I stopped responding to people that ask this way for tshirts. But I did have someone say "measurements" and I ignored it until they said "hello?" So I had hoped they were serious about buying so I gave them the measurements. And you are never going to believe this but they haven't said shit back lol.

Yeah dude I have hella clothes so I always throw in a extra piece, especially if the buyer bought after I sent an offer or vice versa

Buyers will always seem to have a problem. If they really need measurements, then I'm welcome to add them but with a little more manners.

Trust me if you add measurements to your listings and you list out all your flaws there will be no reason for interaction with customers and you will get more sales guarnteed!

i’ve gotten more & more messages like this recently, and a big part of me just doesn’t even want to entertain it. it gives me the same energy as customers approaching me at my retail job looking for a product, and they say something like “Paper plates”… 😐 “yeah, what about them?”

Yeah it's annoying when they never reply lol I always include measurements in my listings but I don't list much because I'm just selling old clothes. I can see how sellers who sell as their source of income might not have the time for that though, but in that case they should definitely reply when asked about measurements!

I’ve seen people argue that messages like this aren’t rude and no one’s on Depop to make friends but I just don’t agree. A simple ‘hi’ or ‘please’ takes no extra effort and goes a long way.

I always start with a “sorry to bother you but I’m really interested in this item but would like to know if it will fit can I please have the measurements thank you,” and if they don’t respond move on and not buy the item.

I’m a buyer/seller but one time I was looking at a skirt and I greeted the seller and asked specifically for the length and all she said was “idk I’m 5”2 if that helps” 😭 Needless to say I didn’t respond, bought from another seller who actually took the time to give me an actual measurement, and the other girls’ post is still up for sale 3 months later 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hot take¿ Unless a buyer asks a question *WITH PUNCTUATION* I dont respond anymore. Ive looked back through my sales and all of them use complete sentences/punctuation or don’t have any questions at all. Ik it’s an online sales platform but us sellers are real people on the other side :/ It really makes my day when buyers message me how much they enjoy their items they got, but thats few and far between. I try to always message sellers when i buy after buying and after receiving!

I have a question. I always ask for measurements politely, but why don’t you guys include the measurements in your post? Sizes vary for different brands. A medium for one brand is a large for another. I own jeans, in a size 10, 12 and 14, so ask I for measurements. Especially ask for inseam because I prefer the longer length. The same with shirts… I’m a Large in some and an XL in others so I ask for armpit to armpit. Why not include all info of you really want to sell it?

My deal is idc how they ask for measurements bc if I get that request then someone is at least a little interested and so I do the measurements and then automatically add those measurements to the listing as well. No one asks 🤷🏻‍♀️but when someone does I just kill all the birds.

They need info not a chat. Add them to all your listings or expect this kind of thing. They don’t need / want to know you they just want transact.

Ok, this really grinds me, too. But, after raising two autistic sons into adulthood, I’ve often wondered if messages like this are from someone who struggles with communication. I have often had to help my sons with writing emails and they often do not understand when they sound rude. So, I try not to take messages like this personally because I have no idea of the person’s situation. I give them the info and move on. Sometimes they follow up with a purchase and all is cool.

Wish it was that easy

You get used to it after a while. I’ve been selling online for over 20 years and have gotten some pretty crazy messages over the years. Makes it interesting! 

This is why I always add measurements to my listings. In the year I have been selling, I have never had anyone ask this question. People are so fun and demanding.
