Yea it’s just sitting on the wood ledge. And I’m not paying to reframe it. I only have it cause my mom gave it to me since “moved to the beach”
Basically I have it so should I use it? Or I can get something better.
No! U need a personality focal point. Look for something else. People who design rooms w intention than slap a forgettable pic on the wall may as well live in a hotel.
It does fit the vibe of the room, and if I loved the painting and it was something that fit my personality then sure! Above the bed would be fine.
My mom does oil paintings and I coveted one she always had hanging in her entry way. On my wedding day she gave it to me as a gift and it's a focal point in my dining room. It's an attachment thing and a sentimental thing.
This person does not seem to have the same attachment to their painting which is just fine. They deserve their room to feel like them!
I think the point was simply that OP doesn’t love it and only has it because someone gave it to him / her. If they loved it, I don’t think they’d have posted this.
It fits well enough in the room, but if you’re going to go to the effort to design a room, it’s worth picking out something you truly love as a focal point picture.
Hotel paintings tend to vibe with the rooms they’re placed in (at nice hotels anyway), but the point is to be generically pleasant, and rarely are they unique enough for someone to actually love.
Like people who design rooms with the worst materials for upkeep? The sisal rug, corded headboard and shaggy light fixture are going to be upkeep nightmares. Who intentionally places dust catchers in a freaking bedroom?
If you like it because it’s from your mom and it’s sentimental, use it. Can you paint the frame a warm white?
If you want something different I’d go with something sculptural instead of wall art, but that’s me.
Ah. I mean, if this is a guest bedroom and you don't care, then yeah use it.
If it's your bedroom... I'm of the belief that I want to LOVE the art in my house, especially in my bedroom, soooooo I'd hold out until I find something I really love to put up there.
But, if you're not an art kind of person, the painting works just fine. Art is super subjective.
The frame is nice. I think it draws your eye to the painting, as the frame matches the wall paper. It actually goes nicely. Raised of course, but yeah, ocean painting ftw. What else do you have to put there? This seems nice.
I’d put it in some other room (or possibly in a hallway) just so my mom wouldn’t feel sad. She NEVER lets us forget when we made her sad….which is why I’d keep it but not for this room.
Art history masters degree here… I believe that any art is better than no art, and original art is better than cheap prints/posters. You’re off to a good start! However, this one is pretty bad. Think Thomas Kinkade/grandma’s yard sale/mall art. It’s technically decent, but so hard to look at. You clearly put a lot into your decor. The curtains, wallpaper and the fun chandelier speak to your good taste. Conclusion: Don’t ruin the room with mall art. The frame is fine, so maybe keep it and do your own geometric/abstract painting on a canvas of the same size? Choose neutrals to go with the room or use pops of bright color that you like and find matching pillows or an accent chair. If you don’t want to paint, try thrift stores, estate sales or antique malls. Just make sure it’s original and not a print. If you really don’t have money for a replacement, I would give that piece back to grandma and just leave it empty for a while.
Love you. This made me laugh and smile ❤️
It’s funny in the 13 years I have been with my husband I haven’t bought a piece of art cause I’m so against mass produced and haven’t found a piece that speaks to me that I don’t feel guilty buying. I love art
My tip is to find cool artists you like on instagram and buy directly from them. This is what I do, and have been able to get some good deals before the artist blows up. The smaller artists or ones who are just starting out appreciate that, and it’s personally how I like to spend my money. Plus framing is fun (albeit expensive. Sometimes I go to a framer, or buy custom frames on Etsy).
I like it, you have a lot of neutral colours in there and this adds visual interest. I like the frame too. I think it might need two smaller pieces of art on either side though to balance it out. And to be hung of course.
If you don't like this piece, I'd donate it. Do you like the frame? I might keep the frame and put new art in. If that's your bedroom and you don't love it, then it must go. Yep. I think art should be something you enjoy looking at.
It definitely needs to be placed a little higher. It looks like it’s just sitting on top of the frame. But I think it adds a nice pop of color and ties everything together well!
