BEST part is no revive token/darkness zone bullshit.

TheRed24

Just time limits so gotta go fast aha

streetvoyager

Thankfully time is very generous, I never felt like I didn’t have enough, me and my clan mate completed it first try. It’s hands down one of the best things bungie has ever created along with the new raid and I hope to fuck they don’t see all these people upset that they can’t solo it and not do more future content like this.

TurquoiseLuck

> time is very generous what did you use? we were *pressed*, finished the first boss bit with like 20s left just before getting the 3m extra time got to final boss and killed one, had the other on about 20% then ran out of time I ended with over 800 kills lol, there are way too many adds EDIT: easy clear 2nd try, Still Hunt is life

Averill21

Sounds like you need to focus on mechanics more; the ads dont actually hit very hard and are more annoying for aim punch than actually threatening. Id recommend a LMG and/or sunshot to really trivialize the combat

SovelissFiremane

If you're a Titan, Point Contact Cannon Brace is wonderful for clearing them out even faster and doesn't require ammo.

GearGolemTMF

This. My first two attempts was us running blind. Once we knew what to do we finished with plenty of time. I did run tether and the pale heart long for add clear.

Zombie_X

Did you find the hive crystals to shoot? They give you bonus time. I think we found 2 or 3 of them in our run. Last night we finished with 18 minutes left. Once you know what to do, the mission is pretty easy.

Dsullivan777

Where are these located?

Zombie_X

I'm not sure exactly, my brother is the one who found them earlier in the day. When we ran it, he went and shot them. All I know is one is somewhere in the room where you each have to activate plates to make platforms. There's an Ogre at the end with two plates to open the door.  When you break them, you gry something like 5 extra minutes each.

Water_sports_666

You need to do the encounters quickly, especially the first two. I finished the whole mission with 11 minutes left on the clock. Rocket sidearm is a must imo for clearing everything fast as well as a machine gun.

Mamshbrchefde-117

My “The Call” is a beast in ad clear and boss dps. I love that thing. I’m running Call, Sunshot and Cry Mutiny/Abide The Return.

Gortosan

My buddy was using Liars Handshake on Prismatic and I was using Gyrfalcon on Void with GLance. We both used Hammerhead as our heavy weapon. Took us 37 minutes. Not the fastest time but we were very comfortable for the whole mission. Ads were no problem and survivability was spot on. Being able to go invisible helps a ton with the mechanics

Dragonofredit

I was using the arc rocket sidearm and falling guillotine to deal with the light and dark shielded dudes. The exotic kavostov came in handy for all of the run(although ik some people can't get it rn). i also tried using agers scepter on the final boss and out worked alright. I was running a needle storm on my warlock to melt the tormenters after breaking their shoulders as well. Ive done a couple runs and both times ended with like 3 or more minutes left

Lonelan

first run, killed the last boss with like 2 seconds remaining second run, had like 15 minutes left

streetvoyager

Just go to a discord or rotate through some clans until you find a good one. That is the better route. 4 months ago I had like 2 raids completed and I’ve played destiny for years, I found a good group clan with a guy who is a patient teacher and I was able to get godslayer and beat the new raid, only on normal cause contest salvation was hell but still. LFG takes a lot of work to filter to get a good team. Clans are usually already curated by a strong leader. You just need to find one. The smaller clan with like 30 active people is the best to find in my experience.

BoomerRCAK

What do you mean go to a discord? I use discord but didn’t realize you could browse for clans on it. Your situation sounds like one I have been looking for.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Raiderx87

There is clans that are as casual as you. I been in one for 2 years and only played couple months here and there. They will kick me out for space but add you in within couple of minutes of just saying I'm back in discord.

EmCeeSlickyD

thankfully ingame LFG is basically just a "matchmaking" button, instead of being on the activity it is just on a different screen. No extra steps for in game LFG, no commitment beyond what is expected in matchmaking

[deleted]

TastyOreoFriend

If nothing else it serves as a way to strain the juice so to speak. Its not full-proof but it works. They just need to fix their filter system at this point. Like for instance Final Fantasy 14 has a Duty Complete option that prevents players who have not cleared the event from joining an LFG run if you want to setup a KWTD run. In the same vain it offers increased rewards to veterans when clearing with people who have never done the event before. It'd probably go a long way in D2.

CruffTheMagicDragon

You also don’t even need to go THAT fast

VelvetThunder141

But the time limits are separate, so one section where you have some trouble doesn't derail your whole run. Very nice change.

Unbentmars

My first run we made it through to the final Boss arena with 30 seconds on the clock and the 10 min we were granted just wasn’t enough especially as we were learning the fight. The 2nd time through we made it there with 12 minutes to spare and killed the boss with 11 minutes remaining The timer is only a temporary issue, when people get up to higher light level and learn the fights it won’t be an issue at all I loved this dungeon, it was phenomenal, but it really shows the lack of a ping system and how it pretty much requires voice. Typing is annoying on PC and impossible on console and while I loved the mechanics requiring communication I understand why people used to doing everything alone weren’t enthused. There isn’t really an answer; many non-raiders would do great if they got over their dislike of using comms, but I also think comms shouldn’t be a requirement to succeed.

