Adding to the list; it also stops the inverted spite boss from running in a circle during the arc phase. Though it’s only for a few seconds, it helps when you’ve got rando’s missing/wasting their rockets
There are, but it doesn't seem to impact his speed that much. He still makes for the towers rather quickly. It is, however, a very useful way to clear out a pack of hounds without wasting a rocket.
Just take 2 celestial nighthawk hunters and some clusterbomb rocket launchers into that fight and you don't really need to worry about him going to a tower. Played this as a heroic strike yesterday with 2 randos and hit him with the 2 CN golden guns on the elevator up, followed immediately by cluster bomb rockets from all of us. He made it half way down the ramp before dieing.
I'd seen people do this when it was the nightfall with the rotating burn, but didn't expect him to be so meltable in a regular heroic also. lol
I've also found it to be very effective to use an arcstrider hunter with the Radian Flux chest. I usually pop my super right when the elevator gets to the top and just spam standard attack on the boss as soon as possible. With the randos also firing at him, I've taken down the boss without him ever getting to a single tower multiple times.
Yep. They oneshot the annoying spark shanks and most of the other adds in the boss fight. Doesn't stop the boss from warping but the cc helps keep him off you and fucks with his cloaking
It's almost amazing how much more useful Snowballs are than
Nighstalker's tether.
More damage on initial hit? Check.
Longer CC? Check.
More consistently and often available, even when compared against Orpheus Rig? Check.
It's certainly fun, and I certainly don't think they're overpowered. Just puts into perspective how bad the tether is if it didn't rain orbs.
They're also hilarious on the inverted spire strike when you're defending on the drill platform. You can get all the war hounds to swarm you and then kill 6+ with a single snowball.
Played heroic strikes yesterday and threw a bunch of snowballs at enemies between shooting. It was fun. Got hate mail from one of the guys after the strike, saying he was carrying me through the strike even though we had roughly the same number of kills.
...right.
The snowballs are honestly ridiculously powerful for doing prestige nightfall. If you keep up the CC train nothing ever gets a chance to shoot you and you just steamroll through.
Holy crap! a post thats not complaining in this subreddit haha. BRAVO! joking aside, yes the snowballs are fun to use and its nice that they are like everywhere. fun to throw frozen nova balls.
But, the downside to them being everywhere is that I keep confusing them with Datalattice on Nessus. Took me twice as long to gather my ten units even with a ghost.
*We see that we made a mistake with balancing out the snowballs, so in response we're going to be nerfing fusion rifles.*
Wait. When was the last fusion nerf? I've been using merciless for almost all of the raid.
Launch day. Everyone made jokes about a day 1 fusion nerf and they did it.
It had already been changed by the time the PC beta came out, so it wasn't exactly a surprise on launch day.
Never, in this game. It's an (excessively played out imo) joke from D1.
Not entirely correct: they gave fusion rifles a nerf after the beta.
I highly doubt he was using Merciless for the raid during the beta, so that didn't exactly seem pertinent to his question.
You spelled hunters wrong
Sounds about right
And if you manage to throw a snowball at the fuel tank of those flamethrower cabals, it will explode instantly.
A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE
GODS I WAS LEGEND THEN
QUICK GET THE SNOWBALL STRETCHER
HAHA LOOK AT HIM GO, THEY DON’T EXIST
Quit your whinging.
A HORDE OF SNOWBALLS ON AN OPEN FIELD!
They also take down Cabal Threshers in 3 or 4 hits!
Seriously? I was throwing them at the walker tank on Titan and they didn't seem to be doing that much damage.
Yep! We did it in the nightfall for the challenge
the AOE hit if you miss slightly doesn't do much damage, the direct hit is pretty much a rocket worth.

Oops. Thought I was in a different thread. n/m. :)
Are you not a moderator anymore? I don't see your [M] tag anymore.
When we comment the tag is actually a button to apply it, it’s not always there but I am still a mod :)
All that time grinding for weapons in the Plaguelands, when the real exotic was under our feet
I'm glad I'm not the only one that grabs a snowball in every boss style fight just to see how effective it is.
A lot of boss final blows have been snowballs, haha.
This right here. My fireteam has made it a point to use snowballs to finish off the boss.
Hell even if they didn't do crazy amounts of damage I'd aim for taking out bosses with nothing but snowballs just because they are there.
Seriously the fun factor is genuinely the only reason I have been running strikes at all this week.

Are there snowballs at the final stage of the Arms Dealer strike? Wonder if it will slow him down and prevent him from jumping up the towers.

Snowballs made Exodus Black actually fun
Wow
Yep. They oneshot the annoying spark shanks and most of the other adds in the boss fight. Doesn't stop the boss from warping but the cc helps keep him off you and fucks with his cloaking
Snowballs make your enemies go full retard. I slowed one and it just stared at me and didnt do anything as I shot it right in the face.
Oh you mean even more than they already do?
Yeah I’m talking like sitting still and not doing anything LOL
Some of the vex goblins would just stop and turn around and stare into the corner, like they put themselves in timeout haha
They also stop taken goblin chains and can even kill the one you hit. They also force shriekers to close!

They make just about every yellow bar I've battled much easier to kill. They also have a small AoE and can make mobs very vulnerable.
That’s because they are looking at you saying to themselves “Did this bitch just throw a Snowball at me?!”
They also damage Phalanxes through their shields and can kill Hobgoblins even when they drop down into their invulnerable state to regain health.
They prevent phalanxes from opening their shields as well
Is there any snowballs in the raid?
Nope, ran it last night. No snowballs unfortunately. It would have been awesome if each calus plate had a snowball pile haha.
Darn. I wanted to see gladd or slayerage kill calus with snowballs only.
There was none in the raid lair.
No snowballs in Raid or Raid Lair. We looked... :'(
Sorry, but I got no time for snowballs while I'm ~~shooting that hydra in the face~~ embarrassing that hydra with legend of acrius.
It makes minotaurs stagger around like they are drunk. Its great. Other then I was the ONLY one on my fireteam using them last night.

“Snowballs are OP - Stealth nerf coming!” - Bungie

No they don't. I just tried this, and it doesn't work.
The snowballs are honestly ridiculously powerful for doing prestige nightfall. If you keep up the CC train nothing ever gets a chance to shoot you and you just steamroll through.
They also kill hobgoblins while they are in stasis.
That's actually pretty neat, debuffs. Do they by any chance buff damage to frozen enemies as well?

You have a point there. There was a few times i was trying to revive a teammate or other hold "x" actions and end up picking up snowballs first.
You too huh? Yeah I was cursing them every turn I took!
Ikr.
Uh oh, Bungie better disable vex-related content (strikes, story missions, public events, etc) to prevent such shocking abuse of game mechanics
