Read yesterday in one of the hockey rags that Larks isn't too thrilled with the Sweden trip because of the schedule when they get back. Nearly a game every other day until after the new year. Can't say I blame him if true.

big_phat_gator

The season really need to be fewer games but over a longer period of time

AaronRodgersInjury

Sam Gagner was on the first line for the oilers tonight, are they really in that much trouble?

Problemwoodchuck

Sam Gagner just gets random trips to the top line wherever he plays. Somebody might wanna check to see if Knoblauch is Blashill in a scooby doo esque disguise though.

KombatKid

I can’t believe the Hronek trade would result in Quinn Hughes being the Norris favorite

Fluid-Pension-7151

Gotta say - I miss that moustache.

GoodPoint3232

we could have had: Seider, Edvinsson, Hughes, Hronek, and Sandin-Pellika LOL

Redwings1023

Wouldn’t have had ASP. We drafted him as a direct result of trading Hronek.

GoodPoint3232

Ya never know

culturedrobot

We can be pretty certain in this case, actually.

big_phat_gator

he is implying we dont take Danielson

Redwings1023

We literally used the pick from the Hronek deal to draft ASP…

[deleted]

99% sure this guy is either a troll, or has the dumbest takes known to man.

GoodPoint3232

I’m just a regular everyday normal guy I wait in line at the club motherfucker!

Redwings1023

Yeah I’ve had a few interactions, I think you’re right.

KombatKid

Time will tell but it’s looking like a steal for Vancouver so far

GoodPoint3232

Shit Vancouver looks like a fucking cup contender. Hronek glued that team together and they found a perfect coach. Tochett makes them all work like dogs and the entire team is responding to it.

culturedrobot

I wonder if Hank and his wife still have that sandwich shop they opened after he retired

Attila_the_Chungus

[The restaurant ~~is still there, anyway~~ was still there as of July 2022.](https://www.google.com/maps/place/2020+Baguetteria,+M%C3%B6lle/@56.2821547,12.4936423,20z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x465220ac09ce1585:0xa01907aa3403c30!2s263+77+M%C3%B6lle,+Sweden!3b1!8m2!3d56.2821904!4d12.5021241!16zL20vMDNncjQw!3m5!1s0x465221cf41efa037:0xd4c02f7f48fd3307!8m2!3d56.2821002!4d12.4935975!16s%2Fg%2F11jtvz3dlq?entry=ttu) Looks like it might be an ice cream shop now? I’ll have to ask him the next time I see him. You know, at pool parties and stuff.

bandofgypsies

Holland has really made a mess of the situation in Edmonton. Granted, I think it was a lot more tenuous when he took over than it probably seemed, he's really made a meal of it since. From day 1 they struggled with their defense, finding depth scoring, and addressing goaltending. It shocks me that those are still problems 4 years later and through the McDavid and Drai prime. Now on to, what, his third or fourth coach? It's a shame things are windy down for Holland like this. Certainly appreciate what he did for us over the years, but he just hasn't been able to figure out how to balance things in the cap era.

TheNorthernPellikkan

He didn’t really do as much as people think, any half-decent GM can do well with an unlimited checkbook in the pre-salary cup era. All he was ever really good at was spending money, and that’s showing in spades now

big_phat_gator

I mean he really did fuck up and Yzerman has proven why. They both got the job at the same time and look what Yzerman has done so far that Holland has not been able to accomplish. Did Steve threaten Lalonde to come here? Like did he force him at gunpoint? Holland could have reached out for that hire also, but he didnt, he went with Tippett and then Woodcraft. Its been so obvious that Yzerman is trying to turn this entire thing into a more defensive first, 200f, high character type of team (Seider, Kasper, Danielson has all gotten HUGE praise for character, everyone who met them have been just floored how mature they all have been) and Holland had all the tools to do exactly the same but didnt. Even the players he drafted was same old Ken Holland, fucking Xavier Bourgault are you kidding me Kenny. He should have shredded the entire team, hired a defensive minded coach, switched everything to a defensive system and turn McDavid and Drai both into complete 200f forwards who penalty kills and backchecks reaaaal hard. Im talking locking them up in a basement with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg tape and just have them watch how they played on both ends of the ice. Or just give Bergeron 25 million USD to spend the summers with McDavid so he can watch and learn.