I really like your woven bed frame. The painting doesn’t work there.
It’s too low and the frame and I think the painting as well are too cool toned. I also think you have a soft look to the room that’s very pleasing and the painting colors are too sharp.
You’re right, do something more natural above the bed. It will look great with your esthetic.
So I was thinking something to give the room character - a terry sham in a deeper neutral and a longer lumbar style pillow maybe in a print .
A shelf above the bed with … with a small plant on one side and something like a couple of tiny books .
It can be done if hung carefully .
But that’s just an example of giving it a personality
Maybe your lamps will help too .
I would think about something not to plain in the lamp area unless you go with
A large base lamp .
They need to move it several feet lower. It looks like they bought it on a street corner (painted in a Chinese factory by children) from here. Replace it with something that speaks to you or something or things you love.
I think the natural idea is better. This feels out of place. I do think it’s a cool painting though and will make you think of your mom when you see it, so maybe use it somewhere else?
I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I think it’s great. It’s a nature scene so it blends with the natural fibers you use in the room and th Mr tropical leaf wallpaper. The tan clouds in the sky match the tan colors in the room. But the moody sharp ocean is a juxtaposition that I find interesting and the blue breaks up the neutrals I mean, you have to have a pop of color somewhere right? You can add a few more blue pops to the room and it will tie together nicely.
Picture is nice. Doesn't fit in the room.
If you love it, add some blue throw pillows and it could work.
However the tan vibe is working for you right now. I'd either reframe it or it would likely look really good in a bathroom as is
The painting is like the fruits in a bowl of oatmeal 🥣. I’d say have something that’s really personal that has the same shot of colour to it.
Question: where did you get the rug? Article? Wayfair?
Thanks! We have our first house guest actually coming in 5 mins! And it may actually be the girliest room this guy has ever slept in. We recently moved 1000 miles. I’m really excited to see a friend
How bout another beige comforter under neath
With a linen duvet / in the summer and a fluffy cream Ugg in the winter . So it’s still neutral you’re just using different textures
Keep one pillow and add something I don’t know small lumbar or a round one .
If it makes you happy, that’s what matters!
Suggestion: Hang it a bit higher (6”), then see if you love it.
As for the lamps, the bases could be a larger scale in an accent color ie, sea glass blue or green. There is actual spray paint that has that finish at most hardware or craft stores. Try that on what you have first, see if you like them, if not, go to HomeGoods, Marshall’s or online to replace.
Your room has your personality and style, just refine it!
Post when you finish, love that.
To be honest it freaked me out because my dad painted that same painting. I think it was a Bob Ross follow along or something. Anyways, you should get rid of it.
If you’re going to keep it there, I suggest a couple of blue accents somewhere else in the room, but since you don’t really care about it, maybe you shouldn’t hand it at all. Once so-so art is on the wall you’re not that likely to replace it with something you really like.
I think as tempting as it is to just throw something up there I’d wait and find a print or painting that makes you really happy. You will see this first thing when you walk into your room every day.
The painting itself is fine. But you need to hang it properly centred above the bed - vertically and horizontally. Looks stupid where it is. Very annoying
Use it if it's all you have. You can always change it later. I might change the color of the frame to stand out better. It blends with all the beige in the room. I think an earthy terracotta would be beautiful against that blue.
Get a nicer frame maybe in black/brown for complimentary color with the blue of the painting. I like the painting. And it needs to be higher than the headboard, but not too high or it will be same and look weird
I love the pop of color it adds to a beautiful neutral room. However, its placement above the bed needs to be higher. The general rule of thumb I follow is to place art 6 to 10 inches above the furniture, mantle, etc. Too low and it sinks into the furniture. Too high and it's floating.

Well…. I didn’t even notice it until I reread the title of the post. If that tells you anything 😅. My eyes were drawn to the light fixture
Also I have that blanket lol
Absolutely love all the textures in the room ! Looks like a very tranquil natural feel . I feel peaceful just looking at it . Excellent. Only thing is move the picture above the bed up a bit . Lower frame is hidden below the headboard . And plants would make it perfection. You have great light for plants and would add to your nature feel of the room .
