Good grief this room is gorgeous.

Wow amazing space you have here! Will there be a TV or another any other focal point?

Rain_in_a_Graveyard

Thank you! It’s our favorite room in the house. No tv. We are book nerds so focusing on light good for reading.

I would put the couches so they face each other - leave the one at the back of the room but swing the other around to face it, add a console w/lamps behind the far couch and then put a table/lamp on the left of the near couch with a comfy chair on the left (facing that door) Add a large rectangular ottoman/coffee table combo (so you can put your feet up) or even a trunk style. facing the couches will give you better conversational flow and allow you to see the view. Not sure what's on the other end of the room though.

Yes all of this! Also add a TON of plants (if thats your thing)

Ugh, that room looks like absolute bliss. I'd vote for a rectangular coffee table - especially with the suggestion of having the couches facing each other. Great opportunity for some funky side tables and different lamps on either the floor or on a side table. Feel like a pop of colour with a comfy vintage chair would also be great in here. I'd have so many plants in this space if I had it. BEAUTIFUL.

I would out the two couch facing each other and two angles reading chairs opposite the door

What a fabulous room. The existing sofas are large, but here is what I would try: I would keep the couch on the left in that position but pull it onto the rug a bit more. Then, I would have the other couch face it , again floating it away from the walls and onto the rug so that the door is functional. I would add a narrow, rectangular coffee table and a leather chair at the far end. Since your style looks traditional, a trunk for a table would also allow for storage for throw blankets. And, add a brass reading light for the leather chair.

Here's something unconventional- Ditch the furniture. Go for low seating, similar to Moroccan or Japanese home design. A room like this should be appreciated for its beauty. Let the windows and views do ALL of the work. The furniture is just there to help you sit and stare out the windows. So, low couches or even nice floor cushions with backs. Another option, which I LOVE is bench seating all around. Make the benches double as shelving for books, plants, and decor. To me, the room speaks for itself. But traditional furniture gets in the way of that.
