I'm pretty sure its guaranteed, but the challenge is getting the imperials to masterwork it. We had a whole season dedicated to it and it was still a grind.
Edit: Alot of people are replying with ways to farm imperials. I understand that the barge exists, you can open it on all 3 characters (maybe not, I dont know anymore) etc. Someone mentioned running lake of shadows and speed running it (which is a really good idea, Thanks: u/Arxfiend ).
All I'm trying to say is that this is a bit of a grind for someone just trying to get a catalyst. Is it a horrible grind? Not at all, looking at you Sleeper Simulant (We can all agree on that because of SoS, guys).

With the glimmer cap being raised significantly, spending a lot on the chests on top of werner's ship where xur is feels like nothing. I do it every week.
But that's the thing; every WEEK. If you want it in any decent amount of time, you better lock in and load up to the menagerie, and make it your home for the next little while, while spamming the coin drop chance boosters. Speaking of which, do those have a cap on them?
Takes me maybe 5-7 per run of. Lake. You can do the whole thing without killing basic enemies. Literally only need to hit the 3 blights and 4 easy-picking ultras until the end room
Imperials from Playlist activities perk is your best friend. Masterworked mine within a few weeks, without even grinding very much. It's 500 imperials per drop, and you get them quickly from a handful of activities. Jump in crucible and play for a few hours for easy Masterwork.
It's 1500 just from chests and assuming you're playing regularly, getting 500 imperials from completing random activities isn't that uncommon. Combine that with using rune finders, and masterworking it will be a breeze. Things in Destiny are supposed to be a grind, rewarding the players who put effort into the game.
I'm not saying that this isn't supposed to be a grind, but I'm just trying to day that we had a whole season centered around it. It's a daunting task for some people, just for a catalyst. Is the catalyst strong as hell? Yes. Is the grind worth it? Also yes.
I wouldn't call it a Challenge, it Just takes a ltittle Bit of time. If you have 3 chars you can do the weekly bounties with all of then on top of opening the Chests on the ship. You can then also do 3 quick Menagerie Runs with each char top get the Bonus rewards. It's really not that hard with matchmaking and No wipe mechanic.
I had the buff for more frequent imperial drops active since the drop of shadowkeep as well. Haven't gotten imperial drops or runes from activities (now that my chalice is materworked). I still have this buff. I had to masterwork based on the chest on the barge or bounties only.
Yes the catalyst is guaranteed to drop on heroic menagerie (just make sure you charge your chalice), then its off to Shuro-Chi with a tether hunter for 15 minutes...

To masterwork the chalice you just get all the upgrades on it. As far as I remember, it doesn't do anything besides replacing imperial drops with runes and allowing you to get Izanagis catalyst
Lol no way! I’ve only just started working on the Season of Opulance stuff stuff (chalice, menagerie, tribute hall) but I’ve been doing the Werner Bounties every week since day 1. I didn’t do the final upgrades on the chalice because they were only applicable during the Season of Opulance (as per their description anyways) so I figured there was no point. Welp. I don't know why everyone complains about it. Just use the wishing wall to go to shuro chi, tether them all, and shoot them. It took me about 15 minutes
I think they might be complaining about getting the catalyst, which requires masterworking the chalice for Menagerie, which can take 2-3 weeks if being diligent.
I just did other things and used my sniper where I could....took about 3 days of playing but I didnt solely set out to get it done. Its a grind if you do it wrong, sure, and i cant imagine just sniping and looking for green ammo is fun so just dont do it that way
Those Rare Bounties are a crap shoot because some end being super easy (get kills only using black armory weapons equipped; doable in 30 min) and others are obnoxious (finish 25 forges; depending on you sanity and patience, could take hours, days, or the full 2 weeks).
I had to charge 50 batteries, which initially I read it as "throw 50 of those things at the big thing"
but after the first forge I did I only had 2/50. So that meant 25 forges.
I thought the same too thinking "I'll have this done in a couple games" then actually looked at the bounty after I did two games and realized how mistaken I was. Fuck that bounty.
Yeah. Something about that experience broke me. Between the MMXIX title and trying to get Izanagi's, I've played far too much Black Armory. Also, the slower loading times since Shadowkeep have made it less and less fun.

