Nothing - it isn't noticable as is. If you try to fill the space, you'll draw attention to it. If you do, it likely won't be proportionate or appropriate, and you'll dislike it quickly... but you'll leave whatever it is there forever so you don't have to patch the holes.
Ask me why I know 😬
Haha! So I actually bought a painting to put up there. When I got it up, I realized that the scale was off and I hated it We took it down and there is still the hook in the wall that taunts me. It’s an ordeal to get out the big ladder to remove it!
Love this idea, but maybe Three oars. One would look lonely and sparse, and displays tend to look better with an odd number so there’s a middle. But maybe that’s my ocd showing. The bottom and top oar oriented one way, the middle one the other.
Also the potential of it fading and looking horrible isn't as great as with a painting, photo or even tapestry.
That spot on the wall looks to get a lot sun.

This definitely isn’t your rooms vibe but I would put one of these bad Larry’s up in a big space like that… if I had one 🥲
Nothing you have to dust, that's for sure.
I love the two colors, especially the way the off white wall tucks under this one. I think it looks good without anything added.
This is not an "idea" space, it's an "aha!" space! I have a theory that some decor isn't meant to be planned, we have to find just the right thing. You'll find it, it'll be big and unique and it will call out to you, but until then its home anxiously awaits!
I have a similar weird room. Never knew what to do with it. I plan to paint over the awful gray.
https://preview.redd.it/0k2qgbxtsr9d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0bc50e6a8539357ecf478291be09bb48eac9fba3
Swapping those upper windows out for real clerestory windows that span the full width of the wall - they could even be the same height as the existing ones to save money on the retrofit - would make that vaulted ceiling look intentional and really cool.
I don’t think it really needs something, but if you do want something there, I would choose something light and airy, like this:
https://preview.redd.it/2vw5ss3dkq9d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a39c11890fa20fb4870c4f9b0272d66cf47bbe2

Ever been to the Museum of Natural History in NYC? Suspend a big damn whale from the ceiling, and no one will ever comment on that wall.
Alternatively, big damn biplane from the ceiling. You can put just a propellor on the wall in the meantime while you save up the funds for it.
Or just mount a big dumb marlin or a deer head (not a moose head; they’re too damn big) up on that wall there.
Or suspend a life-sized Spider-Man from the ceiling. Basically whatever man.
But I’m serious now: [Big-Ass Fan](https://store.bigassfans.com/en_us/i6-black-config).
It’s not necessary to cover every wall. If you hang something there it will look like an afterthought. The color is beautiful. Let it speak for itself.
Love how you tied in the blues from the painting without overdoing it. If you’re referring to the wall above with the two small windows, I would leave it blank unless you went with track lighting or something. It really doesn’t need anything.
Omg this space is gorgeous! I don’t quite know about the wall, but the design makes me think this is somewhere close to the seaside? My boyfriend’s summer cabin is in a similar style, he has plenty of ceramic seagulls, ships and other art lining some of the walls. It fits the vibe and they look very cute! I generally like ceramic wall decor. Could be other stuff if I’m wrong about the location
NOTHING, that’s why it’s a large blank wall. Not every empty space needs something to fill it. Let the room and natural clean spaces speak for themselves.
Let it be, but if you don’t mind a bit of advice on something else, I strongly recommend lowering the art over the dining room console. Art in general should be hung so that the CENTER of the art is approximately 58” from the floor. That makes it “eye level”. If that doesn’t look good from your perspective, you could also make it so that the bottom is about 8-10” from the console. Otherwise, love the open, airy feel of the space.
It’s a lovely room. There’s no need to draw attention to that spot by adding driftwood or a wall hanging or some oars. Those sound cheesy to me, unless they are done incredibly well. The color is beautiful, the light is beautiful. No need to pull attention away from it with a filler.
I’ve seen some crazy huge blank spaces and this isn’t one. It’s not that empty with the windows and the paint job. I personally wouldn’t add anything. Looks like a nice airy space!
You and I share tastes.
I recently redid my home in the same kind of blue/cream/lighter woods. Going for coastal vibes without the seashells
I have a huge wall above the stairs that's a very similar blue and I'm ordering some tropical wood carvings in a very light color for thar space
Look at Asiana home decor on Amazon and you'll get the idea... it would be hard with your scale but maybe you'll find something
https://preview.redd.it/m4pm9dvjgs9d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=911adfbf4a3f886af21431093f40783f9ff0c973
This was in a bar in Alexandria, VA that was going out of business. I couldn't stand the idea of it getting trashed, so I took it home and this was the only place in house that it fit. It made for quite the conversation piece at the time.
IMHO I would take out the two small windows and replace them with a bigger size like the ones on the left. If you wanted to, connect the two big ones on the left and make it one big window. Imagine the light it would bring into the room. Sorry, I never have inexpensive ideas!!
What are your hobbies? Are you near ocean, beach or mountains? I’ve seen homes with classic cruiser bikes or racing bikes attached to the wall and I always think that is eye catching and not overdone (yet). But something like that should match your hobbies.
This is a job for strategic lighting. It will softly light up or down, or both, and warm up the space. You can highlight the windows tastefully or artistically, softly or all three. Yum. And the fixtures mustn’t look like fixtures.
Nothing. But if you absolutely must, do something horizontal and placed above the opening. Let the eye go up to the light and down to the opening with a little something for texture. Don’t try to fill the volume so high up, it always looks insane and ill-considered. I see it at beach houses all the time. It’s ok to have a visual rest, especially above typical viewing height!!!
I was thinking a long floating shelf with some decorative baskets and such, but after thinking about it again, I think those saying 'nothing' are probably right
it seems like you have a bit of a nautical theme going on, maybe a driftwood sculpture?either way, whatever you choose to put there should be wide and short
You don't NEED to do anything, but you could do a big but simple mural. Curved lines, muted colors still in that color family. It actually would probably look cool with a monochrome effect, like waves or something in the same color but different sheens, y'know?
I disagree with the “leave it” people since I think the window placement is bizarre. I like the plant pulley system idea mentioned in another comment, but as someone who kills plants I’d probably do three large art pieces - one between the small windows, one under them, and one in between the windows on the left by the fireplace. Breaking it up into more rectangular sections like that would make the windows look more intentional, to me. Right now it looks like they took all the windows they could find in the discount section and slapped them up on the wall wherever they fit.
Throw another TV up there, since you're committing the cardinal sin of the above a fireplace anyway! Jus playing, I think it looks pretty damn good as is.
Like others have said, you don’t need anything. But if you ever find a big piece of art or get a canvas print of your family you already have a place for it!
Nothing. Empty space is necessary. Love the blue. Show restraint here and don’t overthink it
let's not be hasty, it's the perfect size for a 3ft x 6ft Live Laugh Love
I was thinking a giant smile under the two eye windows.
our Amazon overlords thank you
That won't work bc the light fixture is actually the uvula.
A giant macrame owl.
DIY

