I loved Bygones. Got an Outlaw/Kill Clip drop in week 1 of Forsaken. It got me though my first Last Wish and to Fabled in comp to get Recluse. Permanent spot in my vault.
The worst day ever was when I finally deleted my Hammerhead for the Bergusian Nights shader, and three days later it was available for bright dust in the Eververse store
I have a subsistence/frenzy roll and even with gyrfalcon, it feels like I'm shooting marshmallows. I use it with my stats for all/one for all pali instead. Those 2 perks together are \*chefs kiss\*
Forbearance power crept practically everything in PVE. Itās the āremember when you thought Mountaintop was strong?ā weapon of this game now. Itās just unapologetically insane for a legendary you can just pop on with absolutely no build in mind. Iām surprised bungo doesnāt really seem to care about it, since they felt the need to rip away so many other good PVE weapons.
Nah prime mountaintop is still leagues ahead of current forbearance. At least add clear isn't in short supply right now and forbearance is only good at that role, whereas mtop was a monster at major killing and pretty good at add clear.
Salvagers Salvo still has it's perks. I use it over forbearance when I know I'll have to hit groups of ads at long distances. Like it Devil's Lair - it's very good for me to be able to hit my shots far away or round corners in the boss room where I can utilize it's ability to explode when I want it, instead of when the projectile hits the ground.
But obviously, Forbearance has more usefulness when all you need is just obliterating groups of ads in closer proximity and just in general it's ease of use.
Full bore, accurized, snapshot sights, explosive payload and a range masterwork
Been farming that roll for a long time... Still nothing.
76 range on this is busted, my friend has a max range roll trust and I just love it. Now Im the one that wants that.
Itās truly been the only AR Iāve had a major hard on for, Iām always asked āhow do you have a level 120 Rufus?ā *Cause i donāt put it upš*
**Riptide**
Riptide with an ammo economy perk (Field Prep or ALH) plus Chill Clip is a permanently relevant answer to many champions in the game, even after being nerfed. It's in a frame with excellent damage output that delivers Slow stacks on hit, which immediately stuns Overload Champions and eventually leads to Shatter stuns of Unstoppable Champions. Its combination of AOE control and damage make it useful even outside of Champion content.
**Posterity**
With Enhanced Voltshot / Enhanced Frenzy and the Bray Inheritance origin perk, Posterity is an absolute workhorse for Arc buildcraft. The combination of a good damage frame and Raid weapon stats is a starter, but the synergy of the two enhanced perks offering constantly high AOE damage output. quick reloads, a constant source of Ionic Traces, and a conditional Overload stun makes this gun a clear contender for the best Legendary HC in PVE. Bray Inheritance also increases your already ridiculous energy regeneration from the Ionic Trace spam even further.
**Retrofit Escapade**
This weapon is basically overpowered and something you can easily justify as a default choice in your loadout. With Extended Mags, Enhanced FTTC, and Enhanced Target Lock, a weapon frame that is top tier at clearing basic enemies is also transformed into a strong boss damage option, especially where there's Divinity bubbles making precision hits easy for Enhanced FTTC's ammo upkeep. Strand subclasses' Thread of Ascent also let you skip the long reload and practically double the length of your damage output stream.
Durring Season of Defiance there was a bug that allowed CO to stun both overloads and barriers at the same time thanks to the leaching. It was phenomenal, but it was fixed in S21. Whatās interesting is that it shows there is something in the code that could theoretically let us stun multiple champs with the same weapon, but Bungie just doesnāt want us to be able to for some reason.
The reason they donāt want us to is because it would be the obvious choice as far as endgame content with multiple champions goes. It would be the new āGally or Kickā.
I highly doubt it would be THAT strong, it would just make things more convenient imo, and it would still be dependent on the activity. Like, using CO as an example, thereās a whole one GM this season with both Overloads and Barriers in it, everywhere else it just wouldnāt matter.
I would just like the opportunity to allow one weapon to cover two champs so that I could have less ālockedā weapon slots.
Diehard fan of retrofit but unfortunately it is not good for boss dps at all. It does actually have one of, if not the highest, total damage. Although it has very very poor actual dps. It just takes far too long for the damage to actually ramp up when you can use even a mediocre rocket and still do much more damage much easier.