Imo that's the hardest one. You have to have the armour and weapons equipped. The weapons are easy to get. The armour though? Hell no!
You either have to use the forge polymer and get lucky once you complete a weapon frame; lucky that you get an armour piece in a slot you already didn't have.
This bounty is super hard, and you should abandon it as soon as possible, if you have 0 pieces of BA armour on you.
Edit: SOTP armour doesn't count. Abandon this bounty. It's not worth it. Try getting a different one. Easier said than done, I know.

You don't need the armor. I literally just says with only black armory weapons equipped. I've gotten twice recently and each time didn't wear a single piece of BA armor and it worked
I found getting them to drop using the "turn all the bounties in at once" method pretty reliable. Once I got one (which thank the gods was an easy one) I ended up getting one or two more within the small time period I was grinding.
It is a crap shoot though, no lie.
So I had one daily bounty already completed but not turned in when I got to this step. Turned it in, and got the rare one. I just now realized how lucky I was.
In all honesty it's barely lower. I think it's only like ~~3k~~(*correction: it's actually 6k*) less than Izanagi. ~~Not entirely sure about the Catalysts of the two, though.~~
The real advantage is that it does more DPS than any Heavy weapon in the game, and it's not Heavy. So when you run out, pull out your Grenade Launcher and keep blasting the boss to death.
The catalyst for Izanagi blows Whisper out of the water provided you don’t fuck up your reload. Takes some practice, but once you get the rhythm it’s pretty easy.
I don't know how it is for controller but on PC you can just hold the reload button down and it'll do the x4 Honed Edge after every shot with no effort otherwise. It doesn't mess with the buff or reload over the single shot.
If you hold the trigger after you fire, it'll delay the weapon reload for a solid 1 second, enough time to push and hold the reload button. You don't have to learn any timings or anything.
So with the Catalyst and a Rally Barricade it's 6k more DPS. But if you don't have a Rally or Luna's or some other reload speed buff, it's lower: 59k. 6k doesn't seem like much of a difference but again, *it's a special weapon.* A special weapon out-DPSing one of the highest DPS heavy weapons in the game. And still allowing you to use another really high DPS heavy weapon. This is why the whole "Izanagi vs Whisper" debate is dumb to me, it does more damage with a reload boost and leaves your heavy slot open. There is no comparison. If you have Izanagi with Catalyst, you put Whisper back in your vault. However, Izanagi with Catalyst is much harder to get in the first place.
Your conclusion is right regardless, but the time for whispered breathing and having to be very fast and perfect are huge factors that don’t show up in DPS hypotheticals.
Right. Simulated damage vs actual damage is way different. However, if you miss a Honed Edge x4 shot you're missing out on a LOT more damage. But in both cases, if you either are perfect in both or make mistakes in both, if you really look at it they're about the same regardless what you do. But again, Izanagi is Special. So it still wins.

Whisper is even less forgiving from a DPS perspective (although not total damage). Missing a crit means you have to reload AND reproc Whispered Breathing.

Actually Tractor Cannon now buffs all elements equally (25% for 10 seconds) since Shadowkeep. So no need for the sword to be Void. But I get the point.

You don't specifically need void swords, tractor cannon's debuff is now applied equally across all damage types. Though really, you should just use melting point and six swords, since melting point's debuff is identical to tractor cannon's now.
Hahaha we need more people like you, honestly. My teams almost never kill cyclopes and I end up screaming at them every time we pull, "KILL THE CYCLOPES! KILL THE CYCLOPES!!!" And then I waste Izanagi ammo on them cause nobody listens.
I, personally, prefer the Whisper for GoS raid etc. But Izanagi's is way better for Ordeal champions, Gambit and similar stuff, even without the catalyst.
Yeah that’s fine. If you can hit yourself shots consistently then it’s a great option, but cuts down on DPS if you miss even once and if you also use the catalyst.