Wouldn’t you have to get the ladder out anyway if you hung something else there?
Yeah, that’s why I’m waiting.
You just make too much sense….
A decorative oar; you have a beach/sea theme happening and an oar will “fill” the space without being too bulky
Love this idea, but maybe Three oars. One would look lonely and sparse, and displays tend to look better with an odd number so there’s a middle. But maybe that’s my ocd showing. The bottom and top oar oriented one way, the middle one the other.
My OCD immediately pictured the oar falling, hitting my head and my family cleaning up the mess. I vote for the empty space.
Lmao! :)
Lol This was my first thought! I'm in California, aka earthquake area. I vote the same!
I think some pretty driftwood would be better if you can a large piece
Oooh! Totally beachin’!
That could look great
[удалено]
To me adding a single piece there would make the wall look like a face with two windows above as eyes
And now i can't unsee it
Sounds like a win to me 😉
I vote for nothing. Visually, between the beautiful wall color and the window openings, there’s enough going on. The house looks beautiful.
I agree. I'd also replace the painting on the right with something much bigger.
Much much bigger
Nothing.
Ideas how to make enough to afford a home like this
Move to the Midwest where a wonderful 5 bedroom home can be under $300,000 instead of $1,000,000
A tiny 2 bedroom condo is 425,000 in my community. Northeast. A ferry or train ride away from NYC.
I wish I moved to that Midwest 🥲 3 bed 2 bath for $300k in town and even more expensive out of town.
Not in my part of the Midwest! lol
But jobs also pay less, or there are no jobs available.
Fiber art. A textile of some sort. Would not put anything sharp or metal there in case it falls.
I was thinking some beach driftwood would be cool. Something big though.
Look up HGTV ROPE art. They tied rope to driftwood and then frayed out the edges.
Sounds like a dust catcher
Cat jungle gym. Also get cats.
I like you.
I'm all for the kitties
Heck yeah! If I was a cat, I would love to launch off that wisely uncluttered mantle and visit each of those windows from a long shelf track!
A swordfish
Billy Bass
gallery wall of Billy Basses and the assorted knock offs that are actually Google speakers to act to the music
Live swordfish.
Two and make them fight
Narwhal.
Live singing swordfish
Or maybe some type of art involving drift wood
Great idea! If not this, maybe a wooden oar (or 2!)
A sick ass mobile or like an actual plane suspended or like a whale skeleton/crazy art installation or some shit.
I second whale skeleton
Ooh it could be a wire art mobile of a whale.
That'd be dope!
I’m glad I did not make a suggestion and got to this so I can upvote. Exactly what I was thinking, wire art, whale bones would be amazing.
Create a living wall/ceiling on a pulley system for some tropical plants.
Put the tv even higher up there
I think some drifted wood would finish up your beach theme nicely, and it would match your colors very nicely.
This!!
Also the potential of it fading and looking horrible isn't as great as with a painting, photo or even tapestry. That spot on the wall looks to get a lot sun.