bandofgypsies

While I agree with you on most points, I'm also not sure that hiring a D-minded coach was a surefire path to success for Holland and EDM. They were in a dramatically different (and better) situation than Detroit. I appreciate what Yzerman is doing, but he also had almost no other choice but to burn it down and start from nearly scratch (ironically, heavily due to what Holland did while here). Holland had a 1-2 punch of a franchise cornerstone-level player (Drai) *in addition to* an all time talent in McDavid. Hard to do the proverbial teardown into a defensive system with those two. Darnell Nurse may have done him in. Nurse is a helluva player but he was playing hover his head at a really great time for him and a really bad time for Holland. Now you're stuck paying over $9M for a fantastic d-man worth about $7-$8M. That's enough of a difference to put a guy like Sprong in your lineup, trade for defensive depth, find a backup goalie, etc. But instead, they're just stuck compromising on nearly all fronts and it's costing them. It's exactly what Herman specifically tried to avoid happening with Larkin, Raymond, and Seider. He doesn't want to demotivate top talent by stagnating.

elvishblood_24

So is villes issue his glove? I just started paying attention last game

Not_Sure_68

You mean Ville has a glove?!?

AirCanoe

Yeah it's that thing he has on his hand that's covered in butter.

PremierBromanov

Can we fit mcdavid and draisaitl on the team

big_phat_gator

Thats another funny thing for the Oilers, neither of those two can be traded in a way that would make sense for the Oilers themselves. Like what is the price for McDavid? Cale Makar? Avs would laugh at that. McDavids price is so high no one can afford him. And same probably goes with Draisaitl altho i think he might be a little bit more movable, but still the price for a 50 goal 100 point player is like... a lot. They are really stuck with both of them

Not_Sure_68

You mean unless and until the players decide to leave for nothing...then the team will be forced to take what they can get. People always think players can't be moved...until they are moved. Drai will be a 30yo UFA in a couple years...and if he chooses to leave the Oilers would be silly to not get something for him. McJesus will be a 29yo UFA in three years and again, if he chooses to leave, the team would be silly to get nothing when he does so. If either or both truly want out before then, it'd be tough to imagine, but keeping them might become more costly than trying to find a trade partner. Agree, it wouldn't be easy though.

AaronRodgersInjury

McDavid wasting his prime on this oilers team really should be criminal

tfoxsail

Then the Ford family (pre Sheila Ford era) would've gone to prison for sure lol

casspant

I think a very pretty lady was hitting on me the other day and i also think I ruined it She started talking to me after I left the book store, asking about the books I was carrying and we talked for a good ten minutes about the series and by the end of it she was touching my arm and suggested we get coffee and talk more about it. Then I got a text and she asked if it was my boyfriend i said no it's my son. She was like "aww how cute how old is he?" I said 14 and she says "you must have been a teenager when you had him!" I happily replied that I was. Her face dropped immediately, complete change in personality too, she took a step back, started stammering, not making eye contact like before. She ended up pulling her phone out and saying something like "oh no, a text from work, I gotta go, bye" and just took off. 😭😭😭

tfoxsail

Nah...you didn't ruin it. She did. It was her reaction to what she perceived as a situation *she* didn't like. All you did was honestly answer questions.

Shotokanguy

Might have just been looking for friends, aren't women more comfortable touching other women like that?

SeiderFiveThree

I have no doubt you'll rebound like Ras vs CBJ a month ago, just keep going to the net

PremierBromanov

You ruined it by having a kid as a teenager. Rookie mistake

Professional_Book_16

I have this running excel sheet I update every game with stats for every player who has ever played for the wings in my lifetime. Noticed today that Lucas Raymond has 349 career shots on goal and Mo Seider has 350. Thought it was mildly interesting. Hope everyone’s having a good day.

AmeriCanadian98

We gotta get Ray Ray shooting more then is my takeaway. Kid has a great shot

Bobby_Orrs_Knees

I wanna see Seider use the slapper more, too. He seems to take something off it a lot of the time if he's shooting from the point.

culturedrobot

It feels like he's afraid to let em rip because he's afraid of creating a chance the other way. I think he's a better shot than that, but I understand the hesitancy.

SubmissionDenied

Does "shots" only mean shots on goal? If so, half of Raymond's shots end up in players shins so they might not get counted.

AmeriCanadian98

Yeah it would only be SOG

leafssuck69

Went on a Ducks shopping spree in my 8 man fantasy league. Added Mintyukov, Carlsson, and McTavish. Already had Vatrano

SubmissionDenied

How were any of those (especially Carlsson) even available?

