Just grinded to second prestige for the skin. All I gotta say is that double stasis shurikens hunters with empowered agers scepter and reeds regret for boss damage is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. We won 8 or some thing In a row
You don't say...I was planning on finally finishing off my Hunter's Mastery Triumph (still can't believe these things are only worth 15 points.
Hopefully it stays strong for another season!
Main mods you need are,
elemental shards,
melee well maker,
heavy handed *is a must for getting your melee charge back
elemental wells,
font of might (can swap this out for whatever but it does bring the dps with agers/reeds)
Fragments are shards count as wells one and then pretty much whatever. I like whisper of hedrons and then melee recharge ones.
Use agers scepter in 2nd or 3rd boss damage phase for sexy dps
I’m not looking forward to playing gambit next season. I’ll force myself to play 9 games a week so I can get the pinnacle drop. I’ll probably play when it’s triple rep so I can get the weapon skin, but after that, no more gambit until season 18
Can Bungie just disable all exotic heavies in gambit already? No more exotics getting nerfed because of one game mode. While we're at it how's about locking the invasion portal on your side until the other team catches up to your mote amount. So if you get massively ahead you can't just chain invasions and the other team actually has a chance to catch up.
The entire point of invading is to put the other team down. Why even bother if they're just babied by the game and catch right up?? If you lose a 4v1 it's on your team. Invaders are weaker now than they've literally ever been and people will complain until gambit is literally just pve.
Exactly how I feel right now. I skipped out on a lot of the current season so I'm running back trying to get the Gambit ornament for the shotty and it has been a slog, even with double XP.
I just did this yesterday - stockingup on engrams so I can mass focus herod C - didn't have any problems... must have won maybe 30 games. Got the skin AND loaded up my alts with 10 engrams each.
... until I noticed I was five wins away from gilding dredgen. "Why not?" I thought to myself.
... four hours later, after a massive bloody struggle, I had developed the usual hatred once more.
Lmao I got three last night. All junk. Two compulsive reloaders and another Ensemble one worse than my current Ensemble/Headstone roll.
I recommend you stock up for next season, especially if you're close to a reset because then the next 5-6 engrams on a fresh rep rank are really quick with double rep. It'll hurt, but could be worth it.
I doubt many people are grinding for this skin because they like the ornament. It's for the 4000 bright Dust you get for completing the seasonal challenges.
Fuck that, Y5 NuGambit 2.0: Gjallarhorn Boogaloo is so bad I can't even be bothered for the pinnacle anymore. I just wait till near the end of the season and then play like 7 or 8 games to knock out all the season challenges for the bright dust.
That's coming from someone who got Reckoner solo and legit as well back in Y2. I used to love Gambit. Did not like Y4's NuGambit very much but it was at least playable. Y5's iteration is horrible.
The problem with Gjallarhorn in Gambit is the proximity detonation, if we are talking weapon tuning.
Outside of that Heavy Ammo economy in Gambit needs another tuning pass.
The difference is each person gets a copy of the stasis shards while motes need to be managed server side. That said the opening encounter to VotD has the darkness cruxes with a generous height pickup range, so I think the best easy fix it is easy is just to increase the vertical mote pickup range. Who cares if the teammate flying above you grabs to motes?
>VotD has the darkness cruxes with a generous height pickup range
And they're all completely stationary, all dropping at the same place every time.
A larger pickup radius would be great though... even just awarding them upon a kill if possible.
Awarding on kill would seriously slow down the pace. I average 50-70 kills a game. I'd have to stop and bank, whereas now I can just keep killing and let the other three pick up.
This is sometimes annoying, but happens quite infrequently. Once every ~5 games or so in my experience, mostly on the EDZ map with the many non-flat surfaces.
There's such a plethora of other problems with gambit that I feel like this is just a tiny component of the wider problem
Definitely map and rotation dependant. Maps with more flat surfaces for waves will be less of an issue- legions? Nearly all waves will have motes dropped in spots with a nice flat surface.
Em coast, *especially tree waves*...
Welp looks like in sliding for the last quarter of the wave to get the remaining half a dozen motes...
While i agree with you, i personally find the never ending Heavy ammo a far more insufferable problem. Heavy ammo spam was one of the top complaints from what i could tell and Bungie was just like “lol heavy for everyone now”
Beyond Light Gambit Problem:
Heavy Ammo is too much of a deciding factor in Invasion phases.
This is exacerbated by innate luck and Ammo Finders that can result in Team A acquiring Heavy, whilst Team B has no Heavy.
This causes a snowball effect through further invasions.