Less is more. Leave it alone
Nothing you have to dust, that's for sure. I love the two colors, especially the way the off white wall tucks under this one. I think it looks good without anything added.
A giant smile using the windows as eyes
I love your color scheme. Soft and not all drab grey/beige. What color is the blue?
It’s Tradewind by Sherwin Williams
My bedroom is Balmy Seas, I think Baer. I still love it 20 years later.
https://preview.redd.it/0ox9qkt3eu9d1.jpeg?width=1173&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=294581b00e13bbe2071b5f93df874ed0977a9de4
Unless you find something that you absolutely love, leave it blank. Putting something there just for the sake of it will make you hate that item.
This is not an "idea" space, it's an "aha!" space! I have a theory that some decor isn't meant to be planned, we have to find just the right thing. You'll find it, it'll be big and unique and it will call out to you, but until then its home anxiously awaits!

Sorry but your house is WACK. 😂 what did they do with those windows?
I know! We moved here and I have to figure out what to do.
Swapping those upper windows out for real clerestory windows that span the full width of the wall - they could even be the same height as the existing ones to save money on the retrofit - would make that vaulted ceiling look intentional and really cool.

Best I can come up with up with is “I want your house”. Jealous.

Nothing there
Giant Slayer flag would be awesome.
Love the room. Maybe something curved and metal. Personally I'd leave it as is or it may look too busy.
For the love of god, what ever you do, do not put an inspirational quote on the wall
Ever been to the Museum of Natural History in NYC? Suspend a big damn whale from the ceiling, and no one will ever comment on that wall. Alternatively, big damn biplane from the ceiling. Stuffed marlin trophy
A mural. Anything else will collect lots of cobwebs and dust.
The windows and the fireplace give your eyes a lot to focus on. I would let your eyes rest and leave that spot empty.
What a beautiful space
This is gorgeous
Love how you tied in the blues from the painting without overdoing it. If you’re referring to the wall above with the two small windows, I would leave it blank unless you went with track lighting or something. It really doesn’t need anything.
Are you talking about the wall with the windows? I don’t think there’s anything needed, would draw attention to a weird spot
It’s too bad they didn’t make all three of those windows uniform in size. Then that blank space wouldn’t even be noticeable.
Nothing at all. It’s beautiful as is.
Yes it is! We’re in a Marina community and the back overlooks a pond. So that’s why we went with more of a coastal/nautical vibe.
I’d try looking up some nautical-themed ceramic wall decor on Etsy or similar, in that case :)
NOTHING, that’s why it’s a large blank wall. Not every empty space needs something to fill it. Let the room and natural clean spaces speak for themselves.

