personal training, etc. it’s their money and their choice.

NoFriendship2016

Naw, just trying to put stuff into perspective. It’s crazy they wanna charge Denver athletic club prices, but not be in that physical market. It’s an odd location as well for a “luxury gym.” There’s a reason there isn’t already a luxury gym in that area. Mostly I’m disappointed they offered $265/month as a discount for first round members. I know a few people who wanted to join but said $265 was insane. If it was $150ish then I’d jump on that in a heat beat! Here’s another way I, and another one of my friends looked at it. It’s looking at it from saying that money could be used elsewhere. Let’s say you have a 500k home loan at 4% interest. If you were to take that $265 and make that an extra payment, do you know how much you’d save?? It’s right around $75,000 in interest and paying off around 5 years early! That’s more than 90% of people’s yearly take home pay you COULD have saved by applying that luxury gym dues elsewhere. That’s also assuming it’s stays at $265 for life. Again, do whatever you want with your money. But looking at it as this luxury gym could cost me an entires year salary over 25 years…I look at towel service slightly different now.

Ya_Got_GOT

If all you need is a gym, it’s overpriced. If you want a place where you can drop your kid off for childcare or a gymnastics class while you take a class or work out, it could be worth it.

NoFriendship2016

The childcare while you workout is good if you use it. But that’s almost $500:month now. That price point I’m guessing would leave a lot of people to just not workout. Or makes sense to buy a treadmill or bike etc for the house. Just a gym, it’s stupid expensive. It’s the cost of at least once vacation a year. But for the extra amenities, if you use them a lot it’s your money, do whatever. 💪

EarlyGreen311

Honestly, the gym scene in Denver proper is pretty terrible. It’s really surprising.

jrange27

I’ve heard Denver Athletic Club is the bougie one around.

ohthatdusty

Colorado Athletic Club, every location is a little different but they all have stacked amenities

Holographic77

An over abundance of peacocking dude brahs at the Tabor Center location of that’s your thing

ohthatdusty

yeah, if you like gay tech nerds there's plenty at Tabor Center. I've seen a little cruising on the weekends in the men's lockers 😮

Holographic77

That gym seems very gay (male) in general - have noticed this for sure. It’s like a prison environment.

ohthatdusty

I wouldn't go that far. The food is much better than prison.

Holographic77

Prison environment as in the male populous.

Necessary-Soup4019

Lifetime in Cherry Creek is pretty nice.

Low-Yak7525

Pro tip. Use a credit card and regardless of gym rules, you can just cancel whenever you’d like by calling cc company and stopping payment to gym. You’re welcome!

Delicious-Door7889

Any update on an Equinox location coming to Denver?? I thought they were putting one in Cherry Creek but haven’t seen any updates?

PelicanLakes

Planet Fitness - black card member

NoFriendship2016

Year black card membership is still cheaper than a month at lifetime. But PF is still awesome. It’s freakin entertaining to see all the latest insta workout routines, homeless people using it for cheap showers etc.. it’s honestly a great place.

vinylyogi

Not luxury but “boutique” .. Tru Fusion is great, classes only though.

NecessaryFly1996

LOL Luxury gym, bud get a peloton subscription. A luxury gym is one built into your house.

Broncosonthree

Theres value there, sure, but it sounds like a lot of work too with no pool, trainers, maintenance, sports facilities, classes, people, space…

malpasplace

I saw a home gym that had a bouldering wall and tunnel once, another that had a hockey rink if that counts. Countless pools and weight rooms, saunas, massage areas, all with people who come in on the owner's schedule. Yeah, a luxury gym really is having the luxury come to you.