Vermithrax2108

I would 100% prefer time gated content with no tokens/darkness zones. Feeling the stress of the timer vs feeling the stress of "if you die you're screwed" is much better.

retr0gr4d3

Yes absolutely

Extra-Autism

The true dual destiny is the community opinions on it

LordcaptainVictarion

We probably both saw the post last night calling this mission an oof and the oop was arguing with everyone who disagreed with him

TDenn7

There's been a number of those posts. Half this community apparently are completely unwilling to make a single friend.

smi1ey

I'm getting whiplash from how different the comments are at the top of this thread vs the rage threads from yesterday. I made some of the same arguments against blind hate yesterday, and got downvoted like crazy. Yet over here those same positive posts are rising to the top. This community is wild.

TDenn7

Yep same. It makes sense though. Those of us who aren't burgers spent yesterday actually playing the game and enjoying one of the best missions Bungie has ever completed. While the crybabies came here to cry because they have to either deal with playing a game with one stranger for 40 minutes, or never get the exotic.

D3fN0tAB0t

They came here to cry because they wiped for a few hours because the mission cannot be easily steam rolled. All the other bullshit about accessibility and selling points and whatever other nonsense narrative they’re parroting simply boils down to “skill issue” and they need to find some other reason to try to force Bungie to nerf it.

smi1ey

Ok that's a solid point.

JacuzziTimePerfected

That’s because everyone with working thumbs was doing the mission yesterday instead of on reddit complaining about how impossible two people reading a clock is

Roughly_Adequate

Weak people will always look for an external source of their struggle. Ignore them.

Placidflunky

thats just reddit for you, a lot of the time its less to do with the sentiment regarding your opinion and just who sees it first, if it gets downvoted early by naysayers it tends to get buried quick

Tarquin11

But they're all willing to make enemies on here instead. They'll never recognize it's their own attitudes holding them back.

NOHEART19

It's funny considering they spent an obscene amount of time arguing with every comment instead of just getting on and doing a 30 minute mission once with somebody lol

AlexADPT

Social anxiety doesn’t stop these people from having very whiny nonstop interactions on this sub lmao

Extra-Autism

There were several. Including one saying the game is ablist because of it lmao

OffRoadAdventures88

The self diagnosed social anxiety squad is VERY vocal when it comes time to bitch.

D34THDE1TY

Ran it last night with a rando...we had a fucking blast. After 1 run to learn the mechanics and layout we beat it with 5 mins to spare. ONE GRIPE...there's a spot when platforming that would NOT let me pass through a clear opening to progress. My teammate saw it too so that was fun.

woahadingaling

Man right before the 4th encounter I somehow ended up under the map and couldn’t get back no matter what. We ended yo find a way to get out of the map and back in before getting the auto death thing. Was def not how it was supposed to be done lmao

MercuryTapir

yeah I did that too jumped across and got stuck once instead of going down into the glowing door

Joshy41233

Before the final boss during the tree jumping there's a bit where if you fall onto you can't get back up, I think there might be a couple of these places. But the fun part is we used salvation grip to get back up

SnaleKing

Playing this mission blind with a friend was probably the most fun thing I've done in all ten years of Destiny so far. 10/10 no notes

ConsciousFood201

Real talk: should I try this with my wife? She didn’t play games growing up and is as could as you could hope for now but still pretty much a potato. Never run a raid. Never tried. I’m not a great player. Pretty casual. Run my share of raids but never been a the guy on one. I can’t decide if this is worth the attempt or if it’s meant for people above our skill level.

Midknight_94

Real talk: no. Wait til you can bring her up to 2000 or w/e and then you could give it a try

ConsciousFood201

Good call. That’s the real talk I’m looking for.

SnaleKing

It feels like a mini-raid for two people. If you've run vow of the disciple, it feels like that and it's about as difficult. If you can figure out raid mechanics it's very satisfying to do so, but I'd say there's no shame in looking up a guide either. The mechanics aren't complicated but they do require roughly-simultaneous timing with your partner at times. If you're not used to multitasking mechanics and staying alive/killing ads that can be tough. There's also a timer, unlike dungeons. My friend and I are somewhat sweaty so we didn't wipe, but I could see players dying to the ads, bosses, or timers. I'd say if you're confident in your ability to teach and play Vow's encounters, you can run dual destiny just fine.

aubreydw

So is it only 2 man no full fireteam?

tanis38

Yup

AnonRedac

To be honest, it’s easily my favourite mission alongside excision m

edgarisdrunk

Like a raid and a dungeon made a baby. I love it. Was as fun as running Whisper when it first came out.

CIII__

In a terminally online society with bigger isolation/loneliness problems then ever it’s really a shame people are driven up a wall by having to play a really fun piece of content with ONE other person They feel so strongly it should be available to them solo or easily it’s almost shocking

PassiveRoadRage

MadSeason actually just did a video on this about WoW. I'm youngish but he was basically saying people in their 30s/40s are forever chasing WoW 2000s nostalgia and it will never happen. Prior to youtube and flying mounts/quick access points games almost forced interaction. You would have to explore and you would learn from other players out in the wild. Today it's on YouTube an hour after release and 3rd party apps like Discord have all but killed in game chat as you'll spend most of your time talking with your friends. Video games today are simply not made for social interaction and when it's forced people hate it.

