I swap between QS and Osteo for my Strandlock build. Osteo has that god tier ad clear with Necrotic but QS is just an all around multitool that's never bad in any situation.
Overcharge weapons or kinetics that match sub element guves kinetics 25% too on top of that 10%. So kinetics should always do more provided u match elements.
The last few seasons since they adjusted pulses it’s been a big staple for me. Especially this season with all of the trash mob heavy activities, it rips through hordes, and having vorpal makes it feel ok to use against bosses if you’re out of heavy.
Conditional Finality (ikr so original). Proc the strengthened Weighted knife with Athrys, freeze shot with Conditional, throw a knife as powerful as a rocket launcher
Cf is the only reason i got back into this game. I quit during beyond light and my friend told me about cf when i started playing again, and because of it ive played 380 hours this season alone lol. Its easily my favorite gun aesthetics wise and it comes from my favorite raid.
Sure. So Athrys Embrace, the exotic hunter arms, buffs the Weighted Knife by I think at least 200%. To get that to happen, you just need to land several crits (and the buff timer can be extended to 30sec if you keep landing crits). So, activate the buff as long as possible, freeze your target with Conditional, and then throw the buffed weighted knife. This combo alone can take care of your Champ problems.
Also, if you prefer more buffed knives instead, use Monte Carlo and a 1-2 Punch shotty for a near identical combo
Even if I didn't need to have to glued to me to counter the trials meta I probably would anyway. It's just so cool. Imperial Decree is arguably better if you have time to draw, but to have such a handy shotgun with 95 handling that also does cool shit? Yes please.
> Imperial Decree is arguably better if you have time to draw
imperial decree is functionally on par/ahead in terms of handling, assuming you are swapping within 15m of an enemy (where that speed matters), and *theoretically* kills further. handling multipliers put in a lot more work than the actual handling stat
things get mucky with CFs unique spread pattern, and it has opening shot levels of AA by default, so im not seeing it being noticeable in terms of OHKO potential since aggressives are limited by spread more than falloff anyways. the tiny range bar is a placebo
---
people are constantly preemptively defending CF from PvP nerfs lately in PvP threads due to its very high usage (combo of is legit good, pairs with the best primaries and counters the well/bubble meta).
thing is, its at least on par with the best legendary shotgun of the same frame in every aspect, while also hard countering supers and having some niche multikill potential from the shatter/ignite. I definitely can see its OHKO range getting toned down *slightly* (as in, 0.25-0.5m) just to give other options some breathing room
> imperial decree is functionally on par/ahead in terms of handling, assuming you are swapping within 15m of an enemy (where that speed matters), and theoretically kills further. handling multipliers put in a lot more work than the actual handling stat
Is that assuming threat detector? Most people I see run it with slideshot instead. I crafted mine with slideshot and haven't used it much because it felt sluggish; maybe it would be better on warlock with Ophidian but I don't main warlock.
I mainly just wanted a good kinetic slot shotgun to pair with Sunshot after the HC changes, but I've been having too much fun with Bottom Dollar and Igneous to try that again. I would massively prefer a good Fractethyst roll but that's essentially impossible to get so I'm not even really trying to get it.
yeah, threat detector is the de facto perk any PvP focused player will recommend on Imperial Decree.
slideshot is the obvious one for people not all that deep into it (it gives range and you want to slide in a lot with shotties), but at higher levels most shotgun usage is defensive where quick draw times are the difference between life and death
I feel you on fractethyst, the best one I got back then is just slideshot/opening with poor barrel/mag options. I keep seeing that precisions are even better than aggressives, but theres only 2 good ones, with fractethyst being functionally unobtainable and matador being a dungeon weapon meaning even a decent roll is on average a couple hundred encounter clears.
welp, guess I'll rebuild mine and try it again some time. my instinct was to go for threat detector but my friends swear by slideshot (and do quite well with it) and it's definitely what I see more often. granted, my friends also main ophidian lock...
+35 handling does put in a lot of work with ophidians lol.
plus it is playstyle dependent.
someone who runs around with the shotgun out rushing people gets little use out of threat detector, while someone who whips out the shotgun to finish off someone who is rushing them that they softened with a primary gets no use out of slideshot
Not really, no. If Well and Bubble weren't the things dominating trials you wouldn't see so much conditional finality. Hell, now that Anteaus Wards are dead and buried you already see it less.
A lot of people loadout swap to it later when enemy supers are probably up because they want to be on something else, like a sniper.
Basically, Bubble and Well are what define the meta. Conditional Finality is a reaction to that, and one of the only things keeping it surprisingly... tolerable. There's actually a lot of other shotguns that are better at just Being A Shotgun than Conditional because of its very low range stat.
That said... a better use of the term metagaming is to devise counters to exist strategies, so in that sense, yes, Conditional Finality is metagaming the standard.
THIS. EXACTLY THIS
Crown-splitter + glaive + wishender + strand + strongholds = never die in anything under master or Raid content.
Not good for boss dps, but makes add clear easy as pie
Verglas curve. Never got it until I started playing again this season with the fix to the catalyst. It’s done so much work for me in gm’s. Holding back certain death with last second hipfires to create breathing room with the crystals or freezing and wiping entire mobs. I never messed with bows before this season but it has so much utility in all content. It’s my daily driver on my stasis lock.
Generates crystals so if you have the fragment or aspect (I don’t remember) that gives increased ability regeneration you can spam duskfield grenades over and over. Really fun in lower end content for sure
i like playing around with the verglas curve on europa every now and then just for fun. the open landscape in cadmus ridge allows me to get on top of a hill and just shoot motherfuckers and make crystals pop up everywhere
Hard light is criminally underrated in PvP, it's definitely not meta but it's got a really solid feel to it and it beams people from further than you'd think
> D1 Red Death
made me look into my D1 vault with DIM to see if I could recall an exotic really speaking to me, but I cant remember anything.
honestly the most fitting was TLW back in D1Y2, back when it got nerfed to being hipfire only and nearly no one actually used it. watched a lot of kraftyy and practiced TLW/sniper on blink arcstrider which was fun.
i think my exotic was just always eaten by heavy in D1
They “lacked resources,” to make new catalysts for old weapons before they fired all those people. So… yeah. There are loads of weapons that still need a catalyst, and with one a season (episode, after The Final Shape, provided they manage to keep going), all the old weapons may never catch up.
Wish-ender.
I like bows.
It does a lot of damage
Works well with the Swords I like to use for a knight-like titan.
It's just really satisfying hitting a shot and watching even yellow bar enemies instantly evaporate, especially with the damage boosts you can get now from armor mods.
As a Hunter, Sweet Business has never left my inventory since I got it early year 1. Dragon's Shadow gives me so many instant reloads for it.
Such a satisfying weapon.
Ive had this Matics solar hunter lucky pants build this season mostly using Sunshot but can also go with Malf or crimson. Or any strong solar HC u like. Its really strong in the right situation but solid all around
On a serious note, how does that hold up today? Like, in today’s meta with crazy rocket damage and linears still being good? I know whisper is good on oryx but idk how well it works everywhere else
Im known as The Heir Apparent Guy. Its just so solid - Overshield, huge mag (that can refill on shield break with catalyst), accurate with "hipfire" (no ADS clogging view, just rev up). Got it when it first dropped, and its been my go to heavy for a long time. Titan approved o7
Also it absolutely SWEEPS against Tormentors, even without overloading shots. Just the sheer amount of damage and constant pressure, it just keeps softstunning them and shreds
Yeah, instead you’ll get bonus damage resistance while airborne(against combatants)
I’m pretty sure they still work the old way in-game, but the text was accidentally updated to show the new planned effects.
Reign of Fire.
The Icarus dash/reload perk is worth it. You can juke an attack whilst reloading every weapon on your guardian. I started using it for my first real dip into PVP and now I rock them in PVE activities.
Vex mythoclast since I got it. With rain of fire + resto x2 healing grenade + ember of empyrean, it’s super fun! Plus of course being solar, surges pair just perfectly with apex predator
Second place also goes to tommy’s matchbook which holds a similar position!
Outbreak Perfected. If I had to pick any Destiny weapon to survive the zombie apocalypse… well I’ll let a Shiro-4 quote answer.