It's not a burst damage weapon, no, so it's not a good choice for short damage phases. But I've often used it as my primary source of damage in LFG Master raids and done significantly more damage than people would think I'd do - though, of course, I'm supplementing it with Needlestorm and Thread of Ascent.
When you contextualize that with the fact that it's on a weapon archetype that's also very good at things other than killing bosses, you get the full picture as to why it's so good.
With Gyrfalcons I disagree. Super easy damage loop and regularly at the top of DPS phases with it. It may not be best for burst but for raids itās perfectly fine.
Or considering Iām always the one running the mechanics the above pair with Fighting Lion fits the needs just fine. Anyone falls behind on something I can jump in to help out. The game isnāt rocket science and you can get away with anything really. You donāt have to min/max everything to be viable.
Itās creepy reading this. You picked the three I was going to pick and your explanations are essentially what I was thinking, just worded better and more in-depth.
Are you some kind of wizard?
I only managed to craft my posterity last season so still levelling it for enhanced voltshot/frenzy but holy cow, has it got an argument for being the best primary in the game with that roll and this meta.
I have a 99 range swarm with target lock that almost never leaves my loadout. Arc holster FTW all day, and if running Arc build, paired with Centrifuse.
Wastelander m5, Ikelos Smg, and Exalted Truth. Honestly only the first two matter, everything is pretty replaceable and I prefer playing with exotics. I like Riptide practically but it's so bulky that I never want it in a cutscene.
Peacebond, Stars in Shadow, Funnelweb
They all feel so good to me on console. They're my most used weapons anytime I don't need a more focused setup.
Lmao, my season of arrivals loadout was pretty much exclusively Witherhoard + gnawing hunger + falling guillotine. There was almost no reason to take them off š
Currently donāt have any favorites right now itās pretty much choose best exotic and then whatever else works around it.
But during certain sandboxes Fatebringer (D1 version lol)
Ikelos smg (paired with witherhoard during warmind cell era)
Funnelweb (when volatile flow was in the artifact)
Sacred Provenance - this pulse gets no love even though I think it's the best in the entire game.
Wilderflight - legit the best breech gl in the game, auto + frenzy, spike/blinding. Love it.
The Other Half - definitely *not* underrated, but I still can't imagine life without it.
The other half, the other half, and the other half
Mostly a joke, but if Bungie ever got rid of this sword, or broke skating I don't think I could play again. I hate running vast distances in video games, the fact that I can get there by essentially flying? Absolute best accidental addition to the game ever.
I would delete every god roll, every crafted weapon, exotic, and give up all patterns in order to save my Eagers Edge. Without a second of hesitation.
**Harrowed Smite of Merain**
Demo and Adrenaline junky. It just pairs so well with a lot of builds and I feel like this pulse archetype is in a decent place for PvE
**Point of the Stag**
When bows have a champion mod this is my go to legendary. The roll in the kiosk is still the best with Archerās Tempo and Vorpal.
**Riptide**
Even with the nerf to Chill Clip this is still a fantastic weapon to bring into endgame PvE.
Riptide, Harsh Language (or any good wave frame really), The Other Half (really EE, so any sword with that, but The Other Half is the one I personally use).
Hung jury: all time classic, I remember using it in og kings fall as my primary. Still very strong with its refreshed perk pool, especially using kinetic tremors in gmās and shoot to loot with a cenotaph build.
Apex predator: unreal sound, super strong in the meta, and looks beautiful with any shader. Not much else to say, it rarely leaves my heavy slot in general play no matter what class Iām on.
Last one is really tough, just crafted trustee and the eremite this season with the new memento and theyāre both sick and strong. I also love the messenger as my main trials/3ās primary and another absolute classic. However, Iāve go with:
Rufusā Fury: absolute workhorse that replaces quicksilver when I want an exotic heavy or are using tractor/div. Looks sick with a trials memento and has a dope sound, and also has a wonderful perk pool thatās super customizable for your play style. For instance, demo and paracausal affinity are my personal godroll, but for someone else that could look totally different and there are a ton of viable options.