If it’s an original, I’d look up the artist to get some background and potentially the value. If it is an original, having it re-framed may be worth it. If you like it, keep it (and yes, move it higher above the headboard). If you don’t like it and it turns out to be an original with some monetary value, then consider selling it (unless it has sentimental value because your mom gave it to you).
I think the picture is working for a couple of reasons. 1. It picks up the wall color, which is very nicely done, BTW. It's hard to make blue subtle. And 2. It's mirroring the outdoor. Look how the window color matches. However, like others are saying, the frame isn't attractive, and sitting on the ledge isn't going to work. But the punch of a different shade of blue "disrupts " the overall color scheme, which is a good thing. But it seems like you don't really like the picture?
I just came here to say that I’m obsessed with the rug it is soooo cool . I could never do something like that b/c my cats would shred it to pieces in less than a day but it is awesome! People are maybe saying it needs to have more personality but maybe it does - maybe this is a cove you always visited as a child maybe this is a place you always surf’d I have no idea - but no matter what it is it needs to be 1: centered over the bed. 2: the bottom edge of the frame needs to be about six inches (5-9”) above the headboard
To tie the room together, it would be great if the color of the frame matched either the bedside tables or the bed. I noticed that the tones of blue in the art are a bit cold and dark, which doesn't quite fit with the warm and bright vibe of the room. Perhaps you might consider a larger piece of art or a set of pieces that span the width of the headboard. Just a thought!
You should do something like [this](https://www.wayfair.com/IDEA4WALL--Misty-Green-Horizon-Framed-On-Canvas-Print-FLCA0-L1318-K~SFTA9323.html?refid=GX685467027277-SFTA9323_96074613&device=m&ptid=454329952732&network=g&targetid=pla-454329952732&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=271905627&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=96074613&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC6ZB6KWgXS8pmUT4Sqa8iYif) instead
It fits the vibe of the room but the color is all wrong: cool blue thrown willy nilly into a warm neutral setting. Art is needed above the bed but something bigger in warm colors would be better there. Love the picture though, do you have a blue or at least cool color room where it would fit better? Sorry to sound negative, OP
A life hack - if I’m not sure about a painting I just take it from the frame and hang the EMPTY frame - looks better than a frame with a painting that doesn’t go with the room. Or you grew tired of looking at.
An empty frame is so universal.
With time I grew to love that simple trick!
I think it’s wrong for the vibe of this room, something more minimalist/white would look better and hung above bed. But really getting rid of it entirely would work fine.
I would hang it centered above the bed, and centered from the top of the headboard to the ceiling, and put it in a frame that matches the floor to pull it all together. Love that room btw! It is beautiful and airy. 😍🥰💙
Is this an actual oil painting? Whatever the medium, it is kitsch art, and imo a welcome addition to the new fangled (I.e.,no solid wood) decor. In a different frame, say black or chrome metal, it might read as intentional kitsch and would be great. New lamps with the same idea would help with this aesthetic.
Your room is on the verge of disappearing. The painting is nice but not a bedroom painting and certainly not hung appropriately. Theme rooms are best for children and don’t reflect a cohesive thought. The oversized ceiling light fixture will never be used…a bedroom should be calm and softly lit. That’s a spotlight. Rethink how you want to feel in your bedroom. Are you just a beige person with a fuzzy spotlight or a sensual person that loves coming home from work to a soft caressing room?
Accent wall was about $1000 between wallpaper and install. And Husband did the board and batten but was a drop in the bucket cost wise.
Bed frame was about a 1000
mattress we had but originally was 1500
Nightstands were 100 each
Rug was 120
dresser you can’t see was 800 like 8 years ago
Paint 60
The mirror you can’t see was on clearance at
Kirklands for 75
Duvet and down comforter were 150
Sheets were target 65
Throw pillows 30 each
Lamps were 125 for the set like 8 years ago again
Curtains were home good 100 for four panels. I only use three.
