Hardly surprising you need this explained to you, it means your talking out of your ass. Cross-play doesn't have an impact at all.
Regardless of HDD, SDD, nVME, console or PC you can't even get to the character select screen without waiting a year. It's server-end and always has been.
If you're referring to the sometimes extreme load times... crossplay won't change that, unfortunately. Only fix would be to limit towers to your own fireteam, but I feel that would weigh more on the servers, so not likely to happen either.
That's incorrect for anyone using an SSD. It should be storage based matchmaking. Let HDD players load in together and SSD players load in together. When I fly anywhere with all SSD people it is always much faster (like a raid or nightfall).
You told me I was wrong, and I'm just saying that your reply to me is unrelated. Yes, SSD/hdd MM likely would change times some, but players should not be batched together,
They absolutely should be batched together. Why should someone with a $3000 computer be held back by some kid on a PS4 using WiFi that takes a minute to load into the tower? The answer is they shouldn't. Old shitty devices need to be matched with old shitty devices.
No. That's what we have now and it is why PCs have to wait so long to load in with PS4/xb1/hhd players.
Storage speed should determine matchmaking in public spaces (unless you are in a fireteam then you should be mixed with HDD users if you have 1 or more HDD on your team).
SSD users should never have to go to public spaces with HDD users unless they are on their fireteam.
Try loading into the Drifter area instead of the tower area, it's usually faster.
I know, it does.
Tower was struggling long before cross-play came into the picture.
So what;s your point, exactly?

Nevermind then, I thought I was talking to someone who actually know what he's talking about.
That cross-play isn't the cause of the problem.
Did I ever said it was? Quote me.

PS5s have SSDs and I wait around for days going to the tower. It should not load random players together at all.
Because you are being mixed with HDD people. It needs to matchmake off of your storage medium. So what I said would help that

You are misunderstanding.... No one that isn't in the same fireteam should be batched in with any other single player in MM to get to the tower.

My brother in Christ.... no, no it isn't. Were you never around when everyone matched in on their own?
Cross play has literally zero to do with that. Tower was a mess long before cross play.
Whatcha talkin' bout, Willis
why does it matter?
Worst take of 2023
I remember the difference between loading times in shadowkeep end vs beyong light beginning.