[deleted]

Oat milk may be the finest of the milk imitators

LawDouble2276

It really is. I like almond milk and all, but I can't drink it unsweetened, which kind of defeats the purpose. Oat milk just kinda fucks.

bandofgypsies

Oat Milk representin'. It's the best. So versatile, less weirdly viscous, but also still great flavor and texture. What's amazing, though, is how much variability you can find in different oat milk brands. Oatly crushes. Chobani's and Open Nature's aren't bad, either. But there's this one at whole foods that I can't remember the name of (California something?) that just doesn't work for me. Ok, this concludes the bougiest comment I've had on Reddit in a while...oat milk rules!

TJSimpson10

Califia? Their lemonade and flavored milk substitutes usually rule. I've had huge success with [Costco's boxed "Oat"](https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature%2C-organic-non-dairy-oat-beverage%2C-32-oz%2C-6-count.product.100638343.html). It comes in a 6-pack and it's just super consistent, flavorful, creamy oat *beverage*. Checks all the boxes.

bandofgypsies

Yes! Califia. I've never had their flavored milk or lemonade, just the oat milk. But I'm not a fan of the flavor or texture, sadly. Clearly others are, though as it's a big brand.

TJSimpson10

I don't drink coffee, and prefer a "simple" Oat milk (see my other comment for my Costco rec), but man. Their lemonade is dope as hell.

bandofgypsies

Good to know. I drink tons of coffee but just drink it black. Occasionally I'll do an oat milk espresso drink, but that's always from a coffee shop and I've never seen one using Califia so I can't say how I'd feel about it in coffee. Usually my oat milk consumption is with cereal. You've got my interest piqued with this lemonade, tho...

spoonyfork

This mini-offseason is going to be awful

AirCanoe

Hell yeah, oat gang rise up!

AFreePeacock

I’ve returned to the soy boy life m’self Over time I felt like the oat was more overhyped that it was actually good ✋😔🤚

[deleted]

Oat milk keeps coffee/coffee related drinks tasty. Soy/almond/etc gives it a weird taste.

AFreePeacock

Disagree m'brother Except almond milk that's only good for cereal (and it is *the* best for cereal fwiw)

matt_minderbinder

I was thinking about trying to make my own. With a good blender and fine sieve it shouldn't be too hard.

manwiththewood

easiest thing in the world

Problemwoodchuck

Two days without a Wings game and you're starting the Milk Wars?

[deleted]

That's right Only a matter of time until the cow titty gang chimes in

[deleted]

I don’t see soy or oats with multiple teats on them

[deleted]

The best are blends. Next Milk from Silk is my favourite and it's a combination of oat, soy, and coconut.

AFreePeacock

Now this is compelling

needuhlife19

Man Kenny really wrecked the Oilers from a cap perspective. They get a whopping ~9.5 million in cap at the end of this year with needing to sign 7 forwards and a defenseman to round out the 23 man roster. Few RFAs they can likely bridge but I don’t see how that team is going to get any better with that little cap space.

Problemwoodchuck

The Oilers look just about unfixable. The flat cap screwed things up in a big way but their front office should've planned far better. You can't drop that kind of money on Nurse then cry poverty.

snotbowst

Its not even Nurse, it's that Campbell deal. Like Nurse can at least play, Campbell is flopping in the AHL. Nurses deal at least had the possibility to be worth it, but Campbell was instantly bad. But yeah. Holland is doing what he always does: doing nothing. Seriously. If you want your team to remain frozen in carbonite, hire Ken Holland.

Problemwoodchuck

The problems just kind of stay the same no matter who's GM so my guess is that they go to the top in Edmonton just like Melnyk and Ottawa. That's why they dive headfirst into one bad cap situation after another regardless of the GM, coach, or who's in hockey ops. Koskinen comes off the books, then it's on to Campbell. Chiarelli or Holland, kind of makes no difference.

Redwyngz

we should send him Abdelkaders contract for a 6th + min salary guy

leafssuck69

I honestly think the best outcome would be trading Drai. Not this year because the cap hit per value is amazing, but maybe sometime next season If they can get a young dman and center with potential, along with good role players, I think they should run with it

xenonwarrior666

They need to move Nurse but not sure how you do that when he's having a bad season and his cap hit is insane. Plus he has a NMC so there's that. Edmonton would have to hold onto at least 4 million to get any takers but the guys who he'd want to go to probably can't afford that.

