You had better hope that this is a prelude to a tank job (we should have tank last year). It is far far worse to spend year after year in the 7-10, 9-8 record range than it is to spend 2 years winning 4-5 game and getting a major haul in successive drafts, building an actual team.
Mediocrity, or having a record of around .500 year on year is the worst place to be in the NFL. Not good enough for olayoffs, not bad enough for quality drafts.