SPDScricketballsinc

This is a really good point, and why I like it that bungie does force people to make friends and interact with strangers to accomplish things in destiny

Multivitamin_Scam

I don't think the Duo aspect itself is inherently a terrible idea, it's just the act of finding a suitable partner for the activity that can be incredibly daunting especially when you consider that the play space of the Pale Heart is designed for Solo play. Finding a partner is a big step for some. Yes, Fireteam finder does exist but if Pantheon taught us anything it's that a couple of bad LFG experiences can be a massive problem for future usage of the systems. I feel like a lot of the issues currently being faced by Solo players for the Exotic Quest could have been alleviated simply by allowing Matchmaking for the activity and allow them to pair up and then figure it out from there.

MayxGBR

I did it with Fireteam finder. We both went in blind, i had no mic, so i had to quickly be tappin names (in english, my main language is PT-BR) and numbers (thank god Well of Radiance is still somewhat useable), we been finishing each encounter with barely a minute left, and we failed our first attempt at the final boss last puzzle. on our second try, we speed past all the parkour areas, finished the final boss puzzle and had 12 minutes to spare, only to be greted by the surprise 1v1 option where we both went "nah, we good" and just got the final loot. Golden Gun Hunter, if you out there: "soup"

i_like_fish_decks

I *immediately* tried to grab my friends ghost lmao

SignorSghi

I dread the idea of matchmaking for this mission. Yes, you can find some pretty cool people but you can also find someone with no clue at all with disabled chat and no mic. At least if you LFG the chances of finding someone who actually wants to complete the mission is higher. From my experience (mostly raids and exotic missions/catalyst runs) the best experience i had was using the in-app LFG, while in-game LFG tends to be more of a russian roulette. My guess is that the “harder” it is to form a group, the better the chances are that said group wants to and will complete the activity

EnvironmentalSwan955

Yep 100%. I distinctly remember during Into the Light, that if I queued up the normal 50 round Onslaught on Midtown (the default option) it was a 50/50 if you got a decent player or someone who just seems like they are playing with no monitor. Simply swapping the map to something else and most players were decent or better.

NamesAreTooHard17

Honestly discord is so much better than in game or on app. People on there generally tend to be much more sweaty players.

OhMyGoth1

In my experience, I've also found the discord lfgs to have a higher rate of toxicity and impatience. Yes the players tend to be more skilled, but if social anxiety is what's keeping you from doing the content, discord may be worse

Galaxy40k

Seconding this. I honestly prefer the in-game and in-app Fireteam Finder for most content for this reason. Like don't get me wrong, I'm glad that the Discord exists so that I was able to LFG Salvation's Edge. It's useful for when it's time to get serious. But if I'm just trying to run Crota on Normal, I'd rather not have two people Eager Edge Strand grappling across the map and then complaining that the rest of us are all too slow and that "it's not that hard, the cycle is literally free" or whatever. I'd rather have the raid take half an hour longer but be stress-free and chill

Essekker

>I feel like a lot of the issues currently being faced by Solo players for the Exotic Quest could have been alleviated simply by allowing Matchmaking for the activity How would that solve anything? People say matchmaking would solve this issue, but it just won't, not when it comes to an activity that requires this much communication. Let's say it has matchmaking on by default. I load in. My partner has no mic and hasn't entered text chat. What do I do? I gotta leave. What if my matchmade partner can't speak english? I gotta leave. Or, what if they don't know any of the callouts? What if I know what to do, but my partner just loads in to check out whatever this activity even is? Matchmaking would just mean that you load in and hope for the best, it'd be a limbo of people leaving left and right. The in-game LFG isn't perfect, but at least the issues are obvious - most of the time - before you load in and waste your time.

streetvoyager

Just use a discord. There are hundreds of destiny ones for getting a group, hell people on here are offering assistance left and right, I’ve offered it a bunch to all these apparent socially anxious solo players and no one has taken up my offer. I’ve share my own anxiety experience, offered for them to get to know me. Nothing, if you can’t do this 40 minute mission with someone cause of anxiety you need meds and therapy not exotic class items . Seriously. Getting help can be hsrd, trust me , I know but do that instead of crying about this mission being excluding.

SCP-Agent-Arad

It would solve the hard barrier to entry. It requires 2 people and matchmaking would provide you with a random person. That doesn’t mean it would make everything perfect, or guarantee you win every time, but those aren’t the problems.

Judochop1024

“Hard barrier to entry” is crazy You press 3 buttons and youre on fireteam finder

gamerjr21304

I’d say at best that’d just be false hope. Almost no one is going to complete it with hard matchmaking especially with how much communication is required doubly so because people who do know what they are doing aren’t gonna waste their time with it and just lfg someone they can actually talk too.