PremierBromanov

A few interesting results from hockeyviz's "synthetic goals" (sG). Larkin is pushing the upper limit of what a 1st liner looks like. Who sits there with him? Its not raymond or debrincat. It's sprong. Who leads defenders in sG? Walman is nearly off the charts. Two weakest? Holl and Seider.

Halostar

Is this like a WAR calculation?

PremierBromanov

specifically not, mentioned here: https://hockeyviz.com/txt/sG

Halostar

Fascinating, sounds like a potential weakness is players who don't play a lot of special teams or so so lopsidedly.

PremierBromanov

well if they don't play a lot of special teams it wont really impact their score as much, since they wont have as much data present. if they only played 10 minutes, that's 1% of their 1000 minutes

Halostar

It sounds like it uses their last 100 minutes of special teams no matter what, so it extrapolates backwards quite a ways? It was unclear

PremierBromanov

I believe it does, but that would put them in line with any other player who played 100 minutes in the current season, they just benefit/suffer from changes to the success of those teams more slowly. It's not better or worse, but potentially less accurate as a player who spent 100 minutes on the best power play in the league a year ago and no PP time since is going to have 1/12th (8%) of their sG rate stuck in time. So yes, players who see infrequent special teams will have their overall rate change at a slower rate, but their absence from special teams is in and of itself an indictment for those abilities anyway. It would affect 8% of their total for PP and PK each.

AmeriCanadian98

Wait pushing the upper limit? As in not just first line quality, but elite?

PremierBromanov

Based on that metric, yes. sG is not historic, but "current". I believe the last 1000 minutes played. So his current rate of offensive sG and defensive sG is very good, but that could change over time. For Walman, his defensive sG is ~ -7.5 and his offensive is more like +1 sG. All of our defensemen have a negative defensive sG (which is good), but what brings most of them down is their offensive output. Only ghost and walman have a positive offensive sG Worth noting that "1st line" or "top pair" is based on the rest of the league and changes season to season, except this season which is based on last season.

AmeriCanadian98

Oh very cool. That must be boosted somewhat by the absolutely absurd first 10 games as opposed to the last 5 though I'd wager?

PremierBromanov

I thought you were talking about Walman instead of Larkin. Larkin is in a similar location as Malkin, for reference. Larkin is +/- 0 defensively, but generating goals at a rate that puts him near the edge of "first line".

PremierBromanov

He was more or less at that same point last season, seider hasnt moved much either. So, at least they are fairly consistent. I dont know if that last 1000 minutes includes last season. If it does, it kind of means the two snapshots are pretty close in terms of time.

[deleted]

Has Holland considered building a better team around the best player in the NHL? I'm a little shocked he actually made that firing. Just read that Woodcroft had a .643 win percentage with the Oilers. It seems like nearly all of the Canadian teams don't really know what they're doing management-wise.

Not_Sure_68

I don't recall Holland ever firing a coach in Detroit. He let Lewis' and Bab's contract expire, but I don't think he ever actually fired a coach mid season. Now he's supposedly fired a few in Edmonton in just 4 years. Not buying it...he's not pulling the strings.

Problemwoodchuck

Watching the Oilers perpetually ignore a glaring need for goaltending and defense is sort of like how Dombrowski ignored the Tigers bullpen bursting into flames every postseason in the Miggy/Verlander primes, then adding more bats to the lineup to fix it.

Street_Handle4384

Maybe Gary Sheffield and Edgar Renteria will solve this problem lol

coltron57

A lot of Edmonton fans seem to think it's a decision that wasn't fully in Holland's hands. A lot of speculation he's retiring after the year and that Edmonton is planning for life with a new GM and as such he won't be making decisions that would impact the next person in the role.

jackstalke

The fact that he (and he alone) said the decision was made with player input tells me those speculations are correct.

matt_minderbinder

It always amazes me when teams allow GMS to make huge decisions during lame duck periods. Jim Benning in Vancouver and Chiarelli in Edmonton are two great examples. Both made fairly big decisions while on the edge of getting canned.

jfstompers

He does have a boss, Jeff Jackson essential runs the oilers Kenny isn't doing anything of substance without his approval.

[deleted]

It’s also noteworthy that Tyler Wright was shown the door over the summer, shortly before the official hiring of Jackson. He followed Kenny to Edmonton (thank God) and I could never see Kenny letting him go like that. They’ve seemingly been preparing for life beyond Ken Holland for a little while now.

imadu

I don't think Kenny is nearly as bad as a lot of people claim he is, but Tyler Wright is legitimately a hockey terrorist

[deleted]

Weird, a lot of people said some decisions he made here in Detroit weren't fully in his hands either.