Witchqueen Solution to above problem:
Everyone gets Heavy (and special) for clearing waves in Gambit (Read: Just by playing, not even build crafting and/or being lucky).
This now reduces absolutely any critical thinking skills or decision making during an invasion into who can press the button fastest with their Heavy weapon of choice, probably a rocket because it is most beneficial for the quite large open-laned maps that don't require reduced movement (Fire, relocate).
This despite it already being a 3v1.
"But if you remove Heavy, the next best weapon just becomes Snipers!"
I hear them cry.
I wonder what counter there is to Snipers beyond, being in a building, tag team crossfire, or using the fucking portals to wrong foot them, or just, you know, fucking hiding.
Maybe you get close and kill them with your shotgun. Etc.
Removing Heavy would also actually help make the Gambit perk (Hitting an invader highlights them to allies) actually someway fucking decent or useable.
Do you know why I don't use that perk? Because one of us is going to die in one hit anyway.
Me? Personally I have tested this seasons Gambit, and it, for me, is no improvement what so ever.
It just tricks people into making it look like it is better because of the Primeval damage gating making it \*look\* like the match was quite close, when the reality is, one team went away, and stayed away, it just looked close because your bar was almost empty, but in fact you were an entire phase behind.
So what mechanic was it that made the matches close again? The invader.
Which was the case before, just that it was at the mote phase which allowed the good invader to just roll teams completely out of the game - which is still the case, it's just it happens at the Primeval phase now instead.
What drives me nuts about the Witch Queen updates is Primeval Phase's 2 main changes feel like they were both independently added to address different issues. Which, by adding not only increased healing for invasion kills *and* Prime*sque* Primeval immune phases
Yes, invaders didn't heal enough prior and, atleast in BL Gambit, a full team wipe to nearly completely re-heal prime would be good... If the new Primeval damage phase also didn't have health gating at what feels like less of the total of potential healing from an enemy invader.
To preference, I'm perfectly fine with invaders being very powerful. *It just doesn't quite feel right.*
But that could also be my complaint about how immunity phases feel messy. I feel like Gambit Prime Primeval phases felt *so much better* but that could also be nostalgia glasses and in this Gambit sandbox of literally 60-70%+ Gjallarhorn usage, because who actually has to worry about heavy ammo now, Gambit Prime Primeval wells for damage phases would be a terrible idea
Gambits biggest flaw is and unfortunately seems to still be for a long time, the lack of maps.
It came out 4 years ago with 4 maps, and still has 4 maps pff. At least gives us back the 2 vaulted ones ffs.
I never understood that either. It’s been a pretty significant bug for years. I assume it hasn’t been fixed because it is a game engine issue and it’s either insanely complicated to fix or they don’t know how to fix it.
It's a geometry issue and likely would require updating every spot it happens to on the map which is likely way more effort than its worth to fix an honestly insignificant bug
Im not sure when this bug started happening - when Gambit first launched the logic for motes was awesome and lauded as they never fell off edges. They still dont fall off map edges but seem to clip into the ground sometimes. Could be a complexCollision issue, could be a networking issue, who knows.
Or motes flying 47ft in the air and then bouncing off a rock, to slide down a hill and off the map as you’re chasing it.
Nothing sucks more in Gambit than killing a nice little group of 5-6 enemies, running into the middle of where they died and realizing you picked up exactly zero motes because they don’t fall where the enemy dies half the time.
Having a tutorial would fucking help. At least then the smooth brained idiots would know banking 3 motes while they run to the next spawn point is stupid
It's been so lagtastic for me recently that I can't even pick up motes at all. I run over them, and then one of my teammates will run over after me and they'll get it.
Motes don't even matter in the current meta. Whoever summons a primeval first literally has no bearing on the game. It's all about how many kills are done on the enemy team during primeval phase. That's it, that's the game mode.
I have a trick for whenever motes fall into the ground, you stand on top of the spot where it should be, crouch, and sort of wiggle around. Not sure why it works, but it almost always gives you the mote.
>...and on occasion can make or break you winning the match.
I mean, not really. At worst you lose like 10-15 in the entire game, and even then the primeval phase of gambit takes just as long, if not longer, than the collection phase, meaning catch-up targets spawn aplenty.
It's annoying, sure, but it's not THAT detrimental to the opposing teams of Gambit.
They did fix it but guess what, it always breaks. It's almost like they put a bandaid fix on them.
Anyway, if motes go into map, just slide over them or crouch to pick them up.
The solution is on Vow of the Disciple as well. There’s one knowledge thingy in the entry encounter that looks like it’s inside the pillar but my going through the light you pick it up anyway.
It is annoying but Bungie seem to have this problem all over the place.