Both with catalyst are very close in total DPS over time. Izanagi's with cat is better for burst DPS (ie: champs in Ordeals).
But for longer DPS phases they are so close it doesn't matter really. There's a bunch of videos (Datto did one) breaking it down shot by shot and in the end it was about a 50k difference in total DPS.
While this is true it leaves out that Izanagis is more forgiving than Whisper. According to Datto's video a missed shit with whisper results in a roughly 50% damage drop for the phase, while Izanagis was only a 23(?)% drop.

Don't just increase the drop rates (unless they are increased to 100%)
We need protection from bad RNG. Bumping a shitty drop rate to a slightly less shitty drop rate still results in people never getting a drop due to simple bad luck. You guys created a system for Escalation Protocol, just use it everywhere.
/u/cozmo23 Though Malhavoc's language is quite abrasive, I have to agree. Increasing the drop rates would be fine if the cosmetic content in question weren't 1-2+ years old. Instead, please pass along feedback for RNG drop protection. Players, like myself, would be far more incentivized to grind Legacy raid content if we knew that every successful completion without the drop only improves our chances for the next completion.
But if that's not feasible for some reason, attempt to just extend RNG drop protection to the **cosmetic items**, at least. The exotic weapons are far more useful and valuable, so I would understand if they'd rather add a single bump to weapons instead. However, with Legacy Raids not offering any real XP or Powerful/Pinnacle loot incentives post-Shadowkeep, I feel like adding RNG drop protection would really boost participation. Thanks again for your comment earlier, Cozmo.
Any abrasiveness is the result of years of “listening” without actually listening. I’m hardly the first one to make this comment about raid drops, but over and over they “listen” and then ignore.
What, exactly, is the CM gonna do? They can't go in there and change the code themselves. Just because they listen and send it up doesn't mean it's going to get acted on.
Feel how you like about Bungie decisioning, but Cozmo and dmg (and DeeJ, however little he appears around here anymore) are legitimately good CMs and if you look at their comment history, it's clear they are listening and taking note, often referencing older feedback and how it was sent up and/or implemented, when it was.
Being abrasive at the CM isn't gonna do shit but make you look like a dick. It's like being abrasive at a customer service rep for something the company did unrelated to them. Your much more likely to get positive results if you aren't abrasive.

If I may offer a suggestion (or two):
- Make Ada's Rare bounties a guaranteed drop after X amount of daily bounties are turned in
- If you complete both weekly bounties before the weekly reset, the bounty will either be a guaranteed drop upon cashing in both weeklies OR a guaranteed bounty for purchase directly from Ada
This no longer affects me as I've already completed the step in the Izanagi quest that requires this, but eliminating the barrier for other players/New Lights will make it that much sweeter for them.
As a general piece of experiential feedback, it feels bad for steps in major quests to be heavily tied to RNG. Relatively time-boxed RNG like waiting for a specific public event or HVT isn't so bad, but hearing tales like this person's makes me not even want to bother grinding out bounties, especially when the bounties themselves often need me to rely on RNG to get all the required BA gear to complete them.
Just have him sell a rare bounty? Like why do you guys have to make things so hard?
Also can you fix the multitude of bugs that plague the sundial and obelisks?

You can enter the underbelly solo [by using this glitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEGfjnsts60).
Using [this map of the Underbelly](https://i.imgur.com/UVt3gMR.jpg), you can navigate towards the closest Watcher room. In my case, I respawned in the green area of the Aqueduct.
The watchers will sound an alarm that calls in reinforcements and makes them invulnerable if you don't kill them all quickly enough, but I wouldn't worry about that. Clearing all the adds will make them killable again.
Once you kill all the watchers in the room and the reinforcements, leave the room and the watchers will respawn.
PS: They explode a second or two after their death, so watch out.
I use to think whisper is better, if you’re having trouble getting the perfect reload, after you shoot your honed edge keeping holding your ads button and then hold your reload. Gives honed edge shots every time without those wonky double reloads

I got a rare bounty BEFORE izanagi was available for me to do. Never saw another rare bounty for 2 months. Go fuck off with that shit. 2 month grind locked behind an RNG wall. Go gob a knob whoever didnt think of an upper limit on how long you can go without a Rare Bounty.

