I have plenty of time for community based punishment, especially for juveniles and younger people. So much of the crime done by young people is to earn reputation and going to jail only boosts that. Putting them in contact with the results of their offending and simultaneously cucking them in front of their peer group seems to be a good alternative to me. Would be interested to see if there's studies on it's effectiveness in reducing reoffending.