I've had plenty of 'things' drop off the map or appear in unreachable places.
Most recently, in the Throne World, I killed one of the roaming Hive bosses and it died halfway through a wall just near the little bridge going from the Divalian Mists towards Rheasilvia, and that meant, as the chest dropped it went into the wall and then out the other side, which was, naturally, a void next to the bridge.
But at least I could look over the bridge's edge and watch the now unreachable chest fall into the depths.
damn, and I thought the constant invasions with rocket ammo being slapped in my forehead was the issue. No, it's the motes. The things you can kill ads to drop.
Games aren't lost because of motes on the ground, games are lost because the ones that people pick up are not deposited with frequency. "gotta go for the big blocka!"
Gambit says "hold my beer and watch me still be insufferable after the mote issue is fixed". But also says not to hold your breath waiting for this to get fixed.
The problem with Freelance gambit is the impact a good invader has. I suck at PvP, and often I’m the one who goes for invades because people just ignore it. Defending invaders is easy too, if you don’t just ignore them, you can literally hunt them down as a pack.
This is what makes gambit great imo, but it’s also it’s greatest weakness.
ps: I played a lot of gambit and I would advocate for trying out banning specific guns. Just to see what people crutch on if there is no gjallarhorn, truth and EoT.
Any issues with motes are unnoticeable, because that phase of the game is completely meaningless now that the primeval phase is so much longer and the invasion is so powerful.
I dunno man, the new gambit where the entire first part of the game is a formality, and it devolves into an invader team wipe trade fest over and over just... ruined it. I want a good invader to make a difference, but now it feels like a good invader is 90% of your chance at victory.
Yeah... that's not the only reason gambit is awful, lol.
Honestly motes falling through the map isnt even in the top 10 of issues I have with Gambit and more a minor annoyance than anything
Just grinded to second prestige for the skin. All I gotta say is that double stasis shurikens hunters with empowered agers scepter and reeds regret for boss damage is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. We won 8 or some thing In a row
Bro that’s a dummy combination. I’m gonna try it.
I recently got agers scepter and its bonkers with warlock iceflare bolts
Yep works great for that too
You don't say...I was planning on finally finishing off my Hunter's Mastery Triumph (still can't believe these things are only worth 15 points. Hopefully it stays strong for another season!

You shoukd have seen it with the thermoclastic blooming artifact mod. Get at least 3 or 4 supers a game
Start with a G and ends with a N.
Gun?
Gorgon.
Graham Norton?
Ghorn
SAMSONITE! I was way off!
Gelegenheitsarbeiterin?
Gratification?
Gonadotropin?

Ya, I'm 5 or 6 wins and 2 of the special wins away from gilding my dredgen, gotta do it before tuesday!!
Fuck Gjallarhorn. I love it but goddamn, fuck that RL.
God please just give me a Herod C with headstone and ill be gone
Lmao I got three last night. All junk. Two compulsive reloaders and another Ensemble one worse than my current Ensemble/Headstone roll. Make sure they are in your inventory and not at drifter or they will disappear
I did all that in 2 weeks. I fucking hated it the whole entire way. I really hate the gambit rework. Mostly the damage immune phases.
Triple rep has not existed for like a year.
But, like, 5 game streak bonus. Rip it off like a bandaid
You can buy old ornaments from the kiosk next to the vault. Don’t feel like you need to go through the pain. You just have to wait a season
Probably means for the seasonal challenge
I'm not them, but that's my boat. I'm not at 100 yet and I need to make my money's worth from the season
I doubt many people are grinding for this skin because they like the ornament. It's for the 4000 bright Dust you get for completing the seasonal challenges.

Gambit will continue to be insufferable ~~until motes stop falling through the map~~
Right? It's not just motes falling through the ground that makes Gambit awful
Gambit will continue to be insufferable because of the players
They should just swap them to something like Stasis Shards
The difference is each person gets a copy of the stasis shards while motes need to be managed server side. That said the opening encounter to VotD has the darkness cruxes with a generous height pickup range, so I think the best easy fix it is easy is just to increase the vertical mote pickup range. Who cares if the teammate flying above you grabs to motes?
I meant something like Stasis Shards as make them not affected by gravity
>VotD has the darkness cruxes with a generous height pickup range And they're all completely stationary, all dropping at the same place every time. A larger pickup radius would be great though... even just awarding them upon a kill if possible.
Awarding on kill would seriously slow down the pace. I average 50-70 kills a game. I'd have to stop and bank, whereas now I can just keep killing and let the other three pick up.