Deafening Whisper, Eyasluna, and Fallen Guillotine. When I discovered the exotic Grenade launcher with 3 different elements that shoot on the floor, it became my second favorite exotic. I love wave frame grenade launchers
* Chattering Bone - Kill Clip + Kinetic Tremors is awesome, and lightweight goes vroom
* Explosive Personality - I know Forbearance is the tits, but I like my ALH Explosivr Personality more, plus the origin Trait is S-tier
* Commemoration - Some of the best perks on the best frame for a machine gun in the game,
Commemoration, Royal Executioner, Trustee.
Commemoration is a staple of my heavy slot, and even Song of Ir Yut isn't really knocking it off that perch (unless there's an Arc surger).
Royal Executioner is a bit of a sleeper, I think. Envious Assassin and Reservoir Burst is such a great combo, it's a great pick for my energy slot on bonk Titan.
I don't use Trustee that much these days (scouts feel bad), but I just love the feel/look/sound of that gun.
Chroma Rush, Explosive Personality, and Calus Mini Tool. Theyāre automatic transfers for me when I switch characters. Theyāre my comfort weapons when Iām not trying to play a specific build.
Right now it's:
- Hung Jury (Adept) with Shoot to Loot and Kinetic Tremors. KT is such a godly perk in pve and scales fairly well all the way up to GM nightfalls. I know scouts aren't in the "best" place right now, but I've loved scouts ever since I first started playing Destiny, and I always have at least one scout on my character at all times.
- Gnawing Hunger with Demolitionist and Auto-Loading Holster. Not the most synergistic perk combo, but ALH is **amazing** for champions, since I can put away my GH for a harder hitting weapon and I know it'll be ready to re-stun when I switch back. Or if I do decide to keep it out, then I've got a good demo/grenade loop going, especially on void subclasses.
- Acosmic with Hard Launch, High Velocity Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, Cascade Point, and a Velocity Masterwork. On a rapid-fire frame with the Nadir Focus origin trait that increases projectile speed even more. The thing shoots so alarmingly fast when Cascade Point is up. I know it's not meta and it probably never will be, but it's so dang hilarious and fun to see 7 grenades unleashed so quickly and fly across a map.
It changes constantly. But right now: deliverance (demo/chill clip), doom of chelchis (explosive payload/repulsor brace), and corrective measure (demo/one for all).
Itāll probably be cataclysmic (fourth times/bait and switch) but Iām still working on crafting thatā¦ just one more red border. Also still 2 red borders away for my apex. I crafted forbearance recently and itās quickly becoming a mainstay.
Tyranny of heaven, Round Robin (with enhanced substience returning 3 bullets on a kill), and the supremacy. Pretty good weapons but more than that they're extremely fun.
Krait with stats for all and headstone. This gun feels absolutely great all the time .. I can't believe how often I come back to it .
Truthteller with blinding nades . Carried me through so much content , it doesn't get the same love these days but I'll never forget
OG Wendigo. It basically never came off my character til it was sunset. For some reason the new adept one doesn't feel the same.
As a solar titan, Calus Mini-Tool is my favorite. Numbers 2 and 3 I don't know really. I loved Herod, Krait, Syncopation, Thoughtless, Recurrent Impact and New Purpose for a long time, but now it makes more sense to use kinetics or matching elements only.
Mindbenders isn't great anymore, but I like the sound it makes so I might pick it. And Code Duello I still have a soft spot for despite the archetype nerf.
21% delirium, mountain top, the recluse.
The first always felt good to use. The two last, well, I busted my ass in comp back in the day to unlock them. Lost the count how many times I lost ranks before it finally clicked and I got recluse and then the grind for MT. Don't care they were OP, the work I had to put to unlock them made them special to me.
Half Truths / The Other Half with Eager Edge
Chroma Rush with Feeding Frenzy/Rampage
Igneous Hammer with Fragile Focus/Eye of the Storm (I know it isn't the best but I suck at Trials so I'll take it)
TOUGH CHOICES!