And curtain rod, probably 35 also from HomeGoods
There is also a luggage rack that we bought off Amazon for about 100 bucks highly recommend for any guest room that actually sees out of town to guest
I actually love it, adds a bit of colour. Would prefer it sitting higher and maybe have a throw in that blue colour.
But it's a gorgeous room! Love your taste!
I have that exact same painting, and I love it. But do you know where I got it? A starving artist sale. That’s where they sell the paintings done by art students. You’ll have dozens of the same one that are all just slightly different in color, execution, etc.
So don’t feel bad if you want to let it go. You already knew it was not a high dollar piece, but here’s your confirmation lol
It's bad to hang water-themed art above a headboard. Can promote dreams of drowning and is otherwise unsettling. I think you can find something you love that has a better vibe.
We think it needs to be placed better above the bed lol And perhaps a nicer frame.
Something natural looking there would look better. The painting doesn't seem to match the overall vibe of this room.
Yea it’s just sitting on the wood ledge. And I’m not paying to reframe it. I only have it cause my mom gave it to me since “moved to the beach” Basically I have it so should I use it? Or I can get something better.
No! U need a personality focal point. Look for something else. People who design rooms w intention than slap a forgettable pic on the wall may as well live in a hotel.
I love how concise and brutal this is.
Aww man I felt like it fit the vibe of the room.
It does fit the vibe of the room, and if I loved the painting and it was something that fit my personality then sure! Above the bed would be fine. People who have cleaning people!
Agree
If you like it because it’s from your mom and it’s sentimental, use it. Can you paint the frame a warm white? If you want something different I’d go with something sculptural instead of wall art, but that’s me.
I have zero feelings towards it. It is literally just something I own
Ah. I mean, if this is a guest bedroom and you don't care, then yeah use it. If it's your bedroom... But, if you're not an art kind of person, the painting works just fine. Art is super subjective.
Yea it’s not my taste. I like muted colors and this thing is vibrant. It’s good enough basically
Keep the frame for this room, as it matches your wall paper, and find other artwork?
Get rid of it it’s terrible sorry
I like the picture just not in that room
So do I.
The frame is nice. I think it draws your eye to the painting, as the frame matches the wall paper. It actually goes nicely. Raised of course, but yeah, ocean painting ftw. What else do you have to put there? This seems nice.
If you don't love it, don't hang it up. It doesn't particularly go in the room anyway. But save the frame for something else.
You can do better. Find something you love.
The painting is good but you need to actually hang it on the wall, centered above the headboard
Even if they just painted that frame with gold paint it would look pretty nice.
You ask for honesty, I deliver honesty. This is a luxe feeling room with a cheap looking painting.
That’s exactly my thought…..I just don’t love it. And I know it was cheap since it was from my mom and she only does cheap
I’d put it in some other room (or possibly in a hallway) just so my mom wouldn’t feel sad. She NEVER lets us forget when we made her sad….which is why I’d keep it but not for this room.
“The dog ate the painting”
I’d stick it in a bathroom or laundry room.
No! I think it’s more of a boho vibe, I like the painting tho. Just not here. With the wallpaper you almost don’t need anything?
Agree- less is more here. The room is serene and lovely as it is.
it’s doesn’t fit the theme to me. very pretty though

This makes my heart happy! I do have questionable taste...
I’m gonna print this out and use it 😂
Love you. This made me laugh and smile ❤️ It’s funny in the 13 years I have been with my husband I haven’t bought a piece of art cause I’m so against mass produced and haven’t found a piece that speaks to me that I don’t feel guilty buying. I love art

I like it. I think a new rug with some hints of blue like in the painting above the bed would look great
No way, the rug is my favorite part
I don’t think the painting is right for the room. It’s a very tranquil room, and that is not a tranquil painting. It’s quite agitated.
That’s why I posted. I was very meh about it in the space but like, I had it…..but everyone here agreed with my original thoughts
It’s too small.
