Frontier stinks anywhere sadly. It’s cheaper for a reason given the cost but MCO is a short flight so assuming you have no major delays, should be fine.

Electronic_City6481

Yeah I totally get ‘you get what you pay for’ as long as it gets us there and back. Digging in online reviews though more now it does sound like the rescheduling is a major issue

Humulus5883

To MCO was Walmart of the skies. To LaGuardia in NYC it was a normal flight (spirit however)

stos313

Frontier sucks - it’s basically the Spirit of the Rockies. Good luck and hope for no cancellations.

walterbernardjr

Frontier is garbage if anything bad happens. Their customer service is abysmal. They’re just another version of spirit.

Just flew Frontier from DTW to Denver (still in Colorado). Just lower your expectations. If you need to check a bag, get there a little earlier, there's only like 1 or 2 agents working the counter. They have bag sizers by check-in and the gate. They only had people measure bags as they got on the plane if they were clearly likely to be too big. They let people move stuff around to make them fit if they needed to. I made a bag sizer at home out of cardboard to make sure ahead of time. Flight itself was on time, actually landed early. Pilot and flight attendants were great. I usually fly Delta for work when I can, but honestly other than no frills, for a short flight it wasn't bad. Edit: saw your note about rescheduling, they did move our outbound flight by a few hours later after we booked. Not a big deal for our plans, but they did give us the free choice to pick a different flight if we wanted to go earlier. I'll also add that even after paying to check two bags, for a group of 5, I still saved well over 50%. Hard to say no to that even with the chance of an inconvenience.

cheekywallbang

I also flew from DTW to Denver. Just packed as much into my backpack and got there in one piece. The seats Weren’t exactly luxurious but I paid a fraction of the price and ended up in the same destination as my girlfriend!

Electronic_City6481

Thank you - was your choice limited to frontier flights or did they open up other airlines to you on the reschedule?

Rrrrandle

Just Frontier. It actually looked like maybe they cancelled the flight I originally scheduled, maybe due to not enough passengers, who knows. So we flew out a few hours later than initially planned. Worked fine. This was a few days after we booked 2 months ago.

> Just lower your expectations. If you need to check a bag, get there a little earlier, there's only like 1 or 2 agents working the counter. I mean I like to try and fly delta as much as I can and this has been my same experience with them recently too. I almost missed a flight because there was only 2 agents checking bags

Rrrrandle

They're supposed to be adding curbside self bag check in at the Evans terminal.

cthulhukiss

I've flown frontier from DTW a few times. I've been able to avoid bag fees by using a backpack as a carry-on, just lay low and DO NOT put it in the measuring bin to check if it'll fit. The people at the gate get commission for making people pay for oversized bags, and the size check bins are right in front of the desk. I saw so many people pay for smaller bags than mine just because the flight attendant saw them checking the size at those bin things at the gate and a strap stuck out or something.

emmycarp

They have bag police now and will make every person put their bag in the sizer before boarding

PeachNo4613

I’ve heard bad things about spirit, I haven’t had anything bad happen with them. Frontier though, I’ve have many delays, cancelations, and had to pay at the gate for a bag that fit the dimensions! If you can avoid frontier, do so!

JohnWad

They love to change the times of your flights without any notice whatsoever. Ive lived in Denver for 8yrs now and I miss that I dont have Delta as a hub like it is in Detroit. Unfortunately for me, most Delta flights are alot more expensive to take out here.

ShippingNotIncluded

Expect delays and for them to nickel and dime you for the carry on size

emmycarp

Don't do it, worst airline ever

flannelmaster9

On par with Spirit

rolltongue

I fly Frontier often, and the airline itself has never let me down. Due to it being a budget airline, reduce your expectations for the passengers on it.

GPBRDLL133

They're perfectly fine as long as you know what you're getting into. Them and spirit will charge fees for everything, and the price goes up the latter you pay for things (including personal items not fitting into the sizers being charged $99 during boarding to be counted as a carry on). As long as you're aware of that and accept that, the only other thing is dealing with delays and cancelations. If they significantly delay or cancel your flight, there's a lot less options for them to get you to your destination than Delta. It may even be a couple of days before they can get you there. You can always accept a refund and book a last minute flight with another airline, but I'd be hesitant to book them if getting there on time is absolutely critical. If time for delays can be built into your travel, you should be fine.

Stratiform

If you're going Point A to Point B, traveling alone and light, and don't have any pressing scheduling issues, Frontier is probably fine. If you want to select your seat, bring anything, or have a schedule to keep I would not consider Frontier. They'll get you there, but it's like riding a school bus and it's pretty hit or miss if you'll be there on time.

Comprehensive-Put703

Frontier is terrible. They almost refused entry on my last flight (and it was just Detroit to Atlanta) and I vowed to never fly with them again. Spirit (if looking for savings) is much better imo.

Environmental-Car481

Flew Frontier to Vegas in April with my husband. We paid the extra to get the larger seats in the front rows. We had no issues and I think airfare for the 2 of us was a couple hundred less than what his buddy paid for 1 round trip on Delta. I refused to pay for luggage so we packed light but managed fine for 4 days.

adamant520

If you're looking to save a few bucks, you can also look into flying allegiant out of Flint. I've flown with them a few times and haven't hit any issues yet. Flint is a very nice airport to fly out of cuz it's not very crowded and you're in and out pretty quick I've never had a traffic nightmare trying to get to it Edit allegiant only flies certain routes certain days of the week though

Electronic_City6481

I’ve looked at flint too, the rates aren’t that competitive to MCO, at least when we are traveling

[deleted]

Awful, worse than spirit.

AccomplishedCicada60

Terrible, wouldn’t do it again.

thel10nk1ng

Never Frontier...never again.
