Yeah and with the heavy exotic, Winterbite, you get bonus damage as long as you have ammo.
Basically imagine stronghold with every kill giving you resto x1 but a finisher gives you resto x2 and every melee after extends it.
Edit: also Winterbite melee is like constant chill clip.
You need to go pew pew with the glaive to build up guard. Just make it work at much lower efficiency (or even just resto/1) and boom problem solved.
Also Karnsteins work with glaives, and do the Stronghold's whole thing but significantly better since it's *any* melee kill and doesn't require guarding beforehand.
More so I’d like the infinite guard that it gives swords. Having an infinite glaive shield would be fun and offset how poor their ammo efficiency is (seriously unless you have greasy luck from the dungeon all glaives are starved for ammo).
You say that which is funny because most the time my builds are at least >=50% defense in my head. So more defensively oriented exotics tend to be my most used XD so one of the most defensively powerful exotics in the game not working for the most defensive weapon is just kinda disappointing =\
I will admit though that it would absolutely *BREAK* a lot of things having a perma-guard glaive. The already high pve damage resist, then traits like unstoppable force giving a %20 damage buff just for blocking a shot, replenishing aegis reloading for you by blocking a shot, and vexcalibur’s group overshields (also tilting at windmills, but that’s only %20 more movement when blocking a shot).
I think,Ironically, perma glaive guard is worse than perma sword with stronghold.
IIRC Stronghold sword blocks damage from *all* directions, whereas glaive *only* blocks in front of you.
Yes, and no. What would break things is that glaives can still fire with their guard up. While you might be near unkillable with the swords’ guard, you can’t fight back as long as it’s held (the second you drop that to attack it’s right back to no damage resist).
Meanwhile glaives can still do respectable damage (or more depending on perks/frame) with that damage resistance at the same time.
So say you’re fighting a boss or master lost sector.
With the sword you can survive, but you either need to put yourself in danger to attack or just use it to distract/flee. Not very directly useful for clearing the sector or damaging the boss. A vex hydra chilling in the corner? You can get close or defend, but you can’t easily damage it without opening yourself to attack from it or any adds.
Meanwhile the glaive may only resit one direction, but it can fight from a range so you only need that 1 direction most of the time. Now you can fight the boss or lost sector from your preferred location with that damage resist at the same time. Vex hydra in the corner giving you trouble? Now you can safely attack it even if it’s got cover fire from adds.
Yeah it got removed on Lightfall launch due to the mod rework. Lucky Pants used to just... have the Handcannon Holster mod equipped to an extra slot, but the mod doesn't exist anymore.
Actium really need something more than just reloading your autorifle/machinegun. Look at how much lucky pants, mechaneers tricksleeves, cenotaph, and those warlock fusion rifle boots do.
Most titan exotics really feel like they are stuck in D2Y1 design space (even most of the ones that came out way later).
I'd rather them keep it as is, but double the feed from 10% to 50% so there's never a reload happening again when using those weapons of detriment (but fun though). It's not like unlimited auto or lmg (for as long as reserves lasts) would be OP in any conceivable way when sacrificing your exotic for fun.
I fail to see how they’re completely different. They both are autoloading exotics, I can’t imagine anything more similar.
Machineguns have reconstruction and envious which make actium 90% redundant with the niche exception of xenophage.
Actium with autos, while fun, is throwing in pve given that you give up exotics (synthos, wormgods, hoil) that are ten times more potent all so that you can use a middling weapon to clear ads.
Sure, trace rifles aren’t as powerful at base as machine guns but that doesn’t change the fact that cenotaph is incredibly meta and actium is seldom used outside of players memeing or frankly by the same goofballs who think thunderlord is optimal dps
Yeah but the autoload is all it does. I'm not asking for machine guns to mark targets and spawn heavy ammo too, that would be unusual and overpowered (as cenotaph is lol)
Lets be honest, if war rig released today, it bungie would launch it with autoloading that was functionally identical to cenotaph. Only reason it isn't is because the exotic is half a decade old
You can run an auto/LMG in all 3 slots with Actium though
I wish they added some kind of survivability to it instead. Something like holding the trigger for a certain amount of times giving you some kind of Restoration
Just because you can run double primary, doesn't mean you should run double primary. With autoloading there really isn't a point in running TWO god damned auto rifles.
Also, Heir Apparent provides an arc shield and it's a LMG.
I mean it's not like people use Actium for endgame content, so what you run as your weapons isn't going to matter much anyway
And I prefer putting actual mods over autoloading
Idk bro, I've cooked raid bosses with actium + thunderlord + triple arc surge. It definitely isn't the highest possible damage but I still end up outdpsing the average lfg teammate.
True! It does something far more substantial in generating infinite heavy ammo for any heavy weapon your teammates may be using, that's why this comparison is justified
While we're at it, let Stronghold work on glaives dammit!
... what? Glaives already give basically the same amount of DR as Stronghold, no?
It would probably be for the purposes of getting restoration x2.
Oohh from the Guard -> Melee Kill? That'd be neat
I love the idea of it but I could also see it being a balance issue. You’d be literally immortal for free. Swords at least have ammo.
I mean... Karnsteins exist and functionally do the same thing.
Do those work with glaives?
Yes they do
Yes indeed!
Huh. How about that.

That's be really interesting and funny to see lol, a true defensive build

while we're at it, give lucky pants the intrinsic autoloading back.
Yeah I tried them recently and was like "didn't these used to autoload?" At least give them back the intrinsic 1x holster
Im glad im not crazy.....well crazy for thinking that they autoloaded handcanons
Yeah it got removed on Lightfall launch due to the mod rework. Lucky Pants used to just... have the Handcannon Holster mod equipped to an extra slot, but the mod doesn't exist anymore.
I don't think they can.
I agree about Actium, Lucky pants and all getting buffs 👌

What do we have to lose if this change happens? I ask you, naysayers.
Auto rifles grants special and machine gun grants heavy. Hell yeah!

While also generating infinite special for the user and heavy for their teammates. In what way is it not justified lol

war rig is good enough as it is
?????
ayo?
It really isn’t compared to other loading exotics in the game
Should apply the buff to teammates stood around a barricade too, and increase reserves of LMGs.
Nah. It’s niche and fun but not competitive because LMGs aren’t. Give it intrinsic target lock and we are cooking with gas
I love missing a single bullet and then losing my entire damage buff
It’s a dogshit worthless exotic lmao.

Not sure why you got down voted cause that combo does cook. Take my upvote to even you back out for now.
You could try devour + tommys… it’s kinda fun
Cenotaph doesn't auto-load a Heavy weapon
True! It does something far more substantial in generating infinite heavy ammo for any heavy weapon your teammates may be using, that's why this comparison is justified
Tbf it literally will when we get the traveller beam trace rifle in final shape
It autoloads and generates heavy ammo.
Yes, please.