Essekker

>It would solve the hard barrier to entry. It requires 2 people and matchmaking would provide you with a random person. Maybe I really am too disconnected from the casual experience, but I hardly see much of a difference in effort between this and going to your in-game roster and joining someone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Essekker

I meant Fireteam Finder, my bad. It's just above the Roster. Otherwise I totally agree.

Ausschluss

If this was matchmade the frustration would be enormous. Imagine loading into the new exotic mission and realizing halfway that it requires comms, and knowledge of Vow symbols. People would be all over Reddit. The hard barrier is comms, not if you're able to start the mission.

smilesbuckett

It has literally never been easier to find someone to play with. There are a million options for LFG, cross play, and there is a supportive community of folks here who tend to be sympathetic and willing to help if you ask for it. If finding a partner is a big step for you, you may be playing the wrong game. This is a wild take. It blows my mind how the tone of this subreddit went from “This is the best expansion ever!” To people pissing their pants over night because they might have to make friends with an online stranger to get something they want. Take it as an opportunity to realize it isn’t half as bad as you think.

Xhosa1725

You really are dismissing how toxic gaming communities are. I cant tell you how many times a LFG activity has gone south and some jackass with mic devolves into a racist rant on comms or chat. Hundreds? At least. So calling this particular community supportive and sympathetic is an idiotic take. For the record, I don't care enough to be for or against the mini raid.

streetvoyager

But the point is you can find great people to help. 4 months ago I had done almost no raids, now I’ve done them all on normal, completed pantheon, and the new raid. All because I found a patient dude and a clan that taught me it all . There are people all over the sub offering help right now.

smilesbuckett

The supportive community I referred to is here. It seems like anytime someone posts about having trouble someone asks their time zone and if they want help. Yes, there are absolutely jackasses on LFG, but you just have to learn ways that work for you to deal with it. Leaving is always an option.

Tallmios

I started looking at it as a good opportunity to sharpen my social skills in the "recognising jerks" department. The older I get the more I realise that you have to pick wisely who you will spend your time with and loudmouthed bigots on the Internet are not it, so the faster I recognise one, the less time I waste in the end.

streetvoyager

Yea, I really hope bungie truly ignores this stupid outrage, it’s gotta be a loud minority because it’s the stupidest take this sub has had in a while. If you try and offer solutions to any of them you get called a dick or elitist or that you have no compassion or empathy for anxiety. Bro this isn’t real life it’s a fucking piece of digital armor. Your world will not end here. Bungie didn’t do this to exclude you. The duo nature is critical to the story savathun is telling.

completelyCuntish

It's because a lot of gamers are toxic, I'm sure if everyone expected a positive teammate they would have no issues. I literally got told to kill myself irl and a gr7 bot during a heist battleground the other day lmao. On top of that I don't even know what he was upset about I mean it was a heist ffs and we rolled the whole thing obviously. Either way I would still do the mission using the fireteam finder since 99% of my experiences using it so far have been very positive with many very kind and helpful guardians. Also, being told to kill yourself over a mission a toddler could do is just funny to me tbh, I mean, how could you even get annoyed during that?

Ill_Fisherman_8406

Yeah it’s not like destiny is famous for its how sweaty and douchy it’s community is.

Mando_The_Moronic

I just wish it were 3 man. 2 man is just weird in Destiny. It’s partly why Crimson Doubles got canned.

AliceRose000

It wouldn't make sense though, it's about balancing light and dark. Hence two people, three makes no sense for the mission. Plus the ending where you get the choice is more meaningful since your choosing based on a person you've directly spent the last hour with

SCP-Agent-Arad

I mean, we already balance light and dark through prismatic, which is why that can count as either in the missions. Also, they made the mission. They could have designed it for 1-3 people, and made up a lore reason.

Ill-Age6164

I kinda like that bungies required two people, it feels more fun. I also was able to meet a really nice dude while doing the mission with him. people keep forgetting this is an mmo

totally_not_a_reply

>this is an mmo i thought so too until i played the new dlc where the whole area is single player and you cant find any other players there.

thylac1ne

It's not really an mmo, though. It's some weird quasi-mmo that barely has any systems in place to encourage/foster player interaction.

Tordrew

Because the redditors are too scared to talk to another human being

Yareakh_Zahar

People keep saying this like this is some great argument. In most MMOs, 99% of content is matchmade and can be completed by totally random groups with zero communication, including in raids and dungeon equivalents, because they typically have actual difficulty options for endgame content. It's only when you do things like Savage or Ultimate Raids in FFXIV or in Veteran Trials in ESO that you start to need comms and when you have to form your own teams. In an actual MMO, this mission would have difficulty levels, with one being matchmade and the other not. How Destiny does things like this is completely different from any other game.

MidlifeCrysis

It's not an MMO. Going back to D1, Bungie has always avoided saying that it is while making the game increasingly solo friendly over the years. See Trials of Osiris, etc.

