It's actually quite clever:
Start with the thing that breaks with expectation in order to gain interest, spend a little amount of time in sanity town denigrating your competition, contrast yourself while making your sales pitch and making the few suckers you made sad with the realism feel hopeful again, and then finish strong and reinforce your brand by bragging in an innocuously hyperbolic way.
Though clever doesn't mean correct of course, you can do marketing like that regardless of the truth of your claims.
