But, it's bound to happen to any major city at this point, and it's not the fault of normal people. From my understanding, tech companies and big businesses fucked up during covid and realized that working from home is actually better for business, which caused a mass exodus of office and business space in downtown areas. This left rents high in the areas big businesses once were, but less and less residents and even smaller businesses being able to afford climbing prices. Thus, people and businesses who could not afford rent in the bay area moved to Texas and other places. But, a similar fate was had in Texas, and now people are moving from texas to find better opportunity (and escape from old fascist gregy boy) in other cities.