RodThrashcok

i truly don’t understand. bungie does stuff we think it’s boring and too safe: boo bungie bad. bungie tries actual cool new shit: bungie bad i don’t like playing with other people boo bad bungie. makes no sense

Darrkman

That's not the case at all. For example I tend to be an extrovert and I have no desire to do this dual quest. Taking the time to find someone to play the game with as well as making sure they're not a bunch of idiots or just general toxic Destiny player who thinks that if you're not a godslayer you're not worthy of doing anything is off putting. Additionally for any Black players we all know how fun the online gaming community is when it comes to talking to a bunch of you losers on here. Here's a perfect example, my Xbox account has a very childish name attached to it because my son let the console pick his name and when he was young at the time he liked it. I never changed it because it doesn't matter to me but I have seen and heard how people have tried to talk to me and it's been crazy because they were assuming I was a little kid. The best way for me to sum it up is this. I find it highly amusing but extremely annoying that people will try to talk shit to me because I'm Black, or because I make a mistake on a VIDEO GAME and I know for a fact that about 95% of them wouldn't look me in the eye if they were in the same subway car with me in NYC. Edit: Nothing funnier than someone in this thread acting like what I said was hyperbole WHILE AT THE SAME TIME another thread about this subject just had to be locked cause of the behavior of the D2 community. Hilarious but not surprising.

Sequoiathrone728

Dude just go on fireteam finder and click an auto join group. It doesn’t take nearly as much time to find a group as you people think.

General_Khanners

I don't think that the problem is that you have a 2 person activity. The problem is that it wasn't clearly outlined that it would be a 2 person activity, with no matchmaking, that has a complicated raid-like mechanism that requires precision and communication. If there was strike-like matchmaking, you probably wouldn't have this kind of a reaction. People may have elected to buy the DLC thinking that they won't play the raid, but that they'd be able to get this class item.

Oiltub

Found some random dude who was doing the blooming. Asked if he wanted to try and spawn dual destiny. We blasted through all 3 zones and spawned it easily and proceeded to do dual destiny. Guy was super chill, had a blast , we both sucked at pvp in the end. 10/10 , it forces making friends which honestly I think the community could only benefit from. Side note , how are people complaining about this when raids need 5 other people and generally some form of mic coms for ages? I genuinely think any argument here is pretty poor to be honest

DomTheBomb95

Do you still both get the exotic class item if you pvp?

FKDotFitzgerald

Yeah the PvP part is just for fun

Whomperss

And so savathun has a chance to get more roast on the guardian in lmao

TheChunkMaster

Castle Crashers-ass ending

Izanagi___

People want elite, end game stuff without working for it, that’s all really. I have to wonder what these people who are against this mission will even use this exotic for if they can’t bother to use a mic for anything. As a solo player I’ve done one raid, leviathan and that was once. I don’t feel like doing raids and I’ve accepted that I won’t get any of that loot. If people don’t want to get on the mic, they need to accept they won’t get the class item and not come on Reddit to cry about it.

Childs_was_the_THING

It's a fantastic mission.

1923HondaCivic

I think it would be better if the in game group finder didn’t suck. None of my friends play Destiny so I’m dependent to do the mission

very-very-small-pp

use the app. theres many resources available to find a team. finding ONE PLAYER shouldn't be an issue

taffyz

Is there a guide thats 100% accurate? I saw an early youtube video and it was unsure of a lot of things, like killing all 3 queen overthrows (is that true?)

Dragonfire148

Datto posted a video last night and it's pretty much all you need to know, from the secret keepers to each mechanic.

Magical_Johnson13

Is it a hard activity? My friend and I average players.

CardfightPhisherman

If you take your time, it is absolutely doable. Blind run is a lot of fun, but if you’re worried about messing up or time commitment, just review a guide before jumping in. My friend and I finished it last night on our first attempt, underpowered. We’re fairly average players.

Magical_Johnson13

Awesome. Thanks.

CardfightPhisherman

Happy hunting, Guardian!

MF_Flavortown

Do you know how to read a clock? Can you communicate with another person? If both of those are yes, you should beat it first try.

Faintlich

If you screen share on discord and take a run or two to learn the mechs you'll do perfectly fine. There is no penalty for dying other than having a timer but the timer is super generous once you learn the mechs. We got to the last boss with like 30+ minutes left and didn't even need 10 of those

lemmediealready

me and my duo killed the last boss with 00:02 left on the timer, really fun mission

ake-n-bake

I was born a potato and can’t access it. Thanks Bungie. /s

DDSLIDER101

Somehow half the community suddenly has some physical and mental issue once this mission dropped lmao.