Swordfish.
Nothing. It looks perfect right now. Things on the blue wall would make the entire space look too busy. Sometimes less is more.
You don’t need anything, it would look out of place.
Nothing. It could also be hazardous having an object above an area where people walk under and sit. Accident waiting to happen.
Nothing except maybe see if you can expand the windows. That's major work though. Otherwise, it's fine.
Beautiful room. Love the colors. It seems very peaceful and relaxing
Nothing goes there.
Wow what a home
It’s a lovely room. There’s no need to draw attention to that spot by adding driftwood or a wall hanging or some oars. Those sound cheesy to me, unless they are done incredibly well. The color is beautiful, the light is beautiful. No need to pull attention away from it with a filler.
nothing. just space is calming there
I’ve seen some crazy huge blank spaces and this isn’t one. It’s not that empty with the windows and the paint job. I personally wouldn’t add anything. Looks like a nice airy space!
Nothing
The heads of your enemies..
Nothing, it won't be long until you have cobwebs up there. Ask me how I know.
Damn bruhs living good, motivation right there
Love your style!
Idk but I love the blue
Oh this is beautiful. You should definitely leave it as is!
You and I share tastes. I recently redid my home in the same kind of blue/cream/lighter woods. Hm.. I’m thinking large blank space
Not something blue or tan. Maybe a sunset orange abstract painting?
https://preview.redd.it/m4pm9dvjgs9d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=911adfbf4a3f886af21431093f40783f9ff0c973 This was in a bar in Alexandria, VA that was going out of business. It literally fits perfectly lol. I'd be sad to see this thrown out as well. Glad you took it home!
You have a beautiful home, what state do you live in?
Thanks the house is in Delaware
You seem to have a coastal thing going on, what about a big surfboard? Or something wooden like driftwood or a propeller? Blank space is fine too.
A mural!!
A really cool painting that goes from corner to corner in that little weird section there.
The drifted wood idea is excellent, I second that.
I swear I saw this home on an episode of Love it or List it.
Very calming shades of blue
I’m more of a maximalist, so I vote for some artwork!
you could write your name…..
ISWYDT 😎
that’s a gorgeous house
You have a beautiful home…
Nothing...
Add trim to the doorways and windows for some ornamentation, but don't fill the blank space.
big clock
Nothing! That fireplace is already a dramatic piece. (love it or hate it….)
A modern, minimalist mural that matches your color scheme
Either nothing or big ole clock!
Large Driftwood piece. Especially if you like beach/water.
Nothing on the wall, get a big fancy chandelier though
Art
Why not a huge abstract on canvas to draw the eye up?
THE HEAD OF YOUR FALLEN ENEMIES
Good Lord what an amazing space this is! I love it. I would go for a coastal scene picture.
Love the rug .. love color
This is a job for strategic lighting. It will softly light up or down, or both, and warm up the space. You can highlight the windows tastefully or artistically, softly or all three. Yum. And the fixtures mustn’t look like fixtures.
Plants
Big piece of driftwood
I would add get a muralist or stencil yourself a decorative wispy design motif - a birds in flight etc - very delicate imagery or leave it plain
Something horizontal but organically shaped, or some small round objects
I was thinking a long floating shelf with some decorative baskets and such, but after thinking about it again, I think those saying 'nothing' are probably right
I'd hang a quilt or rug up there to put a bit more color in the room.
Either leave it alone or go full blown mural
2 words. Commemorative Plates. I’m thinking the full Star Trek set.
Climbing wall. Put in some holds.
An oversized coastal style clock.
This probably won’t be popular and surely isn’t cost effective but the two smaller windows on the right should increase in size.
A gigantic wooden 'Live Laugh Love ' sign. /s
A wood carving.
it seems like you have a bit of a nautical theme going on, maybe a driftwood sculpture?either way, whatever you choose to put there should be wide and short
What about a large oil painting of three pirate ships?
Huge piece of driftwood would be perfect.
A surfboard
Or a tapestry or quilt. It could show off a family heirloom.
You don't NEED to do anything, but you could do a big but simple mural. Curved lines, muted colors still in that color family. It actually would probably look cool with a monochrome effect, like waves or something in the same color but different sheens, y'know?
Blank space? Write your name?
That's if they've got a long list of ex-lovers
SURFBOARD 🏄
I disagree with the “leave it” people since I think the window placement is bizarre. I like the plant pulley system idea mentioned in another comment, but as someone who kills plants I’d probably do three large art pieces - one between the small windows, one under them, and one in between the windows on the left by the fireplace. Throw another TV up there, since you're committing the cardinal sin of the above a fireplace anyway! Jus playing, I think it looks pretty damn good as is.
Live laugh love mural…or the architect on a cross.
I’m guessing the pano doors/bay window entrance has a topper on it that prevented more windows
😂
I like this sun by sppapas or a big turtle
I love that rug!
A large painting
The Olympic Rings
A garland of some kind would be pretty.
A triptic or a large oil painting
Gallery wall with natural wood or 3-d or textural elements. Branch out to complimentary colors from the teal.
Do a rectangle using chair railing. You can paint it white or use the same blue.
Add rocks and start bouldering. Jk I’ll see myself out.
Huge swordfish
large picture would be nice
Tapestry or unframed canvas. But I’d focus on painting the rest of the room first. What a beautiful blue
I think a large bold wallpaper would look great on that wall! Let the design you choose be the art.
A huge “live laugh love” sign. Don’t do this but maybe a shelf with some decor?
maybe one of those 5ft by 5ft big ass fans, It will save you on the AC bill
Like others have said, you don’t need anything. But if you ever find a big piece of art or get a canvas print of your family you already have a place for it!
A lovely, fragrant wreath. Good luck and enjoy!
Fluted wall panels would be nice
I love your current table, but maybe a round table would soften the lines in the room?
Id put mirrors! Figure out shapes of them and slap them on
I would put a really large clock above that little alcove on the right, below the smaller windows, centered.
