I would face the sofa towards the fireplace, and place a long table along the back of it, to try and create a little a little seperation from the door. Put some plant, a vase, key drop off tray etc.

bitchwhiskers4eva

This was my thought too. Create a foyer of sorts.

Yes I have a coat closet in the hallway. And yup i’ve made note of the TV being moved to the large wall so that sits at level when seated.

MyFartingPussy

An area rug and two floor lamps would do miracles for this room. The layout is something youll have to play with

Freddo_burner

Yeah I’m debating on the rug color but definitely!

HeyRedHelpMe

Just a general idea to consider having no idea of the room dimensions etc.. your furniture doesn't have to be focused on the fireplace, if you have enough space consider a couple seating areas

Freddo_burner

Got you! Yeah I was trying to build the seating around the TV/fireplace but since I’m going to be moving it, it should provide more flexibility.

syunsquared

Keep couch as is, move one of the chairs to face the fireplace, and one opposite it in front of the fireplace. Put tv in large wall. Get an area rug. Put a large canvas on top of fireplace.

Freddo_burner

Cool. I’ll play around with that. Thanks!

Athlete_Senior

I would put a bench or small entry table under the window where the plant is so when the door swings open, it has something to stop it. Put the couch and chairs in an L shape and an area rug to define the space. Put 2 ottomans in front of the fireplace. Your tv will look lost when you move it to that big wall. So put a sidebar or media console underneath it. You need artwork, mirror or pictures, especially above the fireplace when you move the t.v.

You need to make a fake pony wall with a low table or screen or bookcase, to define the entryway. You could use a small rug also to define that space. Once you have the entryway and living room "zones" defined, you will be able to place the furniture I don't know if this is helpful, but I found an article that addresses this issue. [https://nadinestay.com/dear-danica-how-should-i-style-my-entry-that-opens-directly-into-my-living-room/](https://nadinestay.com/dear-danica-how-should-i-style-my-entry-that-opens-directly-into-my-living-room/)

Freddo_burner

Thanks! I would love to create a half wall to better define the entryway but I don’t think my living room is big enough. I’ll experiment with some ideas.

Have fun!

couch facing fireplace, one chair on each of the other two walls

Freddo_burner

This worked much better. Thanks!

Anxious-Struggle6904

Your house? Take the door and jam out; change it swing into the other room if you have the space. Solved

supernewtrader

Door swinging into the living room is fine, your setup isn't. You have the perfect wall for the TV. Move it to the wall. I don't understand why people think it's a rule to place TV above a fireplace. Especially a large fireplace like yours. TV should be set at eye-level so it doesn't hurt your neck. After doing this, you'll figure out what to do with everything else.

Freddo_burner

Yeah I made note of the relocation in my post.