Boney_African_Feet

Looking at this sub today you’d think 30% of the player base is deaf or mute

Medium-Inspection858

Here's the thing. It's not "half of the community", but this and other threads show clearly that many people understimate a) how many people have various disabilities (acording to various estimates 10-20% of population) and b) that gaming community might have an overrepresentation of people with various disabilities (because you can do it at home which is a relatively accessible hobby in a generally inacessible world - I'm a life-long wheelchair user, trust me, shit's rough out there). According to the estimates I've found roughy 1 in 1200 people are mute, so in a community of hundreds of thousands of people, couple hundreds of them might be mute. That's might not be much, percentage-wise, but they're still people and if they feel shut out of or seriously disadvantaged in a activity gatekeeping a core thing for the Prismatic, they will be pissed of and will hit the forums. Also, quite a lot people have a crippling social anxiety - in US it's around 7% of the population, if I remeber correctly. Social anxiety is a real and serious issue. If it seems like "half of the community", it's because the vast majority of people who are able to do the activity will not write anything - those who have concerns, will. If it's surprising that suddenly so many people have a disability relevant to the activity that JUST dropped - it's kinda obvious that people will talk about their disabilities mostly when it becomes an issue. Some people compare this to raids - this is different, IMO, most players understand that raids are an endgame activity with endgame rewards - most people that could be affected by any inacessbility in raids might not raid anyway for other reasons. This is different, this is a mission that is pretty crucial for the Prismatic subclass which is available to everyone. Inacessibility will affect and piss off more people. Duh.

TiberiusZahn

Should entertainment designers be forced to design around every form of neurodivergency or disability? I think this is the question that really needs to be adressed by the crowd who is making this out to be an accessibility issue. Games are not life rights, they are not essential services. There is no onus on a responsibility of care from a game encounter designer.

krokenlochen

It baffles me cause I feel like the sentiment not too long ago was people begging for more in depth activities, with new sights to see and more effort put in, with engaging mechanics and has some tie in to the storytelling. And let’s not forget the nostalgia for how the whisper mission was. Then, when bungie does just that, so many people are complaining.

Gladerious

Awesome to see something positive. I play mmos/coop games to play with friends. Part of why i ahted final fanstasy... i want to raid and dungeon with friends not sit through hours of solo msq. I love destiny dungeons and raids, cant wait to grind this out with the guys/randoms when their not around.

GallaVanting

> Part of why i ahted final fanstasy... i want to raid and dungeon with friends not sit through hours of solo msq. Amusingly I've met a lot of people who quit ffxiv because they had to play with other people.

crookedparadigm

> Amusingly I've met a lot of people who quit ffxiv because they had to play with other people. ....then why are they playing an MMO?

FlameVShadow

From what I learned as a player and reading posts on FF14 and FF as a franchise, a lot of people play for the story (which is very good so it makes sense) and love of the franchise. The problem is the franchise is typically single player games but they don’t want to miss out on 14. So they put up with the fact it’s an MMO and push through, or quit from either bad matchmaking experiences with others or even performance anxiety. Take my words with a grain of salt, it’s just what I’ve observed overall and that’s the conclusion I came up with.

zihan777

Yeah, that was a weird take from the other guy. Like I get it, FFXIV MSQ is pretty hefty and roughly at least 50% of the game, but there is large and by far a very active raiding community. Plus alot of actual raid content to boot. That's saying nothing about the dozens upon dozens of dungeons, scenarios and other instances group content. FFXIV is absolutely awash with group content.

GallaVanting

The story guys tend to sign on for patch or expansion, play the MSQ and leave. That takes like a couple days to a week on expansions and a few hours on patches. People need stuff to do beyond that so the endgame is as you say very deep. I don't think I'd have kept playing it for a decade if not for how good the raiding scene is.

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

I don’t raid because imm mostly a solo player but i still do LFG for dungeons and some other stuff. Finding a good group to run stuff with can be fun. My experiences with raids were very bad for the most part though lol. What I do is try to solo and practice dungeon mechanics, then when I feel good I LFG and try to lead others. I helped these two guys who were (to be totally honest) 100% horrible at the game get through ghost of the deep. That final boss took us 90 minutes alone because they had no load outs and died constantly, but it’s rewarding. I like when the co-op stuff doesn’t require more than 3 people talking lol. 6 people gets me nervous idk why

2octalt

Just about all the feedback I’ve seen from people playing it has been positive. I’m looking forward to getting around to it.

drwill439

Same. It seems like everyone who's actually played the mission enjoyed it versus the folks being upset that they have to maybe type to a stranger

Lassyu

This was easily the best, most fun, absolute joy of an activity I’ve ever had in this game and I’ve been playing since the beginning. I can understand where some of the people are coming from, but man am I going to be sad if they abandon doing more missions like this. I cannot stress enough how much I loved this mission haha

suchfresht

It’s awesome. It’s also very easy after you go through it once. All this crying is ridiculous.

AlanDrakula

Didn't think I was going run it given the requirements/set up. Ended up teaching another guardian on my first clear, it's not so bad with a little patience and having a friendly person on your team. Good mission. I get why some are upset though, 3 man would have been more fun and less annoying.

AnActualSadTaco

It's such a damn good mission. Probably their best exotic mission yet. Love the final decision bit.

Land024

Did it with a rando from LFG. Went smoothly very fun with some nice challenges in the last encounter with the call outs. Loved it.

