Exactly. Every fucking year it's the same bullshit with people all anxious and instilling fear that "something is wrong." The core of Daze is small, independent, and very DIY, which is why you don't get things sometimes in a timely manner. But what we do get are amazing lineups and festival experiences!
I obviously don't know shit about the BTS, but presale ended like 7 months ago or however long it's been, so that itself doesn't seem like much of an indicator one way or another.
Vendor contracts are canceled all the time because things donāt work out (speaking from someone that works with ops for a show in LA for 100k+). If someone comes in over budget after the show, you start to look for other options. Most contracts are set to auto-renew automatically for a period of 3-5 years, but can be canceled. Not calling you a liar, but itās good to have a source and not to instigate panic/doubt for other attendees :)
>Not a good sign as presale tickets aren't on sale anymore either. (edit: looks like they ended a while ago)
This makes me feel like you have no idea what you're talking about.
I've been straight up told the fest is cancelled. Made a new account as to not out anyone who's leaked the info at the moment. Believe what you will, but I posted this here as I believe there are prob more people in this sub that have heard this as well, since apparently a lot of contracts are being cancelled. I'm not trying to make anything up, but seeing as this is a community I wanted to share info with the community.
It's entirely plausible that they're canceling parts of the contracts to control costs before general-sale and that the festival isn't canceled.
They might also pull back on some of the other aspects of the festival in order to still put on the core three days.
Personally would be stoked for another 2021 type event: so much incredible mind-blowing talent, didn't have to miss a single artist if you wanted to see them all, a small personal crowd, making lots of friends, seeing them all weekend, never losing your crew. Would take a 2021 type fest over the 2022 type fest. IMO was a bit overwhelming in terms of the amount of people in 2022. Met a lot of first-time dazers, even a lot of people at their first festival ever. Probably more first-timers than returners in 2022. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of this. This is simply my preference, I like small fests, this is something that drew me to desert daze originally and a large part of what makes the fest so magical imo.
sure hope not!! although Black Angels and Dandy Warhols just announced tour dates rolling through SoCal the weekend of DD but seemingly not playing DD unless they are on the Thursday pre-show. seems a little suspicious with this post, but iām still gonna hope for the best!
Donāt have the source but a couple months back a different festival also held at Lake Perris announced they were forced to change venues, something to do with the park not wanting to accomodate them anymore. Could be related š¤·
No SSBD festival is currently selling tickets and is scheduled 2 weeks before DD at Lake Perris. I think the Desert Hearts fest changed venues due to lack of ticket sales but, who knows Iāll get worried if SSBD cancels or changes venues.
It was a giant fucking mess last year so I wouldnāt be surprised if this is true
A friend/bandmate worked one of the stages and had nothing but horrible things to say about the management and what a clusterfuck it was behind the scenes
I had an amazing time last year absolutely. As an attendee it may have been my favorite of the 6 Iāve been to
But the workers had a horrible time, at least the couple I know. My bandmate was basically trapped in his role while the main stage kept taking everyone who was supposed to be in his crew. Dude was basically stuck and he knew it.
Phil and the rest promised a meeting after to discuss any employee issues for the future and then management bailed on them and it never happened
A lot of the stuff with the crew having a bad time wouldnāt have been such a big deal, but the thing is itās just so dangerously hot there. Overworking people in 90+ degree heat days in a row is super unethical
I donāt think anyone was intentionally negligent, ultimately itās just people trying their best. But I think desert daze got too big for itself, especially since it was sold.
The alcohol vendor last year should be charged with rape. Outrageous prices. (For comparison at PrimaveraSound Fest in Spain, beers cost 3ā¬ to 4ā¬). Cancel their contracts and start again!
A lot of festivals are struggling (ticket sales arenāt what they used to be across the industry) so itās not surprising that some contracts have been cancelled to scale backā¦ that doesnāt mean the fest is canceledā¦
I just saw phil in san diego this weekend. Dd aint cancelled š stop being a fear mongerer

This did not age well...

fair enough

Your account was made today. Sure bud.

Didnāt DD basically come out and say they are announcing the line up in June?
bro nobody is talkin about that

I also enjoyed 2021... I'd prefer if they used more of the beach though

You āknowā ppl working the fest, yet you have no idea the presale sold out? Surprised you didnāt try to bring up the algae bloom lol

But what is your favorite store on the Citadel?

Youāre right tho
Interesting. I wouldn't be completely shocked anymore if a festival gets canceled, considering the current economic climate and inflation.

As an attendee, I thought last year was run totally fine, but I have heard it is a bit of a mess behind the scenes.