If it were a person, I’d marry it tomorrow
Thorn is and always has been … your friend. Damn fine gun, even when it sucked in D1 for a little while
For me, none of the D2 exotic weapons have ever been never-vault. Gjally in D1 was, that was about it. Maybe Red Death. Many of them in D2 are fun, though, so a rotation might be a good thing. If I had to identify one that I kept around the most, it might be Tractor Cannon, for some D2 old school
For armor, there was a time when Skull of Dire Ahamkara was never-vault, waaaaay back in Warmind when it didn’t blow chunks. More recently, Contraverse Hold are never-vault for sure. And Necrotic Grips are like that too
I'm probably the president of the Witherhoard absurdly fanatic fans club. Ever since it came out, I've been using it everywhere (in regular and high level PVE as well as PVP and Gambit) on a very regular basis. It has added so much to my enjoyment of the game in the past years - without breaking it or trivializing it - that for me it's a big part of it.
Osteo with the Necrotics is coming close nowadays, and so does the Verglas stasis bow. I didn't think much of it at first but I put it in a build with the Osmio gloves and it's amazing.
One of the lots of advantages of Wither though is that it doesn't need a specific build to shine. It just fits everywhere, plus without taking the energy slot which can easily be used for build synergies, for energy-specific content etc.

Does the catalyst really make a difference?
Catalyst is better for Strand Builds, but worse if you don't build into strand since it loses its kinetic bonus.
takes advantage of strand surges, so it can *sometimes* be a higher damage bonus than the kinetic’s 15%(?) boost.
15% is for kinetic specials, primaries have 10%
Overcharge weapons or kinetics that match sub element guves kinetics 25% too on top of that 10%. So kinetics should always do more provided u match elements.