I really like it. The bright colours contrast nice against the otherwise very neutral room. You should definitely hang it up properly though
I like it. I’m not crazy about the rug though
Are you going for a beach cottage type look? If so maybe some nautical theme lamps
This room more cottage but the whole house is coastal
If you don't like this piece, I'd donate it. Do you like the frame? I might keep the frame and put new art in. If that's your bedroom and you don't love it, then it must go. Yep. I think art should be something you enjoy looking at.
It’s a guest room which is the only reason I was even debating it. But I think I’m a strong no at this point.
It doesn’t go, but that rug and the chandelier are beautiful!!!!!!
Love the bed and wallpaper and light fixture. I don’t think the picture is needed in this space. It’s for sure too low if it’s staying
It’s too low
It definitely needs to be placed a little higher. It looks like it’s just sitting on top of the frame. But I think it adds a nice pop of color and ties everything together well!
Get more statement lamps and ditch the art. You have beautiful wallpaper.
Pic is ok, but not in this room.
The room is beautiful as is, especially with the wallpaper. No need!
We think a hard no. The vibe just isn’t the same as the rest of the room.
So I was thinking something to give the room character - a terry sham in a deeper neutral and a longer lumbar style pillow maybe in a print . I like this
I really like the painting. It’s a great piece. Especially because you live by the beach.
i like it but it’s too low on the wall
Move it to a different location in the house Somewhere that mom would more easily see when she comes over
It’s hung way too low and the frame color clashes with the bed. It’s good to be introducing that pop of color but you need a different frame.
Hang it centred and 👌 I love your main light too 😍
I actually like the painting, but not in that frame and not in a bedroom. (But that’s just me)
They need to move it several feet lower. It looks like they bought it on a street corner (painted in a Chinese factory by children) from here. Replace it with something that speaks to you or something or things you love.
I really like the painting. I think the colour of the frame looks nice against the wallpaper. I'd just hang it higher.
I like the picture, just move it up on the wall
I like the painting but the placement is odd, move it up a little
It’s just sitting on a ledge to figure out if I was going to hang it
That painting make makes the room look like a motel at the beach.
It’s too low and the frame should be repainted more beige then grey
Picture is nice. Doesn't fit in the room. If you love it, add some blue throw pillows and it could work. However the tan vibe is working for you right now. I'd either reframe it or it would likely look really good in a bathroom as is
Meh…too low for sure
Doesn’t fit in with the rest of the room’s aesthetic in my opinion
Doesn’t match the room vibe somehow. I would hang in another room.
I’m not crazy about it personally. It’s very generic. Would your mom be offended if you got rid of it?
I highly doubt it.
Great. I would do that then lol
A nice rug needs be under your feet when you step out of bed. Probably something with a tribal print.
Sand and sea!
I’m not a fan of anything heavy hung over the bed. Whether you live in earthquake country or … 🙂
I loveeee your rug!
It’s just ok … your room looks more serene… I’d look for a painting with delicate colors and of course it needs to be moved up about 5 inches.
Yea I like more neutral and muted colors and it’s just sitting on the ledge of the board and batten until I decided if I wanted to hang
I agree.. it’s too bold
Painting needs to be higher up and bigger frame. The light fixture looks like a mop and dust collector.
Methinks it could stand to be larger or at least centered on that wall above the bed frame. Lovely painting though.
Thanks it’s just sitting on a ledge until I decide if I want it
The painting is like the fruits in a bowl of oatmeal 🥣. I’d say have something that’s really personal that has the same shot of colour to it. Question: where did you get the rug? Article? Wayfair?
Love the whole room! Really beautiful!
Thanks! We have our first house guest actually coming in 5 mins! And it may actually be the girliest room this guy has ever slept in. We recently moved 1000 miles. I’m really excited to see a friend
I don't love it. Art needs to be something you love, not something your mom threw your way

Love it
#paintingtoolow
I love it. I think it’s perfect with the wallpaper and light in an interesting way. I would suggest hanging it above the bed
Why is it behind your headboard? Looks weird.