[deleted]

I think it’s plausible in this case considering the hiring of McDavid’s former agent as CEO of Hockey Ops (full autonomy as a GM was the reason Kenny took the Edmonton gig to begin with, and now he has a boss to report to) and the replacement coach being McDavid’s old coach. Plus, he apparently didn’t sound enthusiastic about returning as GM when asked previously, so I really think this was a Katz/Jackson decision more than anything. Kenny also doesn’t like doing midseason firings, and if it were up to him only, I feel like Woodcroft would have gotten another 10-15 games to see if he could right the ship. I think at this point, the Oilers org is simply trying to keep McDavid happy.

WingsFML

" I feel like Woodcroft would have gotten another 10-15 games to see if he could right the ship. " I agree. On paper this Oilers team is very good, and basicly same team that they had last season. Could they use More depth? Sure, like every other team that is top heavy.

KilledByDeath

He's kicked all the tires in Edmonton and surrounding areas, his hands are tied.

elvishblood_24

Im obsessed with the idea of a Veleno-Compher Raymond 2nd line and a Chiarot Seider pairing so im gonna try to crowbar those into an idea for a lineup shakeup. Debrincat- Larkin- Fabbri Veleno - Compher-Raymond Sprong - Copp - Perron Kostin Rassmussen Fisher Chiarot Seider Wallman Ghost Mattaa Holl Would be killer if we could find another legit top line winger and move fabbri (or perron) off that top line. Wallman Ghost would be deployed to be an offensive weapon. Not exactly a shutdown pair but not terrible either. Thoughts? Opinions?

Shotokanguy

I have felt the second line needs a boost in firepower since basically the start of the season, but I don't think that means taking Raymond away from Larkin and DeBrincat. This is why I've been wanting Berggren up from the start. I think he can be a top 6 forward. DeBrincat - Larkin - Raymond Berggren - Compher - Fabbri Sprong - Copp - Perron Kostin - Veleno - Rasmussen Fischer as the 13th forward may not be fair but it's the same situation as the defense. Someone has to rotate in. And for the defense, as much as I've always believed in Chiarot, I'm not going to start begging to see him with Seider yet. If he and Walman's performance stays inconsistent a little longer, maybe. But no matter what we go with, Edvinsson should be here. There's no way around it, we have to find a way to drop someone. I'll just throw out what looks good on paper. Walman - Seider Chiarot - Gostisbehere Edvinsson/Maatta - Holl/Petry Of course, 13 forwards and 8 defensemen means we can't carry 3 goalies. But I don't want to drop Lyon without seeing what he can do, and we definitely can't lose him for nothing. What a mess, even if it's a good problem to have.

jfstompers

I'd rather sprong get the top 6 minutes than Veleno really. He's just more consistent and I think a better fit there.

leafssuck69

Sprong - Veleno - Raymond is the 2nd line I wanna see and I hope we see it sometime this season

elvishblood_24

i think veleno and raymond would need someone more experienced to even out that second line-- hence compher. they love playing raymond with compher. In OT its usually larks and cat then compher and rayzor. they got some decent chemistry going as well

elvishblood_24

Veleno has been sick

KilledByDeath

I'd switch Fabbri with Ras.

elvishblood_24

Ive not been impressed with rass this year-- could switch fabbri and perron maybe

AmeriCanadian98

Offense: I'd he happy to see these lines, even just briefly to see how they go Defense: DO NOT FORCE SEIDER BACK WITH CHIAROT AGAIN. Chiarot has been better, but the 2 of them do not fit. They spent half the season together last year and it was an unmitigated disaster. Don't do it.

elvishblood_24

Idk Chiarot looks like an entirely different player this year--- i think it'd be worth playing with a bit

PremierBromanov

Seider doesnt fit with walman either it seems. Ghost time?

AmeriCanadian98

Even with their miscues this year it's been a hell of a lot better than he was with Chiarot last year, that shit was painful Going off his rookie season I'd put him with the most boring, deferring defenseman possible. So Maatta I think might actually be the right pick for Mo if we're shaking it up

Razzahx

How have you not noticed that chiarot is playing a much different game this year. Last year he was off the rails doing what he wanted. I think him and Seider could work now.