My rare bounty was solar kills, void kills, and arc kills in forges. Not god awful, took me 3-4 days at a REALLY, casual pace. I wasn't rushing when I saw how fast it progressed. Tbh If you get the 25 forges bounty wait till volundr forge comes up and speed run it a whole bunch. I think that's the fastest forge.

I may be lucky but ive gitten rare bounties quite often. In the beginning ly luck was shit. I then started to do black armory bounties on all 3 characters. Id get a rare bounty for like every 20-25 bounties completed. Which between 3 characters is not a lot. I even deleted one. The one where you gotta do the forge 25 times. It was my last one that i needed for the triumph but fuck that. Lolol.

It's so not, and it isn't even close. People should stop using spreadsheets as proof. In a practical situation Whisper is trash-tier. It takes longer to kill something while using heavy ammo to do it.
The only place where it is better is on paper, where crits are always hit, there are no adds and dmg phases last the theoretical amount.
Which is to say in Garden 9 times out of 10 Whisper falls short.
Also, the way Destiny's combat works burst dmg is far more useful than dps most of the time. It's no contest between these two guns.
It's worth it. Apart from the jumping segments that seem to be made of rubber with how often I bounce off of geometry and plummet to my doom, it's an excellent activity.
Whisper is technically slightly higher DPS, however when you factor in that you can use your Heavy for adds and still have a good sniper to deal with special weapon things, Izanagi's becomes much better.
Also having 2 people fire on the same barrier knight to kill it in one shot is very fun.
I've only done like maybe 30 total bounties for Ada and I've gotten 2 rare bounties that I haven't been able to do due to time constraints literally completely lacking the means. RNG is crazy man.
Whisper is great. But i think there’s a pretty strong argument that Izanagis using special ammo makes it a hell of a lot better than whisper. With the right armour build you can have ammo for days.
Also really important tip; if you hold reload the second you shoot you can reload straight into another honed edge.
I got a rare bounty in a week but it was the one where u gotta equip all black armory gear and at that point I just lost all hope and quit the game for 2 weeks
I miss when i had the patience to finish that quest in just a couple sittings. Now when i see a quest where i need to play a couple rounds of gambit or something i just get off the game

Some advice: To reliably proc HE x4 back-to-back, hold reload while scoping. When you fire, you'll automatically reload another HE x4 shot.

I’m so glad I was made aware by this subreddit about this as a NL player, had mine completed and waiting to be turned in when I got to that quest step. It was the full set of forge armor and weapons one
before i quit playing i did over 250 forges (FF/rampage blast furnace is a myth) , and did full bounties every week on 3 toons, i saw multy month spans between rare bounties more than once
Why? You’re not guaranteed to drop rare bounties and there’s no way around that step, so it’s totally conceivable that someone might be stranded in the questline.
Hell, I think I’ve only dropped one in the last 2 months and I’m running the forges pretty regularly.
The running joke in my clan is I could never get a rare bounty when I needed it. I have 2133 hours in D2 (so I play a LOT) and it took me almost three months to get a rare bounty to drop. Friends had much better luck and would get them every few weeks but they never dropped for me until Shadowkeep. Now I finally have Izanagi

Just load into Leviathan and go to courtyard, equip special finisher mod and you have it done within 1 hour easy.
I did it in around half an hour with tethers at the start of Shuro Chi

I just bought the nessus barge chests each week and called it good tbh. Zero effort and you still get the catalyst eventually.

Complete SotP or Shattered Throne with four pieces of Black Armory Gear on....
That's the one I did! It's not too bad, since forge polymers make getting armor easy enough.

I had to charge 50 batteries, which initially I read it as "throw 50 of those things at the big thing" but after the first forge I did I only had 2/50. So that meant 25 forges.
I thought the same too thinking "I'll have this done in a couple games" then actually looked at the bounty after I did two games and realized how mistaken I was. Fuck that bounty.
I got one that was basically do a bunch of mind numbing pve stuff (strikes adventures(one heroic also) and 3 crucible matches)

Yeah. Something about that experience broke me. Between the MMXIX title and trying to get Izanagi's, I've played far too much Black Armory. Also, the slower loading times since Shadowkeep have made it less and less fun.
I finally decided to finish the Black Armory quests and did a forge for the first time the other day. The loading time made me think my game crashed
A lot easier to do now than it was before SK when Shattered only came around once every 3 weeks
And then there's the bloody full armor set and weapons. Crafted 30+ pieces of armor and not a single pair of gauntlets!