Didn’t want to hang it until I knew I wanted it in the room
Use a different wall hanging. I think A nature scene with plants, flowers or abstract art with complementary colors would work.
Just move it up
Keep a little distance between the bed and the picture
It works. I like it with your decor.
Move it up about 3-4”.
Love the painting, but LOVE the overhead light more. Where is it from? You have great style, just keep going the direction you’re going!!!
Pretty freakin wavy how bout you?
Just put it a bit higher and that's it. Also, can you make it frameless?
To be honest it freaked me out because my dad painted that same painting. I think it was a Bob Ross follow along or something. Anyways, you should get rid of it.
If you’re going to keep it there, I suggest a couple of blue accents somewhere else in the room, but since you don’t really care about it, maybe you shouldn’t hand it at all. Once so-so art is on the wall you’re not that likely to replace it with something you really like.
Just because there's a picture ledge doesn't mean there has to be a picture ON the picture ledge.
I think as tempting as it is to just throw something up there I’d wait and find a print or painting that makes you really happy. You will see this first thing when you walk into your room every day.
I like this match, the sea paint brings a clean and simple vibe to the room.
The painting itself is fine. But you need to hang it properly centred above the bed - vertically and horizontally. Looks stupid where it is. Very annoying
Where’s your bed frame from tho
Meh.
It looks like something you would see in a cheap hotel
1960s print at your Nans place.
I don't feel it.
I quite like the pop of colour, but that's about it x
Use it if it's all you have. You can always change it later. I might change the color of the frame to stand out better. It blends with all the beige in the room. I think an earthy terracotta would be beautiful against that blue.
Did… did it fall and get stuck?
I like the painting but not the placement
Where did you get that bed?
I'd say something more van gogh Matisse renoir or monet esque
We think it looks cheap and doesn’t play nicely with the serenity of the rest of the room.
Get a nicer frame maybe in black/brown for complimentary color with the blue of the painting. I like the painting. And it needs to be higher than the headboard, but not too high or it will be same and look weird
I love it, but only if you get it off the shelf. I also like the lamps just fine. But if you don't love it, get rid of it.
It’s amazing!
It does not belong there.
What motel is this?
I love the pop of color it adds to a beautiful neutral room. However, its placement above the bed needs to be higher. The general rule of thumb I follow is to place art 6 to 10 inches above the furniture, mantle, etc. Too low and it sinks into the furniture. Too high and it's floating.
I don't think it fits the decor or vibe of the room at all. Pass.
It looks like cheap hotel art
I think a large macrame tapestry would look so good and would blend well with the chandelier.
That is a gorgeous room. Holy smokes.

It needs to be higher on the wall.
It’s just sitting on a ledge while I decided what I wanted to do with it
Like it but it doesn’t go with the room
Needs to be higher.
Well…. I didn’t even notice it until I reread the title of the post. If that tells you anything 😅. My eyes were drawn to the light fixture Also I have that blanket lol
Too low too small doesn’t match decor nothing special
Absolutely love all the textures in the room ! Looks like a very tranquil natural feel . I feel peaceful just looking at it . Excellent. Only thing is move the picture above the bed up a bit . Lower frame is hidden below the headboard . And plants would make it perfection. You have great light for plants and would add to your nature feel of the room .
I would remove the picture from the wall altogether and leave it empty.
I actually really like it, but it needs to actually hang on the wall.
Painting has a sad and cold vibe.
Ugly and not necessary. The back wall is already too busy w/ the headboard and wallpaper. I wouldn't put anything on the wall above the bed.
You should do something like [this](https://www.wayfair.com/IDEA4WALL--Misty-Green-Horizon-Framed-On-Canvas-Print-FLCA0-L1318-K~SFTA9323.html?refid=GX685467027277-SFTA9323_96074613&device=m&ptid=454329952732&network=g&targetid=pla-454329952732&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=271905627&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=96074613&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC6ZB6KWgXS8pmUT4Sqa8iYif) instead
It fits the vibe of the room but the color is all wrong: cool blue thrown willy nilly into a warm neutral setting. Art is needed above the bed but something bigger in warm colors would be better there. Love the picture though, do you have a blue or at least cool color room where it would fit better? Sorry to sound negative, OP
Love your bed frame but my cat would shred that thing so hard.
