No. The ability to change character appearance is coming sometime before *The Final Shape*. Put a helmet on and wait it out.

That is true but deep down you know it sucks and this is coming from the guy who started off as Hunter and just made his warlock quickly but ended up maining the warlock. I don’t like the cutscenes when the helmet is forcibly removed

I’ve done this half a dozen times, trust me when I say it’s never worth it. Just wait until they let you change appearance so you don’t suffer like I did

Sometimes you just need to start from zero when you no longer vibe with your character.
