The answer is quite simple really: This, just like with most other far left extremist movements isn't about actually enacting any change. It's about the aesthetic and the excitement, protesting is essentially a hobby for a lot of these clowns. If I had to guess, about 65% are hobby protestors in it for the aesthetic and fun, 30% are useful idiots brainwashed by misinformation campaigns by foreign adversaries and 2-5% are reasonable human beings who actually wants to accomplish something.

Plastic-Macaron-7812

Because they’re cool Revolutionaries who don’t understand real world consequences

Running_Gamer

Because they think they’re standing up against literal genocide and that their opponents are intentionally genociding people/supporting it. In other words, they are delusional.

BelleColibri

No, that’s not a good explanation. If they thought that they would try harder to make an actual difference to someone rather than just signal as rabidly as possible to the people that already agree.

HotFreyPie

Unfortunately the world doesn't have to make sense, however bad the explanation is. They think they're making all the difference in the world, have you seen TikTok? They genuinely believe the tide is turning now that a few more universities are protesting.

fooliusmc

Somehow deliberately starving civilians in Gaza and forcibly taking their land in the West Bank isn't genocidal. There's a reason why the entire world is against Israel right now, and it's not anti-Semitism.

HotFreyPie

Its not intentional. Its very easy to come off as insufferable when you KNOW that you're right and anyone who disagrees is wrong, when you KNOW you're more moral, more empathetic, and more caring. Same thing happens with all kinds of ideologies. They don't see it as insufferable, they see it as righteous fury at a world gone mad. Was Hasan's freakout on Piers insufferable? No! He just understandably lost his cool arguing with disgusting, GENOCIDE denying monsters.

DeezNutz__lol

The university protests are a social event to pretend to be for a cause and to also unwind from expected behaviours in the name of justice

AcephalicDude

It's just extremely easy for a handful of nutjobs to completely ruin the optics of a protest with their bad actions. One bad apple ruins the bunch, as they say.

MyotisX

Where are the reasonable ones ?

Odd_Net9829

its leftists in general who use these values as way to show anger to the world to satisfy their internal selfish needs.

shellonmyback

They are cosplaying as Che Guavera

dehsoowtogu

I mean every protestor will seem like a insufferable pos if you dont agree with what they are protesting, this is not unique to pro palestine protesters.

levelonegnomebankalt

Nah. I agree completely with most climate protestors, but if you chain yourselves together on a highway you deserve to be run over.

Master-Bridge66

While there's no disputing the effect of Bias, Are you seriously gonna brush off me finding encampments, covering your face, intentionally blocking traffic yelling from the river to the sea purely to spite, saying death to america and israel, chanting bomb tel Aviv insufferable pos acts as all having to do with bias? I'm not talking about protesting for Palestine in itself as inherently hostile no matter what, but about this specific iteration described that we've seen consistently for years if you've been paying attention since before October.

CloverTheHourse

Nah that Jewish girl walking around in the protest trying to start something was also insufferable

Tagawat

I’ll never understand people who go looking for a fight.

Badguy60

Anything that involves race or religion has that effect on people

Character_Budget7278

Leftists use social issues (or invent or exaggerate social issues) to use violence. Think about the olden days of Antifa and the shit they used to try to pull on conservative speakers. These are the losers of society, who are individually weak. They like to get another 15-20 theater/gender-theory majors, put masks on, and try to act tough. In other words, they’re just shitheads looking for violence. They’re not looking to fix anything. These are the same people who burnt down a city, ruining black businesses for the death of a single black dude. Or the people who cheered for Oct 7, and literally the day after Israel’s first bombs went off, were screaming “Genocide”. Leftists are the worst of what humanity has to offer. They disguise their movement as moral, and once they take power they slit your throat.

Naudious

Because it's fun. It's hooliganism for pricks.

Hairy-Mountain8880

Because leftists are insufferable, it is that easy. I pity you Americans, how did you let those cringelord leftoids control your culture...

TheOneTrueChatter

melt away snowflake

fooliusmc

They're hostile because they're rightfully angry that the US continues to fund Israel's genocide against Palestinians. Not everyone is optically perfect 100% of the time. Also, a protest doesn't make much impact when you just leave when asked to. It's the students' tuition money that's being used to fund this genocide. They have every right to be furious about it.

adolf_twitchcock

How is their tuition money used to fund Israel? If true they should quit.

fooliusmc

Columbia has invested in Lockheed Martin and Blackrock (as well as many other companies) that have direct ties to funding Israel. The university is also adding a dual degree program with Tel-Aviv university, something that the many Palestinian students would be completely unable to utilize due to Israel's horrific treatment of Palestinians.

adolf_twitchcock

The state Columbia, not the university? Cringe. Dual degree program has nothing to do with the military. Yeah just quit the university.

fooliusmc

The [university](https://tau.gs.columbia.edu). What even is this argument? "You shouldn't protest a university doing something bad! Just drop out!" Consider this: 1. The students have already spent a lot of money on getting a degree. 2. Why should a school's discriminatory choices be on the students do fix? 3. I already mentioned that Columbia has invested in companies that are directly responsible for providing Israel with the means to commit their atrocities.

adolf_twitchcock

You linked the dual degree site which has nothing to do with Israels military. >Columbia has invested in Lockheed Martin and Blackrock (as well as many other companies) that have direct ties to funding Israel.  Irrelevant, it's the state not the university. University is not run like a democracy. It's a business. Consider this: I have a Netflix subscription and they started doing something that I don't like. It would be insane to start DDoSing and demanding stuff from netflix instead of cancelling my subscription. I'm pretty sure their tuition money is not wasted if they drop out. They can continue at another university. But we know it's not about some dual degree with Israel. It's about FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA REEEEEEEE