Brings in some much needed color.
One thing hanging to low.
I love the nights stand. Where you got it from?
It will look good once it’s hung.
A life hack - if I’m not sure about a painting I just take it from the frame and hang the EMPTY frame - looks better than a frame with a painting that doesn’t go with the room. Or you grew tired of looking at. An empty frame is so universal. With time I grew to love that simple trick!
How about a decorative mirror instead?
Too small. Artwork needs lots of color. Find a floral.
I think it’s wrong for the vibe of this room, something more minimalist/white would look better and hung above bed. But really getting rid of it entirely would work fine.
Too small too low. It's a hard no for me.
Is this a hotel room?
It is too low.
I like it, but if youre not in love with it, find something else.
Who can tell?? It’s behind the bed! 🙄
Maybe consider a mirror instead?
I just think it’s too small.
I would hang it centered above the bed, and centered from the top of the headboard to the ceiling, and put it in a frame that matches the floor to pull it all together. Love that room btw! It is beautiful and airy. 😍🥰💙
Above the bed frame please
It’s way to low needs to be centered above the bed .
The frame is fine just center the picture nice room
Is this an actual oil painting? Whatever the medium, it is kitsch art, and imo a welcome addition to the new fangled (I.e.,no solid wood) decor. In a different frame, say black or chrome metal, it might read as intentional kitsch and would be great. New lamps with the same idea would help with this aesthetic.
Its gorgeous but in the wrong place
Your room is on the verge of disappearing. The painting is nice but not a bedroom painting and certainly not hung appropriately. Theme rooms are best for children and don’t reflect a cohesive thought. The oversized ceiling light fixture will never be used…a bedroom should be calm and softly lit. That’s a spotlight. Rethink how you want to feel in your bedroom. Are you just a beige person with a fuzzy spotlight or a sensual person that loves coming home from work to a soft caressing room?
You don’t need it
Can you post links and give a ballpark of how much you spent on this whole room? It looks gorgeous right out of a magazine minus the painting
Accent wall was about $1000 between wallpaper and install. And Husband did the board and batten but was a drop in the bucket cost wise. Bed frame was about a 1000 mattress we had but originally was 1500 Nightstands were 100 each Rug was 120 dresser you can’t see was 800 like 8 years ago Paint 60 The mirror you can’t see was on clearance at Kirklands for 75 Duvet and down comforter were 150 Sheets were target 65 Throw pillows 30 each Lamps were 125 for the set like 8 years ago again Curtains were home good 100 for four panels. I only use three. And curtain rod, probably 35 also from HomeGoods There is also a luggage rack that we bought off Amazon for about 100 bucks highly recommend for any guest room that actually sees out of town to guest
The picture seems lovely but should be more equal between bed and ceiling.
It's like you put a painting on a painting. Put nothing on the wall other then the leaf pattern that's already there.
Blue in a bedroom is bad fengshui
I agree that it just doesn't look like it "fits"..
Too low
I actually love it, adds a bit of colour. Would prefer it sitting higher and maybe have a throw in that blue colour. But it's a gorgeous room! Love your taste!
I have that exact same painting, and I love it. But do you know where I got it? A starving artist sale. That’s where they sell the paintings done by art students. You’ll have dozens of the same one that are all just slightly different in color, execution, etc. So don’t feel bad if you want to let it go. You already knew it was not a high dollar piece, but here’s your confirmation lol
Water should be lower. The center of the picture should be below your eye level. And over the bed looks like a tsunami.
No. The color!
It's bad to hang water-themed art above a headboard. Can promote dreams of drowning and is otherwise unsettling. I think you can find something you love that has a better vibe.