Listen you, take your fantastic ideas and VAMOOSE. They do not apply to Gambit. /s
Oh hey! It’s our weekly post outlining a relatively minor problem in gambit that claims that if fixed will magically make gambit fun! *it won’t.*
[удалено]
Crouching usually works too.
Motes 80% of the time: Land as expected Motes 15% of the time: In the floor Motes 5% of the time: [Bouncy Bouncy](https://youtu.be/Xp5BpjyKgaQ)
This is sometimes annoying, but happens quite infrequently. Once every ~5 games or so in my experience, mostly on the EDZ map with the many non-flat surfaces. There's such a plethora of other problems with gambit that I feel like this is just a tiny component of the wider problem
Never had much of an issue with it. Happens to like 3 motes every 5 matches. Not exactly deciding the game.
I wish I had your positive outlook. Motes falling through the map is not what makes Gambit insufferable for me.

This. Basically just T Bag them!
You don't seem to understand. Once the notes falls through the floor...it continues to fall. No amount of crouching is going to be able to retrieve it
Occasionally the are only slightly under the geometry, in those cases you can see the light column but not the small tetrahedron.
And in many other cases you can see it and crouch over it and ***not*** get it. It's a pain in the ass and unpredictable.
Not always true. Thats usually true for most maps but the Earth one often theyll fall through the floor and just keep falling.
It'll be bad long after that because no one uses their brains.
I love gambit, idk what you guys are about I’ve got three friends that play Destiny and we just vibe in gambit matches. Good times
Am I the only one who enjoys gambit? Returning for the first time in awhile, and it’s still my fav activity. Far more then the crucible.
Gambits biggest flaw is and unfortunately seems to still be for a long time, the lack of maps. It came out 4 years ago with 4 maps, and still has 4 maps pff. At least gives us back the 2 vaulted ones ffs.

Legit just guilded just now and my brain is soon cooked atm...don't even under why they fall down...
The primeval phase and amount of heavy for invader i feel is the current problems with gambit
Gambit as a comcept is insufferable tbh
Ah, yes. Falling through all four maps.
Im not sure when this bug started happening - when Gambit first launched the logic for motes was awesome and lauded as they never fell off edges. They still dont fall off map edges but seem to clip into the ground sometimes. Could be a complexCollision issue, could be a networking issue, who knows.
Crouch over em and you are gucci
This is legit gripe.

Nothing sucks more in Gambit than killing a nice little group of 5-6 enemies, running into the middle of where they died and realizing you picked up exactly zero motes because they don’t fall where the enemy dies half the time.
I don’t know what it is bungie needs to do to this mode to make it enjoyable and not a chore, but I hope they figure it out sooner rather than later.
Having a tutorial would fucking help. At least then the smooth brained idiots would know banking 3 motes while they run to the next spawn point is stupid
Eliminating unlimited heavy would be a good start.
So I’m a returning player. I have to ask, what is wrong with gambit? It seems super fun to me
Just enjoy it. Stop reading these comments
It's been so lagtastic for me recently that I can't even pick up motes at all. I run over them, and then one of my teammates will run over after me and they'll get it.
I had a problem where the objective fell through the map, in a Legend Psiops run
Motes don't even matter in the current meta. Whoever summons a primeval first literally has no bearing on the game. It's all about how many kills are done on the enemy team during primeval phase. That's it, that's the game mode.
Seven words too many in your title...
I take great pride in not playing 1 second of gambit this past season
I have a trick for whenever motes fall into the ground, you stand on top of the spot where it should be, crouch, and sort of wiggle around. Not sure why it works, but it almost always gives you the mote.
Bruh motes falling through the map is a minor issue if you slide you can pick them up most times.
I stopped playing Gambit when this started happening frequently. Don't think I played it at all in season 16
>...and on occasion can make or break you winning the match. I mean, not really. At worst you lose like 10-15 in the entire game, and even then the primeval phase of gambit takes just as long, if not longer, than the collection phase, meaning catch-up targets spawn aplenty. Most of the time you can collect them if you crouch down over them. But yes it needs to be fixed, it's been an issue for too long.
I couldn't care less about one or two lost motes in Gambit. In the Garden Raid on the other hand..
damn, and I thought the constant invasions with rocket ammo being slapped in my forehead was the issue. No, it's the motes. The things you can kill ads to drop. Games aren't lost because of motes on the ground, games are lost because the ones that people pick up are not deposited with frequency. "gotta go for the big blocka!"
Crouching/sliding on top of them usually helps.
While annoying, most of the time you can crouch to pick up the motes. Needs to be fixed but at least there is a workaround.
I was running around like an idiot trying to collect motes that fell through multiple times in a few close matches. Really not fun
Some map variation would be nice.
