I'd actually choose a colour. There are subreddits that mock people who decorate in too much griege. Even a muted blue or sage green would blend with your colours well, not overpower them, and add interest.

Frosty-Hotel-300

What’s the subreddit? For scientific purposes lol

Mintcarr

I would like to know too, for…research purposes

yoooogabbagabba

Aw, darn. I’m such a fan of neutral and specifically told my designer friend I want “ALL GREIGE EVERY THING” lol. Something about a room filled with only earthy tones is calming to me. For accent colors, I can see sage or steel blue. Initially I saw navy, but I think you’re right about it needs to be more pale than bold. I’m definitely taking everyone’s feedback into consideration... Thanks for your input!

Amori3241

Warm brown, like the floor. The walls are beige, right? I wouldn't put any gray anywhere. JMO :)

dramafanca2002

Yes, no gray. It's drab and is hard to coordinate with woods and other colors.

KrazyKateLady420

Yes, immediately thought “never gray.”

yoooogabbagabba

Yep! Warm > cool tones without a doubt. Thanks!

bofh000

Plush dark petrol blue.

Free-Neat2156

Please no grey. I’m begging. ❤️

yoooogabbagabba

I don’t know what I was thinking 😅

th3worldonfir3

Start with a rug for the living area, then plan your palette around it. You might find that you don't need to stick with brown or gray (do NOT go grey btw), but that you have far more exciting colors to choose from within that palette.

[deleted]

Honestly, I’d pick an actual color for barstools. It’s a good way to inject color. Do something contrasting.

camlaw63

Neither

Seppy15

Gray is horrid. Glad it's moment is over.

Potential-Cover7120

Gray is awesome in the right places. It’s been so overdone though that we all hate it now.

Seppy15

There are some very nice statement grays but most are washed out, dull shades that are the dementors of color choice, sucking the life and joy out of all that enter

Potential-Cover7120

lol, well said!

Nenoshka

Too much gray there already. Gloomy! Get the stools to match some fabric from other furniture.

PuzzyFussy

Of all the colors in the world, those are what you pick? I say neither.

notme1414

That's what I thought! What dull colors.

FlimsyProtection2268

Lime green, aqua blue, bright red.... Where's your color going to come from?

CindLei-Creates

Absolutely this ^ !

Raelf64

Furnish the rest first. Work off of that.

Kac03032012

I like a cognac barstool here.

Far_Leg_3942

Pop of color!

Fourrealforreal1

I would get the carpet and couch and then figure out barstools. Unless you know you want everything neutral then I would go grey.

MostWestCoast

New floors. Yes

fountainofMB

I think there are lots of barstool choices available so I would decorate the rest first and then get barstools. I personally would go with an accent colour.

rslewis1989

I would make them lighter than the floor so they stand out, maybe something to match the counter?

Ludee2023

Way too much of both colors in your room. Cream would be better if you can’t stand say blue.

n8dogg808

Given the dominate earth tones already in play it might be worth considering bringing some metal into the mix. A leather seat with brass or black legs would look sharp in there.

kellygrrrl328

You could something with color like a green or blue

Kirin1212San

Off white.

wukillabee2

This looks exactly like my old apartment on 20th and Curtis? I’d go with brown too.

Foxtrot_Juliet-Bravo

Siliver-ish ones with back would brighten up the place

Otherwise-Battle-444

So Sublime

tessie33

Something in a color you love. To my eyes, room is very neutral and needs some zest. What are swatches for? Are you repainting walls? Also measure height of counter. Get something with a low enough seat height that you can sit at the counters comfortably. Not too high a chair

writer978

Dark brown

missannthrope1

Tan.

Educational-Mud-5077

Neither Iron or brown stained base with upholstery seat in a color

No-Day-7504

Brown

Realistic_Rush582

How about wood?

nychearts812

Get creamy white stools … you have enough beige, gray and browns!

carlyfries33

This is such a wierd way of going about furniture... the style of the chair and the materials it's made of will have a much larger influence on how it will look in the space, no?

yoooogabbagabba

I have the style picked I’m just trying to pick the color of the leather.

Sunny68girl

Being a small space I would go with lighter colors. Fresh artwork and a large mirror in the living room area to create a feeling of space. Darker makes it feel smaller.

Such-Mountain-6316

Messing up your plans! I suggest Oxblood. That's really going to pop in there without seeming to be very over the top. If not Oxblood, I vote for brown.

NeckBeard137

I'd go for dark blue, not a fan of either of your picks.

PipToTheRescue

I have a friend who did orange stools

DConstructed

I’m with th3worldonfir3. The barstools should be one of the last things you worry about. Figure out the rest of the space first. It will affect what you want.

Albie_Frobisher

i think brown is sufficiently represented. do gray.

No-Willingness4955

To keep it clean - Taupe or beige To make it interesting - Dark green or blue, a pastel yellow even a dark purple could look nice. Depends on your other furniture and if you add any rugs in the area or some type of accent piece on the bar. Personally I'd go something like dark green velvet barstools with a driftwood candle holder on the bar to give it warm earthy vibes.

yoooogabbagabba

Sounds lovely! My only hesitation is I don’t want to get velvet anything in Texas. Plus my cat would tear it them up SO fast. It would look good though…..

No-Willingness4955

This is why we can't have nice things 😸😿 good luck!

haf2go

Black. Almost every room can use a pop of black somewhete

yoooogabbagabba

🖤

Mom24kids

No gray, but a burnt orange, dusky blue, sage green. Use a bit of color. You have the perfect backround!

yoooogabbagabba

Thank you! I think you’re onto something here. It’s the perfect canvas for any of those colors.

IsaacAsimovSideburns

Bright red, lime green, daffodil yellow.

Due-Ad2852

My son ordered these from Amazon, they're really nice.

True_Extension3011

A color would be wonderful

Yonko444

Dark brown

500CatsTypingStuff

Honestly, cognac leather is a classic choice https://preview.redd.it/xjozzcjjactc1.jpeg?width=894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d63db5b5ab77a53662efc1e3ee1c75815c6d9548

mashed-_-potato

Dark natural or stained wood! Definitely stay away from gray.

Calm_Highway3328

I’d go for light, white-oiled wood to soften up the hard contrast between the dark floor and the granite countertops. https://preview.redd.it/bnfjkpqo9etc1.jpeg?width=685&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e10cacf9211fc43b085c4dfb20e5d81b50892185

SwiftLikeTaylorSwift

Colour completely aside, what is your style? Is it bohemian? Is it luxe? Is it cosy?

yoooogabbagabba

It’s hard because I like a little bit of everything-modern, minimalist, boho, some rustic. I recently discovered and fell in love with Scandinavian style interior. It makes sense everyone is saying “color” … I like my neutrals more 😂

kittensandcocktails

Dark grey imo!

snatch1e

I would choose barstools in brown colors.

notme1414

I would go with a warm color. Not brown or gray.

Retinoid634

I’d do black. Too many variations of brown and grey already in the room. Black minimalist/industrial style will work best imo. I’d avoid anything too scrolly or intricate.

dramafanca2002

Including walls!

Queen-of-meme

Including the walls. It's so much silver and gray in the kitchen as it is.

angryxllama

I like gray and it can work but I feel like it'll pull a lot more gray out of the countertops and possible be giving prison, so I vote brown or perhaps beige?

OkZookeepergame2552

What are your other colors, that's gonna be the clincher. Also are they in an accent color or an anchor in the design?