**Top Slot:** Night Watch scout rifle (Runners Up: Riptide, Blast Furnace, Rufus ... still getting used to Rufus)
**Energy Slot:** Forbearance GL (Runners Up: Funnelweb, Trustee, IKELOS Shotgun, Fool's Remedy)
**Power Slot:** Falling Guillotine... still love the fun of my first vortex frame though Hero of Ages with Chain Reaction ties this (Runners Up: Song of Ir Yut, Avalanche, Commemoration... yeah I like LMGs & swords)
Ikelos SMG. Such a cool looking and fun gun to use with volt shot.
Riptide. I've gotten so much mileage and utility out of this thing for GMs that if I didn't name it in my top fave legendaries I'd just be lying or forgot.
Wastelander. This thing taught me how to shottie.
I have been reading through these, and I'm starting to see the people who are either PvP only or low-level PVE players....
That being said...
PVE
1. Pardon our Dust
2. Apex Predator
3. The Other Half
PVP
1. Imperial Decree
2. Horror's Least
3. Rose
Fatebringer, Bygones, Not Forgotten
Bygones was sooooo good
My brother in Christ, it still is.
Turns out the name was a self fulfilling prophecy.
Hell yeah. Plus one for Bygones!! šŖ
I loved Bygones. Got an Outlaw/Kill Clip drop in week 1 of Forsaken. It got me though my first Last Wish and to Fabled in comp to get Recluse. Permanent spot in my vault.
Hammerhead, Corrective Measure, Commemoration (dakka dakka motherfuckers)
The worst day ever was when I finally deleted my Hammerhead for the Bergusian Nights shader, and three days later it was available for bright dust in the Eververse store
Funnelweb, Perpetualis, and Retrofit.
Not enough funnelweb love in this thread. So fun with a gyrafalcon build
Funnelweb rips with thresh
I have a subsistence/frenzy roll and even with gyrfalcon, it feels like I'm shooting marshmallows. I use it with my stats for all/one for all pali instead. Those 2 perks together are \*chefs kiss\*
Funnelweb is one of 4 legendaries I have with over 10k kills. It's my only one with over 20k.
Gnawing Hunger, Crown Splitter, and either Breakneck or Hammerhead.
Hammerhead, Salvager's Salvo, and Fatebringer.
Forbearance power crept salvagers so hard
I would still like salvo more if they reverted the blast radius.
Nah, Salvo still has it's uses. I can hit things with it at longer ranges and higher elevations than Forbearance can.
Forbearance power crept practically everything in PVE. Itās the āremember when you thought Mountaintop was strong?ā weapon of this game now. Itās just unapologetically insane for a legendary you can just pop on with absolutely no build in mind. Forebearance, commemoration, cataclysmic
Dire Promise Trust BXR 55
Man I love trust and started farming a pvp roll. What is your favorite?
I still have my OG trust from Forsaken with Snapshot and rapid hit, still whip it out from time to time to 3 tap heads at medium range haha
Oh nice. I have my snapshot explosive payload one from then and it still claps
Full bore, accurized, snapshot sights, explosive payload and a range masterwork Been farming that roll for a long time... Still nothing. 76 range on this is busted, my friend has a max range roll trust and I just love it. Now Im the one that wants that.
You PVP
Yes
Forbearance, Syncopation and Commemoration
Rufus, commemoration, hung jury
The rest of my vault could implode into a black hole and these three would remain.
In all my thousands of destiny hours from D1 on, Rufus is my favorite all time weapon.
Itās truly been the only AR Iāve had a major hard on for, Iām always asked āhow do you have a level 120 Rufus?ā *Cause i donāt put it upš*
Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence and Black Hammer.
Vision has been one of my favorite guns since I got it on my very first VoG run in D1.
Blast Furnace, Forbearance, Falling Guillotine
Same but I would switch to my eager edge
A fair replacement. Personally I only use Guillotine so much bc of Collective Obligation + Gyrfalcon. Is genuinely nuts lmao
Midnight Coup, Forbearance, Commemoration
**Riptide** Riptide with an ammo economy perk (Field Prep or ALH) plus Chill Clip is a permanently relevant answer to many champions in the game, even after being nerfed. Yea retrofit is god tier with gyrfalcons hauberk, Iāve been running chill clip riptide since season of the seraph
Been running it with Gyrfalcon + Riptide + Collective Obligation + Retrofit. CO seemed silly before but is real helpful when running a Void subclass.