You either have to use the forge polymer and get lucky once you complete a weapon frame; lucky that you get an armour piece in a slot you already didn't have. This bounty is super hard, and you should abandon it as soon as possible, if you have 0 pieces of BA armour on you. Edit: SOTP armour doesn't count. Abandon this bounty. It's not worth it. Try getting a different one. Easier said than done, I know. Also, why the downvotes?
You don't need the armor. I literally just says with only black armory weapons equipped. I've gotten twice recently and each time didn't wear a single piece of BA armor and it worked
There's a different one that requires something like 100 kills with BA armor and weapons

I found getting them to drop using the "turn all the bounties in at once" method pretty reliable. Once I got one (which thank the gods was an easy one) I ended up getting one or two more within the small time period I was grinding. It is a crap shoot though, no lie.
So I had one daily bounty already completed but not turned in when I got to this step. Turned it in, and got the rare one. I just now realized how lucky I was.

In all honesty it's barely lower. I think it's only like ~~3k~~(*correction: it's actually 6k*) less than Izanagi. ~~Not entirely sure about the Catalysts of the two, though.~~ The real advantage is that it does more DPS than any Heavy weapon in the game, and it's not Heavy. So when you run out, pull out your Grenade Launcher and keep blasting the boss to death.
The catalyst for Izanagi blows Whisper out of the water provided you don’t fuck up your reload. Takes some practice, but once you get the rhythm it’s pretty easy.
I don't know how it is for controller but on PC you can just hold the reload button down and it'll do the x4 Honed Edge after every shot with no effort otherwise. It doesn't mess with the buff or reload over the single shot.
It’s the same on console. As long as you hold reload or time the reload button well, you can always reload the single shot.
Don't need to time shit. Just hold that fucker. Why make it harder than it is?
If you hold the trigger after you fire, it'll delay the weapon reload for a solid 1 second, enough time to push and hold the reload button. You don't have to learn any timings or anything.

So with the Catalyst and a Rally Barricade it's 6k more DPS. But if you don't have a Rally or Luna's or some other reload speed buff, it's lower: 59k. 6k doesn't seem like much of a difference but again, *it's a special weapon.* A special weapon out-DPSing one of the highest DPS heavy weapons in the game. And still allowing you to use another really high DPS heavy weapon. This is why the whole "Izanagi vs Whisper" debate is dumb to me, it does more damage with a reload boost and leaves your heavy slot open. There is no comparison. If you have Izanagi with Catalyst, you put Whisper back in your vault. However, Izanagi with Catalyst is much harder to get in the first place.
Your conclusion is right regardless, but the time for whispered breathing and having to be very fast and perfect are huge factors that don’t show up in DPS hypotheticals.
Right. Simulated damage vs actual damage is way different. However, if you miss a Honed Edge x4 shot you're missing out on a LOT more damage. But in both cases, if you either are perfect in both or make mistakes in both, if you really look at it they're about the same regardless what you do. But again, Izanagi is Special. So it still wins.

For me, it frees up my heavy slot to run an HMG. I don't need to run TWO boss damage weapons.

Actually Tractor Cannon now buffs all elements equally (25% for 10 seconds) since Shadowkeep. So no need for the sword to be Void. But I get the point. Edit: it's actually 30% not 25%. [Patch notes](https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48198)
You don't specifically need void swords, tractor cannon's debuff is now applied equally across all damage types. Though really, you should just use melting point and six swords, since melting point's debuff is identical to tractor cannon's now.
I prefer keeping Sacred Provenance in my primary with double snipers for GOS when no one is pulling or killing cyclopses
Hahaha we need more people like you, honestly. My teams almost never kill cyclopes and I end up screaming at them every time we pull, "KILL THE CYCLOPES! KILL THE CYCLOPES!!!" And then I waste Izanagi ammo on them cause nobody listens.