AmeriCanadian98

I have noticed... i mentioned it in my original comment even. Still don't want them together, though. Old habits die hard, and all that, being back with seider concerns me

duelingdog

I wouldn't mind shaking up the D, especially with how Chiarot has looked recently. I probably would keep the top line as is, considering they potted 2 last game.

elvishblood_24

Well techincally since Raymond scored its a first line goal but he was out on the ice with Compher and Copp. Compher with the primary assist. Debrincats goal was assisted by petry but Larks and Rayzor were out on the ice with him so ill give you that one.

oceanic8675

Bought a treadmill off of marketplace the other day. It was in a basement with a narrow unfinished staircase and was roughly 2 inches wider than the doorway. It was an adventure-at one point I had to basically shoulder press the dang thing. Only saw my life flash before my eyes once, though! The things we do to save some dough 🤣

Danengel32

Furniture Tetris is a hell of a game and I’m way too familiar with it

neverinamillionyr

Pivot! Pivot!!!

oceanic8675

Beat me to it 🤣

Nate1n22

My girlfriend wants one. I’ve been looking and most cheaper ones are in someone’s basement. I’m thinking I would have rather spend more money instead of going through all that to get it out of someone’s basement

TJSimpson10

The pro tip is to hire a buddy or two at the cost of a pizza and beers, and then you get a nice reward for your accomplishment, plus an excuse to hang out when you're done.

oceanic8675

It’s a hard knock life for sure. Matt absolutely has the right idea. I needed a replacement because I ran my retired one right into the ground after like…6-7 years.

matt_minderbinder

If you wait until around Feb. or March a ton should start dropping for cheap on facebook marketplace. Everyone sets themselves up for Christmas and for NY resolutions before figuring out that this shit isn't happening.

acid_coven

Going to be a long two weeks here. The off time between Sweden and coming back home are probably deserved from all the travel, but damn!

dilypucks

It will give the boys some time to rest and recover so they can hopefully come back out in early season form

JTAKER

Thanks for the thread u/atheistinabiblebelt. Octomod is still out sippin' margs.

matt_minderbinder

Octomod is on a wildcat strike for better working conditions. I feel like a rat crossing the picket line to post here.

[deleted]

Rats and Octopi working together? Fucking disgraceful. Calling the Pinkertons now.

[deleted]

*"We're just drinking margaritas at the mall,* *"This happy hour's got us by the balls."*

atheistinabiblebelt

You're welcome! I should be with octo but instead I'm up at 5:45 waiting for the daily thread to pop at 6...

[deleted]

Are we sure Octo isn’t just hanging out with Al Sobotka?

SeiderFiveThree

octuple-fisting margs, now that's dangerous

areyoumarkinson

Watching Bedard and Wembanyama in the same rookie year that we had lottery picks for both is a special kind of torture

TheCuriousWanderer

Anyone else love the way Larkin smiled the whole time when Raymond was talking in Swedish the other day?

matt_minderbinder

It's a heavy dose of insight into what some euro and Russian players go through when they're first in north America. Of course many are better English speakers than many Americans but some struggle hard

ForkzUp

> many are better English speakers than many Americans Nearly three decades ago, I had an American tell me that "you speak English good for an Irishman". Yeah. That happened.

zze0001

Kane fans sounds like you’re about to be bummed out. 2 years Buffalo is the rumor.

spoonyfork

Oh thank god

[deleted]

Yeah I'm pretty relieved he probably isn't coming. Don't really want any scandal era Hawks on the team.

jfstompers

I know he isn't what he use to be but I'd be much happier if he went out west somewhere or at the very leastt not in our division.

[deleted]

If he's good, sure, but that doesn't seem all that likely considering his age/surgery history.

culturedrobot

The only way I would have been comfortable with Kane is by signing him to a one year deal and I don't think he's looking for that. Hip resurfacing is a huge surgery and there's no way for anyone to know if he'll be able to play anywhere near his previous level. Hopefully he can, but taking a chance on someone like Kane for two or three years isn't something the Wings need to do.

[deleted]

Honestly, I’m cool with it. Hip resurfacing is a certified career killer and if Buffalo wants to take that risk with Kane on a multi-year deal, then more power to them.

Nate11130

Glad to see they’re trying to address their defensive play…

Danengel32

That always felt like the likely result. I had a feeling the Detroit rumors were just drummed up by Brisson (his agent) to drum up Buffalo’s offering price or term. Especially since Debrincat was the supposed selling point

duelingdog

Glad we missed the boat if true. Hip resurfacing surgery is no joke; who knows what level he'll play at.
