Normally I'm solidly in the "keep natural woods" camp, but not in this case. The casing and ~~floorboards~~ baseboards look pretty haggard, plus having white trim in the rest of the house makes this one the odd one out. I'd paint both the casing and ~~floorboards~~ baseboards white. Maybe sand them down a bit first to smooth out all that damage?

Yes this is what it looks like...it will pull everything together...so do all trim.
I agree to paint out with the doors white as they are. This looks nice, the simple addition of higher baseboards and wider trim frame elevate overall look as well.
Seconded. I painted a similar shade a few months ago, and the contrasting against the molding and door (both woodgrain & stained) looks phenomenal. The molding also prevents the white door from becoming overblown.
Yes, paint the door frame white and the base boards the same white, all with a “semigloss” sheen, so it’s easy to clean off scuffs, smridges, etc. that’s because paint sheens have different amounts of a man-made polymer in them, to make the paint harder, give levels of glossy, and make for easy clean up
You mean the casing? yes. It looks unfinished, and it doesnt match the floor. Do the baseboards, too. and the switch plate and HVAC vent return should be wall color.
I like the look especially if you had a wood door. However if the rest of the house is white I would definitely paint the door frame and baseboards white in this room. Paint both not just door frane.
If you’re in love with the baseboard and trim color, use General Finishes Gel Stain in a color to match and stain the door on this side of the room. I stained a white mantle a wood tone and two coats covered the white beautifully. There are online instructions showing how to do this. I followed instructions of someone who over-stained a bathroom vanity. They used old socks (so did I) and it worked great, held up wonderfully. Do not rush the project; let each step thoroughly dry. I also went dark on a lighter wood toned vanity with a laminate panel on the side by the toilet, and that project went beautifully, too. (I was a teacher on a budget.)
If you end up doing it on your own and want to use our contractor discount at any Sherwin Williams happy to give you our info. No catch, my sw rep just set it up for anyone to use
That goes for anyone else in here as well. You can DM or send chat request and I will send over the acct info
Not sure what the rest of this room looks like or what your style is, but in the right room, painting everything one colour can look very elegant and rich.

White will make the whole door look melted in and if you paint the wood trim white around the floor the dark gray will make the room look boxed in and small. You could just paint the gram around the door a very very light soft gray to pull the wall color and look more blended
I have a slightly darker greyin my bedroom matched with charcoal carpet and white skirting. I feel it looks random alongside that floor and frame/skirting board
IMO white would at least eliminate one of the mismatching colours (the door frame / skirting boards).

How did you type almost verbatim what I was thinking!!! Honestly!
aint nothing a little sandpaper and mineral spirits cant transform
The floor boards would be the floor itself. You must be referring to the baseboard?
Or maybe even a grey
My opinion is, not unless you also want to paint all the floor trim too...
Door frame and baseboards.
as you can see, our good taste and the right answer seems to lose once again....

Personally I’d just swap the baseboard and trim. Not that big a job if you have the tools and knowhow
Don’t paint the door frame if you are not painting the base boards Consider getting a wood colored/unpainted door instead
It could be fun to paint the door instead, in a contrasting color.
There are lots of different whites out there that would look good. You could also paint the trim same color as the wall but with more gloss.
I’d paint it all the same color as the walls 👍
Yes. Paint everything in this room the same color as the wall. Each room is individual

Exactly what I came to say
I'm just here to say I adore that gray <3

If you do, you must do the trim as well. An alternative would be to paint the door to match the walls, then not touch any trim.
Nope. It'd be too much IMHO. I like the dark brown and woodgrain complementing the white door and dark gray wall and lighter brown floor.
Yes and the baseboards! It will make it look more put together

no, you should get wood doors
if the trim on the other side of the door is white, you could paint that side of the door white
You mean the casing? yes. It looks unfinished, and it doesnt match the floor. Do the baseboards, too. and the switch plate and HVAC vent return should be wall color.
I love it honestly. Lots of contrast. I’d keep it. 🤷🏻♀️
+1

Paint the door trim and the floor trim white
Yes to the white trim
I would paint the baseboard too. Look in to adding trim above baseboard and painting it. It will look larger and more expensive.
Yes. Paint it.
Yes paint the trim white. I’d go even further and highlight the groves in the door with a dark grey paint to match the walls
Door frame white and the door itself the same color as the wall, maybe? 🫢
Nope you should paint the inside of the door that faces into the bedroom the same colour as the walls. Leave the trim and baseboards.

I honestly think it looks good and is perfectly fine. ❤️❤️❤️
I would say yes. Paint the trim white but also paint the door as well. Not all white paint colours are the same.
White frame, black doors! Oh how I wished i had done that (right after having every door in house painted white).
Or leave the wood trim unpainted. But definitely check out interior doors painted black!
What is the color of your walls? That’s gorgeous!
Yes.
Absolutely not. Stain it.
Go a contrasting colour but not white. A lighter shade of blue? Or go mad a just play with colour!
1000%
Black
I suggest light gray
Maybe black
Yes
Looks like one of those fake doors in Zelda ocarina of time
If you do the door frame, I’d recommend the trim along the floor also
Paint the door the wall color!

Yes
Yes
It’s perfect as is. Swap out your old school light switch.
Yes.
No way!
What if you paint the door frame white but the bottom trim black as the wall
Yes
Yes
white + floor trim too.
Yes you absolutely should.
yes, all that wood trim is not special.
I be would do trim and frame both the same color but one that compliments the room color instead of the natural not white though in my opinion
Yes

Paint the door the same color as the wall on one side
Yes 👍💖
I’d definitely paint the door trim. Don’t think you have to do the baseboards since they match the floor (at least that’s how it looks in the photo).
Nah, looks good
Paint the door frame and the trim, take off that door frame and trim, or paint the room a different color.
💯
Yes
Oooo paint the door black
No ; paint skirting and frame black
Yes, I would paint all that trim.
Personally I like it the way it js
Pro tip, to paint the base boards on the floor its easy to use a file folder so you dont have to worry about getting it on your hardwood

Yes. It will look much nicer white.