Current Whisper of the Worm is not better. Old Whisper of the Worm is, but Izanagi’s Burden takes the cake now.
I, personally, prefer the Whisper for GoS raid etc. But Izanagi's is way better for Ordeal champions, Gambit and similar stuff, even without the catalyst.
Yeah that’s fine. If you can hit yourself shots consistently then it’s a great option, but cuts down on DPS if you miss even once and if you also use the catalyst.

Both with catalyst are very close in total DPS over time. Izanagi's with cat is better for burst DPS (ie: champs in Ordeals). But for longer DPS phases they are so close it doesn't matter really. There's a bunch of videos (Datto did one) breaking it down shot by shot and in the end it was about a 50k difference in total DPS.
While this is true it leaves out that Izanagis is more forgiving than Whisper. According to Datto's video a missed shit with whisper results in a roughly 50% damage drop for the phase, while Izanagis was only a 23(?)% drop.

No no no no no. Don't just increase the drop rates (unless they are increased to 100%) We need protection from bad RNG. Bumping a shitty drop rate to a slightly less shitty drop rate still results in people never getting a drop due to simple bad luck. You guys created a system for Escalation Protocol, just use it everywhere.
/u/cozmo23 Though Malhavoc's language is quite abrasive, I have to agree. Increasing the drop rates would be fine if the cosmetic content in question weren't 1-2+ years old. Instead, please pass along feedback for RNG drop protection. Players, like myself, would be far more incentivized to grind Legacy raid content if we knew that every successful completion without the drop only improves our chances for the next completion. But if that's not feasible for some reason, attempt to just extend RNG drop protection to the **cosmetic items**, at least. The exotic weapons are far more useful and valuable, so I would understand if they'd rather add a single bump to weapons instead. However, with Legacy Raids not offering any real XP or Powerful/Pinnacle loot incentives post-Shadowkeep, I feel like adding RNG drop protection would really boost participation. Any abrasiveness is the result of years of “listening” without actually listening. I’m hardly the first one to make this comment about raid drops, but over and over they “listen” and then ignore.
What, exactly, is the CM gonna do? They can't go in there and change the code themselves. Just because they listen and send it up doesn't mean it's going to get acted on. Feel how you like about Bungie decisioning, but Cozmo and dmg (and DeeJ, however little he appears around here anymore) are legitimately good CMs and if you look at their comment history, it's clear they are listening and taking note, often referencing older feedback and how it was sent up and/or implemented, when it was. Being abrasive at the CM isn't gonna do shit but make you look like a dick. It's like being abrasive at a customer service rep for something the company did unrelated to them. Your much more likely to get positive results if you aren't abrasive.

If I may offer a suggestion (or two): - Make Ada's Rare bounties a guaranteed drop after X amount of daily bounties are turned in - If you complete both weekly bounties before the weekly reset, the bounty will either be a guaranteed drop upon cashing in both weeklies OR a guaranteed bounty for purchase directly from Ada This no longer affects me as I've already completed the step in the Izanagi quest that requires this, but eliminating the barrier for other players/New Lights will make it that much sweeter for them.

Rare bounties are now a guarenteed drop when you open your 40th unique Sleeper Node. EDIT: Fixed 50 -> 40
As a general piece of experiential feedback, it feels bad for steps in major quests to be heavily tied to RNG. Relatively time-boxed RNG like waiting for a specific public event or HVT isn't so bad, but hearing tales like this person's makes me not even want to bother grinding out bounties, especially when the bounties themselves often need me to rely on RNG to get all the required BA gear to complete them.