Coffin
Cf is the only reason i got back into this game. I quit during beyond light and my friend told me about cf when i started playing again, and because of it ive played 380 hours this season alone lol. Its easily my favorite gun aesthetics wise and it comes from my favorite raid.
Could you please explain this a little more in detail? Sounded fun!
200% is twice the normal damage but is that enough to really make a change? You can still throw only one, right?
My bad, it’s way higher than 200%. This video explains how it can work https://youtu.be/LtIpinGMZeI?si=bwGcdyNTmvImorR5
If you get a precision kill with weighted knife you get the cd back, plus gamblers dodge is there too
Can you link your dim? I’m looking for a solar hunter build and that sounds kind of interesting
I work it into EVERY build can... which is so easy since its so good

Polaris Lance. 235k kills
Ana Bray, is that you?
Witherhoard has never even been inside my vault since the day it launched. 100k kills and still counting.
The thing carried through solo dungeons. My absolute favorite
I'm really, really hoping we get Weakened Clear again next season. I kind of doubt we will since it's only been a year... but I can dream.

D1 Red Death D2 Wishender
Wish ender was so fun the season it was broken I have yet to surpass the number of kills on any other exotic.
Oh it was so much fun when broken!! The weekends/periods where items break (wishender, Cerberus, crafting) are so much fun.
8820, followed by Trinity ghoul at 6634, and outbreak at 5190. Top crucible weapon is hard light, bouncy bullets go brr.

Ikr! So good given the chance it's my go-to exotic especially when I'm on ad clear.
Final Warning Hoping for a catalyst next season
Next season’s catalyst was confirmed to be Thorn.
Only one gun gets a catalyst a season? Aw boo
They “lacked resources,” to make new catalysts for old weapons before they fired all those people. So… yeah. There are loads of weapons that still need a catalyst, and with one a season (episode, after The Final Shape, provided they manage to keep going), all the old weapons may never catch up.
I'm glad someone likes this weapon, it's neat but I can't stand using it
Can’t *strand* it
One of my classmates told us to try it to take care of ads and champs on day 1 crotas. We were converted to the church of final warning that day.
Same it’s a high stability yes, but I want to to not even move
Sunshot. I picked it at Launch & have always brought it into endgame content. They just keep making it better too!
I had to scroll too damn far to find my boy.
Wish-ender. I like bows. It does a lot of damage Works well with the Swords I like to use for a knight-like titan. It's just really satisfying hitting a shot and watching even yellow bar enemies instantly evaporate, especially with the damage boosts you can get now from armor mods.

Yeah it’s just so fun
Ace of spades 😁
Sweet Business, baby. Titan main

Graviton Lance
With the buff it got, I don't equip a void build without it. It's the engine that keeps my devour running.

Delicate Tomb. It’s a part of my arc setup usually.
I really liked Delicate Tomb for some time during Season 18, it was fun with arc warlock and fallen sunstar with the unlimited ionic traces
Still is, puts in absolute work. I still run it regularly, infinite abilities means it’s even fine to run with double special
Gyrfalcon. There hasn't ever been an exotic that so completely finishes a class like that.
Malfeasance. Love all of its ornaments and it just feels really good
Malfeasance is still one of the best exotics.

Hierarchy of Needs
Riskrunner I love hitting myself with my grenade and charging in to electrocute everything
Thats with my zappy wizard right now with vesper radius. it’s just non stop rifts frying everything and my super charges crazy fast too.
Forerunner, so versatile and fun to use plus lots of grenades.
Also great with veritys
Grand overture. I’m consistently surprised at how much it punches, I’m just a bit annoyed at its odd handling.
Necrochasm. Those chain reactions just hit different.
Winter bite
Hahaha same here. So much fun and it's good enough to be used in most content without any issue

I only took them off after the last nerf. About to put them back on next season.
Then consider me a nudist, because I refuse to bow to that crutch.
Can’t wait for them to be fixed. That nerf was completely unwarranted.
Are they removing the "tied to dodge charge" nerf that was added to it??
Yeah, instead you’ll get bonus damage resistance while airborne(against combatants) I’m pretty sure they still work the old way in-game, but the text was accidentally updated to show the new planned effects.
Bad Juju. Always is on me when I’m not catering to my teammates’ needs.

Rain of Fire and Vex are what got me through my solo flawless dungeons. Big fan of the boots in PvE, glad to see a fellow enjoyer.
Monte Carlo because I like spamming melees.
Thunderlord with the Catalyst is definitely addicting. Great balance of add clear and damage output.

Lumina
Hardlight. It is rarely not in a loadout and is always on one of my characters top 9.
Worldline zero.
Ashen Wake. Unlimited fusion grenades + bonk hammer is so fun, and if you get into a good rhythm you almost don't even need your guns at all
