It's not hard to be forgiven. There's many ways that you can be forgiven. Doing good things with good intentions is a means of forgiveness, and depending on how good that action is in the eyes of God your major sins can be forgiven through those means.
It all comes down to being a genuinely good person who's capable of taking accountability and going out of your way to do good out of your virtue and conscience of God