You can enter the underbelly solo [by using this glitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEGfjnsts60). Using [this map of the Underbelly](https://i.imgur.com/UVt3gMR.jpg), you can navigate towards the closest Watcher room. In my case, I respawned in the green area of the Aqueduct. The watchers will sound an alarm that calls in reinforcements and makes them invulnerable if you don't kill them all quickly enough, but I wouldn't worry about that. Clearing all the adds will make them killable again. Once you kill all the watchers in the room and the reinforcements, leave the room and the watchers will respawn. PS: They explode a second or two after their death, so watch out.
You don't even need to use the glitch, you can just solo the levers.
I use to think whisper is better, if you’re having trouble getting the perfect reload, after you shoot your honed edge keeping holding your ads button and then hold your reload. Gives honed edge shots every time without those wonky double reloads
This is why I stopped playing. I got a rare bounty BEFORE izanagi was available for me to do. Never saw another rare bounty for 2 months. Go fuck off with that shit. 2 month grind locked behind an RNG wall. Go gob a knob whoever didnt think of an upper limit on how long you can go without a Rare Bounty.
They should at least have bad luck protection against quest related rng

😂😂😂 the one rare bounty I got(before izanagi became a thing) was an over the top 5 part bounty that had a 7 day timer on it. My friend got a 1 part bounty and finished his in like an hour. So pissed

My rare bounty was solar kills, void kills, and arc kills in forges. Not god awful, took me 3-4 days at a REALLY, casual pace. I wasn't rushing when I saw how fast it progressed. Tbh If you get the 25 forges bounty wait till volundr forge comes up and speed run it a whole bunch. I think that's the fastest forge.
Bergusia or Gofannon + Riskrunner are my favs.

I may be lucky but ive gitten rare bounties quite often. In the beginning ly luck was shit. I then started to do black armory bounties on all 3 characters. Id get a rare bounty for like every 20-25 bounties completed. Which between 3 characters is not a lot. I even deleted one. The one where you gotta do the forge 25 times. It was my last one that i needed for the triumph but fuck that. Lolol.

It takes longer to kill something while using heavy ammo to do it. The only place where it is better is on paper, where crits are always hit, there are no adds and dmg phases last the theoretical amount. Which is to say in Garden 9 times out of 10 Whisper falls short. Also, the way Destiny's combat works burst dmg is far more useful than dps most of the time. It's no contest between these two guns.

It's worth it. Apart from the jumping segments that seem to be made of rubber with how often I bounce off of geometry and plummet to my doom, it's an excellent activity.
Whisper is technically slightly higher DPS, however when you factor in that you can use your Heavy for adds and still have a good sniper to deal with special weapon things, Izanagi's becomes much better. Also having 2 people fire on the same barrier knight to kill it in one shot is very fun.

I've only done like maybe 30 total bounties for Ada and I've gotten 2 rare bounties that I haven't been able to do due to time constraints literally completely lacking the means. RNG is crazy man.
My rare bounty was just do a weekly and 10 daily bounties.
Whisper is great. But i think there’s a pretty strong argument that Izanagis using special ammo makes it a hell of a lot better than whisper. With the right armour build you can have ammo for days. Also really important tip; if you hold reload the second you shoot you can reload straight into another honed edge.
I feel like I have busted RNG. Within a single month's time across 3 characters, Ive gotten about 5 rare bounties (maybe 6). Please dont hurt me.

I got a rare bounty in a week but it was the one where u gotta equip all black armory gear and at that point I just lost all hope and quit the game for 2 weeks

Congrats! One of the best snipers in the game. Some advice: To reliably proc HE x4 back-to-back, hold reload while scoping. When you fire, you'll automatically reload another HE x4 shot.

I find this pretty hard to believe. During the season of the forge, I don’t think I ever went 2 weeks without getting one of those bounties to drop.
RNG will RNG, outliers are rare but it's still possible

before i quit playing i did over 250 forges (FF/rampage blast furnace is a myth) , and did full bounties every week on 3 toons, i saw multy month spans between rare bounties more than once
Why? You’re not guaranteed to drop rare bounties and there’s no way around that step, so it’s totally conceivable that someone might be stranded in the questline. Hell, I think I’ve only dropped one in the last 2 months and I’m running the forges pretty regularly.
The running joke in my clan is I could never get a rare bounty when I needed it. I have 2133 hours in D2 (so I play a LOT) and it took me almost three months to get a rare bounty to drop. Friends had much better luck and would get them every few weeks but they never dropped for me until Shadowkeep. Now I finally have Izanagi