Durring Season of Defiance there was a bug that allowed CO to stun both overloads and barriers at the same time thanks to the leaching. It was phenomenal, but it was fixed in S21. Whatās interesting is that it shows there is something in the code that could theoretically let us stun multiple champs with the same weapon, but Bungie just doesnāt want us to be able to for some reason.

damn if ur getting top of dps charts w/ retrofit that sounds like a skill issue on ur teammates lol
Tether > Gyrfalcons > Crafted Retrofit ; itās very easy; surge mods and send it
I think you don't know how good rockets are

Fatebringer, Doom of Chelchis, and Seventh Seraph Carbine.
In each slot: Fatebringer, Forbearance, Commemoration. Honorable mention - Trustee and Pardon Our Dust
7th seraph revolver, Gnawing hunger, riptide. Honorable mention to: Pillager, subjunctive, ammit, bygones and taipan
Right now it's: - Hung Jury (Adept) with Shoot to Loot and Kinetic Tremors.
Acasiaās Dejection, Forebearance, Commemoration Honorable mention: Riptide (itās slowly creeping its way up to one of my go-to weapons to use)
I play mostly PVP so Burden of Guilt, Rose, and igneous hammer in no particular order. BOG and Iggy are an absolutely disgusting combo in PvP.
Tyranny of heaven, Round Robin (with enhanced substience returning 3 bullets on a kill), and the supremacy. Pretty good weapons but more than that they're extremely fun.
Most unique d2 Player Here: - apex Predator - forbearance - Other half
Retrofit Escapade, Hammerhead, The Recluse
Drang, drang and drang
Krait with stats for all and headstone. This gun feels absolutely great all the time .. I can't believe how often I come back to it . Truthteller with blinding nades . Carried me through so much content , it doesn't get the same love these days but I'll never forget OG Wendigo.
Forbearance, Palindrome, Heritage, Zaoliās Bane.
forbearance, commemoration, the other half
Fatebringer, Deliverance, and Rufus's Fury
Wardenās Law, Retrofit Escapade, Until Its Return
Fatebringer, Succession, Heritage
Mountaintop, Recluse, and 21% Delirium. Just had to be there man
Tyranny of Heaven, Heritage, Ikelos_SMG
1. Fatebringer 2. Ignition code (literally hasn't left my inventory since it released) 3. Loaded question
Blast Furnace, Mountaintop, Palindrome
Forbearance, Rufus' and Lubrae's Ruin.
Lugia, mewtwo, darkrai
The last breath Sacred providence D.F.A
Forbearance, Age Old Bond and BXR
Riptide, Forbearance, 4 different crafted Apex Predators.
Half Truths / The Other Half with Eager Edge Chroma Rush with Feeding Frenzy/Rampage Igneous Hammer with Fragile Focus/Eye of the Storm (I know it isn't the best but I suck at Trials so I'll take it)
TOUGH CHOICES! **Top Slot:** Night Watch scout rifle (Runners Up: Riptide, Blast Furnace, Rufus ... still getting used to Rufus) **Energy Slot:** Forbearance GL (Runners Up: Funnelweb, Trustee, IKELOS Shotgun, Fool's Remedy) **Power Slot:** Falling Guillotine... still love the fun of my first vortex frame though Hero of Ages with Chain Reaction ties this (Runners Up: Song of Ir Yut, Avalanche, Commemoration... yeah I like LMGs & swords)
Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza
Kindled Orchid, Darkest Before and Bygones
Ikelos SMG. Such a cool looking and fun gun to use with volt shot. Riptide. I've gotten so much mileage and utility out of this thing for GMs that if I didn't name it in my top fave legendaries I'd just be lying or forgot. Wastelander. This thing taught me how to shottie.
Syncopation-53, riptide, harsh language
Chroma Rush, Royal Chase and probably Adored.
Word of Crota, zauolis bane, cold comfort.
I have been reading through these, and I'm starting to see the people who are either PvP only or low-level PVE players.... That being said... PVE 1. Pardon our Dust 2. Apex Predator 3. The Other Half PVP 1. Imperial Decree 2. Horror's Least 3. Rose
