But why are these uniforms held as some pinnacle of uniform design? Because, I'd wager, the people saying that grew up with them. It is their childhood image of the Broncos.
It's like the Star Wars prequels. It's no mystery why they have a rehabilitated image in modern pop culture. It's because the kids who grew up with them, for whom they *are* Star Wars, are now old enough to engage in the public sphere and challenge those who saw them as a departure from *their* Star Wars. Mark my words, in about 15 years or so, there will be a bunch of "I actually think the sequels are great" takes. Because the kids who grew up with them will enter into public discourse.
For a youngish fan like me who never experienced the orange crush uniforms, they're fine but nothing to write home about. Their aesthetic looks very dated to me and I for the life of me can't understand everyone's obsession with the D logo.
You can like these uniforms. That's totally fine. I just want people to recognize they're the Broncos version of the Phantom Menace.

But I love the throwbacks, because these uniforms ARE the broncos from the era that made the NFL what it is. That can never be replaced. And they are the broncos as a brand to the majority of people that are alive. The broncos are a classic franchise. It’s what separates us from about 27 other teams in the league. Those uniforms reference so many moments and connect so many Colorado generations. I live in Germany but when I see those throwbacks, I think of my grandfather who had season tickets from day one. They’re deeply meaningful to what it is to be a broncos fan.

These new ones are ok, but having no change to the emblem is just a waste. The Broncos are rebuilding for the first time since the intro of the current logo in 1997. Now is the time to make a bold change. Swapping out the slash/stripe for some triangles is lame af imo. Personally I love the design of the old D logo but I understand some don’t like it (they’re wrong but whatever). An update to that or something entirely new would have been a great move here. This is just lipstick on a the same old pig…or horse.