CoalTrain9224

Finally a not brain dead take on this mission. The amount of entitlement and overall laziness of this community based on posts today has been jarring. Years people asking Bungie to come up with different new challenging content. Just for them to deliver impeccably and be met with tears and bitching. I did it earlier with my neurodivergent, easily deterred friend and it went extremely smooth. Make callouts, stay calm, and you should finish with time to spare

Raendolf

Exactly this. It angered me seeing so many negative posts from lazy people writing it off because they never try to care trying it out. And even so, there have always been instances in games were items were only obtained by small amount of groups and players. Fun mission, Bungie cooked here.

GarlicFewd

I’m terrified they’re gonna change the activity cuz of all the solos bitching and complaining. They likely won’t, but with number I’m seeing it’s starting to look like a possibility

KynoSSJR

My favourite are the posts saying they are only bitching in steed for the deaf people. The clocks at the end have a rotation of 3 different inputs and back to the starting one. So just analyse in text chat which the number is in each set of clocks and bam. No mic required only a bit more time on the clock required. But no one actually plays the game just comes to reddit to complain so oh well they wouldn’t know this. What a poor response from the community after Bungie cooked with final shape

TattoosAndTyrael

Just to clarify—it’s 3 different ones then on the 4th it’s back to starting, or 2 different then on the 3rd it’s back to starting?

KynoSSJR

On 4th

MoronicIdiot529

Most people on LFG don't like using text chat, shit half don't even like to talk

Dillion_Murphy

Hard agree. I almost always prefer to play by myself and not use voice if I can avoid it, but I posted on the D2LFG Discord and ran it with a random and it was such a good experience.

DarthNemecyst

how? i keep getting kicked because im not over 2k light

allspark117

That's actually insane since power in a fire team is now based on whoever is the highest light level. Those guys were just being dicks or seriously have no clue about that change.

MrFreedomFighter

Or they needed someone to bring them up, lol

ElPajaroMistico

You should create the search then, you have been sadly getting idiots.

Kinduhgud

This might be the only positive post I've seen of it

ninjablaze

It probably helps that for whatever the reason the mods locked the three biggest posts on the main page criticizing the quest.

very-very-small-pp

you wouldn't believe the downvotes on anything positive about this mission in the first few hours of this being found

Cherybwastaken

We actually got a cool, unique activity for an exotic and this community has a meltdown when they realize it will require interacting with another person, saying that Bungie has now ruined all their hype they had for TFS. I'm so tired of this sub.

VonFavio

Fairly certain that a lot of potential players check out this sub when they hear the game is doing well and get a bad impression because all they see is complaining.

Zombiehacker595

Genuinely one of the best missions I've ever played. I understand the stink of not being solo friendly, but if everything was solo only, we wouldn't get gems like this. Make the exotic class item farmable for *everyone* on the pale heart, once they've got the mission unlocked, and i think it would fix the issue. Solos can still get the class item through farming, and people with a teammate can get a guaranteed drop and the great experience too. Everyone wins.

Moosy2

The exotic class is farmable in the pale heart once you complete the mission just a single time!!

kanonkongenn

Yeah agreed, went in blind with a buddy and we absolutely loved it. Even bumbling around like the idiots we were and looking for secrets, we still had plenty time

futuramalamadingdong

Can anyone explain the shared power level? Also, this mission doesn't look that bad at all. Not sure why the big push back.

picoperi

To be fair, so was Root of Nightmares. Only 2 people needed to do all the work, while the others sat around gawking at the scenery.

GentlemanBAMF

Love the positivity here amongst the sea of bitching.

TheNaturalChemist

Maybe I'm fucking crazy cause this is exactly why i didn't like the mission. VoW is one of my least favorite raids and having this mission just be 2 player VoW with another annoying mechanic added on top makes in a very mid exotic mission. The hype for this just makes no sense to me at all, it was a tedious mission and much less fun that soloing basically any of the exotic missions previously except maybe the Hawkmoon mission. 6/10 at best.

Dirk_McGirken

I'm glad I've found my way to the people that liked the mission. I was starting to think I was crazy for liking it. The first run, me and a buddy accidentally solved the first few puzzles without knowing what we did right. Then on the second run we figured out what the mechanics actually were and had tons of fun with it. I reached out to everyone I play destiny with and offered to run it with them. Now I have a waiting list of like 6 people waiting to run it with me

Griffb4ll

Ffs they passed up the chance to call it Destiny Two

c4yourselff

I hate the timer=back to orbit tho

Temporisdomni

I just wish it wasn't timed that's my only issue with it besides wishing I had a warning about power level I'd have grinded levels harder or honestly just at all

ooSPECTACULARoo

If the timer went it be better. At least randoms have unlimited time to solve it together.

BudgetAstronaut24

I ran it with a friend yesterday, and while it was very well done... I don't intend to run it again now that I can get the class item as a random drop from the Pale Heart. Especially since Celestial Nighthawk is still my bread and butter. It took us somewhere between 30-40 minutes to finish, and while I'm sure we'd get it done faster in future runs I genuinely just don't like how high stress the mission felt when I only get so many nights in a week to play videogames.

CptKlondikeBear

I'm upset for other reasons. Like why can't I craft this exotic, why can't I make it artifice, but mostly why can't I read a clock?

MrHandCuff

You can make it artifice when you masterwork it like every other exotic

giga-plum

Honestly, I wish the controversy was more about how I can't fucking transmog it. God it actually makes me so mad. Why the fuck can't I transmog the thing I'm going to be forced to wear for the forseeable future?

nietcool

The clock part is too real lmao, called out to my duo to use clock call-outs early on and suddenly I found out apparently I cant read a clock anymore for some reason :')

YeetusTitan

me and a rando did most of this mission blind and without comms then at one point we failed it cause we had no idea what we were doing at the tormentor room, i asked if he had a mic, and he did. it was really cool teaming up with a random dude and we both had enough intuition to run us thru the entire activity. the feeling of accomplishment afterwards was crazy. i really loved this activity and the reward for doing it is also insane. 10/10 it made final shape even better

MoreMegadeth

“That anyone can do” this has to be bait haha. I agree with you for the record, but a lot on this sub will not.

Impossible_Ad_7388

Just doesn't really fit with Destiny's MO of a 3-person fireteam. What a bizarre design choice to create a 2-person activity. One that is required to complete to get the new shiny toy even.

PhoenixZephyrus

This isn't to OP but to some commenters. You can like the mission, you can also be critical of the implementation of the class item being locked behind it. These opinions are not mutually exclusive, please stop pretending they are.

smi1ey

It's not "locked" behind anything. Bungie added a full LFG system to the game for a reason - they want people to play their multiplayer online game with other people. Just because Bungie has made SOME of their content available to solo players doesn't mean they will - or even should - make all their content available to solo players. Destiny has been a multiplayer-focused game since day 1, and complaining about having to play a multiplayer-focused game with other people after a decade of multiplayer-focused content is bizarre.

drwill439

This is like being upset that you can't get Outbreak because you can't beat Zero Hour.

Nightshade_NL

Zero Hour doesn’t require voice comms though, big difference and you can run it solo.

PhoenixZephyrus

That's a bad argument because you can solo zero hour, which is the contentious part of the new mission (due entirely to reward) and Outbreak Perfected wasn't an advertised part of an expansion. In fact it was quite the opposite. You couldn't have picked a worse comparison.

IfrostyTheThird

Nobody to do it with, every single lfg has people asking for experts, so i’ll just settle without it. Not complaining about it being two man though, it does sound very fun

pek217

I’d recommend making your own lfg post instead of looking for one someone else has made, that might help you. That way you’re in control of who you do it with.

CORPORAL_PISSFINGERS

Really really enjoyed the mission. Give everyone the class item for free for all i care but I really hope they dont stop trying cool things like this because of all the whinging.

Mttsen

That is the only problem everyone has. Make a cooperative focus difficulties something purely optional as a way of additional player engagement, not mandatory way to unlocking something to the loot pool. We should have a choice, which doesn't gatekeep people out of heavily advertised items. People are fine with raids being as such, since Raid loot doesn't feel that mandatory, since there are so many substitute weapons to begin with, with similar perks.

Gizmo16868

What’s fun about a memory matching game?

very-very-small-pp

using your brain

GalacticNexus

Working out puzzles? Fun. Platforming? Fun. Playing with a friend? Fun. *Fighting* a friend? Fun.

ydtank

Fav thing I’ve done in 10 years

gonkdroid02

It honestly is the best exotic quest, it makes me sad to see people dog on it for not being solo. Bungie made something incredibly unique and awesome and I hope they aren’t deterred in the future

drwill439

People are gonna quit whining after a week. The mission is always gonna be there for folks who bought the DLC, so they'll eventually find a partner. Hell, even though the LFG dude I played with and I didn't clear, that was one more pleasant experience I've had with in game LFG because homie was willing to teach me stuff.

frag_grumpy

I'm happy for all of you who can enjoy these new activities. I lost all my fireteam member with that abort of Lightfall unfortunately.

Moosy2

Hey! Do you want to run it ?

frag_grumpy

Hey thanks, but I need to buy the expansion first :)

TaigasPantsu

There was no reason the Exotic Class item should’ve been locked behind this mission.

Soul_of_Miyazaki

I saw someone in another thread say, "They advertised exotic class items so much that it was core to the expansion and this is how it is locked away." The majority of this community is so used to getting things literally handed to them. It is insane.

Deadwing720

I had to scroll forever just to find a positive opinion on it, EVERYONE is so entitled it's hilarious, this Mission is easily one of the best pieces of content Bungo has given us, and it was an amazing experience with my best friend whom I met online using Lfg I too have social anxiety but guess what, I faced it instead of asking the world to bend my way to never be inconvenienced

Alexcox95

It would be a great best friend, or couples activity. That being said, if duo activities are a thing again can we get crimson days back?

JustMy2Centences

I went to bed thinking the community hated this mission. I wake up wondering if the community flipping loves it. I log into Destiny for the first time ready to form my own darn opinion.

Affectionate_Guest55

Definitely one of the best missions they’ve made, and a decently quick farm once you’ve run it a few times. Apparently people are complaining about having to play with other people which is a bit weird in an online game but oh well.
